I think they’re saving those for hero fests. the dev team is smart when it comes to building up hype I really would have liked if this hero was released with an execution that uses a different weapon depending on which side you landed the final heavy on

I absolutely love sohei, I love his soul management and how he builds up to this extremely powerful move which is by far my favorite move in the game animation wise and I always welcome heroes with aggressive personalities

In the Throat Tickler execution, Sohei doesn't 'pop' the head off, he makes the opponent trip as he pushes the spear through their neck. Since the 'guards' of the spear are blades, it doesn't stop the weapon from going deeper in, so in reality the opponent is just dropping onto another blade that then does the final cut through their neck severing the head.

And considering how surprisingly easy it is for a sharpened blade to cut through material with minimal effort. This does seem possible, more so with the guard preventing the body from unexpectedly sliding off.

Unless the the opponent weighs 300+, they aren’t going to generate enough force to sever a head, and if we really want to be realistic, the blade wouldn’t even make it through wardens chainmail, let alone COMPLETELY cut through it

I like that during the execution sohei walks up slowly instead of rushing because it makes him look even more intimidating, like you said before he's this monster of a man and that slow walk before he grabs the warden gives the vibe of that you didn't hurt him, you only pissed him off before he grabs you and stabs you and brushes off the arrows like nothing. I love this character.

Raven, for video ideas you should do "Movesets ranked" where you will talk about for honor characters move sets and grade then based on 1. How applicable they are. Ex a rolling thunder (in UFC) would be a 1 but a jab would be a 4. 2. How efficient is it for killing. 3. Realism (self explanatory) 4. Cool factor (self explanatory). If you wanted to you could cover guard break animations and feats. I almost forgot but you would use the same grading system for executions

Sohei literally gave me flashbacks to how wacky and creative For Honor used to be with character design. With such an engaging moveset and such an awesome appearance, this is one of my favorite characters to come out and I love to see that you like his executions. I hope you're enjoying his gameplay as much as his executions though lol.

Correction for the Tsuki Yari execution. Japanese has a lot of words that mean multiple things despite processing the same sound, with context or kanji being used to differentiate them. In this case, Tsuki likely means thrust and not moon. As it is a potential derivative of Tsuku “to thrust”. Especially with its relevance in martial arts like Kendo where “Tsuki” is often used to describe a thrust. In Kendo specifically it’s applied to the strikes for a target zone around the neck. So it’s kinda funny that the execution has the stab through the gut. But I suppose that’s a kendo specific context rather than wider definition.

The only issue I have with the arrow execution is the horizontal blade also going into the body. While it might just be clipping issues I think having it stop at the horizontal blade would have been neat.

月槍 tsukiyari means moon spear, however 突き槍 tsukiyari with a different kanji means thrusting spear, which match the move being one that thrusts. Anyways, good job as usual!

A theory I have is that some of the executions don’t kill the player instantly, but rather incapacitate them, and they die of blood loss later. Because yes, some dismemberment executions will obviously kill, and some stabbing executions, but for example, Wardens basic execution (the one were he stabs the sword into the shoulder) obviously the first slice will cause some damage but I don’t think a sword guard would kill instantly. Thoughts, people?

Man. I personally was a little disappointed. I would of loved to see Sohei use his other weapons. For example, for Throat Tickler he could of used his Sasumata to grab the neck and drive the opponent to the ground The arrow one is fine Face meets metal could of used his yari to stab, drive the opponent to the ground and then smash his face with the mallet Mercy kill was fine

Definitely with Benkei (I refuse to call him Sohei) he's gonna change the grades up a bit. Because in order for him to be unarmed he has to let go of seven whole weapons, and even if he only has one on him, he's a master with all seven so he can defend himself perfectly fine. But yeah, it would've been nice to see an execution using all of his weapons.

What really disappointed me is the lack of mastery in these executions, 4 executions where 3 are stabs and one a neck twist. I was hoping something with more movement involved instead of slow walks

The Throat Tickler (LOVE this name btw its hilarious) quick, effective, and I'd say its pretty cool, the way they animated the victims reaction is unique, their mouth is actually animated and they like, try to cry out, but the spear has blocked their airways. I will agree the decap seems off though! 7/10 4:24 I disagree here, mainly because of the fact warden is just... zoned out and not at all trying to fight back, its like he completely accepted his death, and is just awkwardly waiting to be stabbed in the throat. otherwise, this can definitely be done, I personally would rate it a 3 out of 4 for realism. cool factor for me is just, 1. its super awkward, with sohei just, wildly screaming whilst doing these low effort shoves, and the war cry he does after pulling warden into the spear is just, YUCK! 3/10 i'm not a fan of the arrow storm execution, i've never enjoyed executions that involve something other than the executioner or the executionee interfering, be it catapults, arrow storms, spear storms, simply a spear, etc. I understand its a reference, but its not my taste. 4.5/10 Mercy kill, its alright, would be nice to add some stomping noises though. My only issue is again, his screaming. This voice actor was told to be wild with no end I guess, because he lets out this stupid roar for just a pull of his spear. 4/10

have to disagree heavily with tsuki yari, id give it an efficiency of 1 because he pushes the enemy away allowing them to signal archers (and run away if they were smart) took too long closing the distance and got hit by a volley of arrows, surviving off of pure luck from the fact that he didnt get hit in the face and the other volleys didnt hit him either

If you know japanese Tsuki 「月」 means moon and yari 「槍」 is spear so he gets it right. It’s not suki but tsuki!!!
