The Baltimore Ravens acquired Roquan Smith from the Chicago Bears yesterday for AJ Klein and a second and fifth-round pick in 2023. The Ravens can now fill the void in the middle of their defense with the NFL’s leading tackler, who has 83 this season. Queen is an excellent blitzer and can make big plays behind the LOS. However, pretty sure they envisioned him as an MLB and he hasn’t looked good there. Why else would they keep relying on an aging Josh Bynes? Queen tends to overpursue, which leads to missed tackles, and his coverage skills have been lackluster, at best. Coverage was a supposed strength for him coming out of LSU but it has not been there. I think Smith will be closer to CJ Mosley than Ray Lewis and that’s NOT an insult. Mosley was an excellent LB for the Ravens, I think Smith will be an excellent addition. The question is, will be here longer than half a season?

What people need to understand is this was a rental plug an play player. So what I mean is the Raven's feel like they have a shot to make a run so they got a LB that will solidify this defense. Because Josh Bynes has been injured, and only had Peire Paul, Queen, Harrison and practice squad LBs. Houston came back and now Tyus Bowser an 2nd rounder Ojabo as well. What this did was not force the Raven's to rush Boswer, Bynes and Ojabo back. Because Bowser was our best LB in this group outside of Houston. Without picking up Smith they would of had to rely and hope Bowser could be what he was last year and risk injuring their second round pick Ajabo. What this move does is allow them to ease both those men back into playing as well as not force Peire Paul to be a 3 down back because I don't believe you should. He's more of a play maker and difference maker on plays you need to make. This was a brilliant move and I know people are scared of the contract because I'm not an ill explain why. Raven's treasure their draft picks I believe the most in the NFL so for them to give up a 2nd and 5th there had to be insurance which there was. If Smith signs else where they get a 3rd round comp pick guaranteed. But I believe one of 2 things will happen. They will Franchise Cap Smith or Lamar but will pay 1 and following year will pay other. They're going to build around Smith and why this team can become so dangerous js.
