Spot on. Love the work you do. It's crazy that fans are out here looking at the film and identifying the flaws yet harbs can't open his eyes and see it

HARBS is useless. He’s there for positive morale and not to be a head coach. He is the cool uncle and not the father figure the team needs

Greg Roman calls plays like a kid builds a plate at Golden Corral just all their favorites stuffed together no fluidity or connectivity what so ever.

Your mot understanding that that sweep is not for the wide to receive the ball but its for him to be a lead blocker for the quarterback

He'll never keep it. Not once. Roman never runs to a TE Nobody side unless Ricard motions to it. The very fact it's TE Nobody means the run play will not go to that side, ever.

Split Personality/Identity offense. Don't know who/what we want to be and just start calling plays. And the no complementary plays is just a microcosm of the entire team. We don't play a great deal of complementary football but we get by sometimes, however, will eventually cost us games that we should win.

100%. Great point. I think it's cost us at least two this season already. If not three.

You nailed it Adding this honorable mention. Our offense is flat because our carbonation and fizzle wants to be paid. Our top coat has side lined himself. The flaws are now more apparent. We really see Greg and John. Hope the running game and defense is enough to save this game. All_22 that's the best and most accurate analysis and cure on any network.

Greg Roman calls plays like an AI generating the most statistically sound play. There is no rhythm. No opportunity, just scheduled play calling. As soon as we get a competent OC, and a head coach that has balls, this team will win championships.

The motion on the first play you showed had the entire Browns Defense sliding away from the direction of the run. Can that be enough to justify running the awful Jet sweep a few times per game?
@all_22_films
@all_22_films 2 жыл бұрын
Yup. They didn't identify that Roman will never run to a TE Nobody side, unless Ricard is the one in motion towards the TE. He will only run to a TE Nobody side if Richard/FB leads out there to that side.

Greg Roman has an elite running game. He just has no feel for playcalling, and we lack a Head Coach who is willing or able to grab the reins and do anything to get the offense on track. Nothing will change this season (this was a repeated pattern in the Falcons game, and we kept another bad team in the game as a result.). I don't think anything will change next season even if GRo goes because Harbs will still be the one selecting the OC, and we may be without Lamar to run whatever offense we have.

I am baffled!! The play before Ricard 4th down. Duveney can run it in or get the Pa pass wide open. Later in the video wheel route. Wide open!!! Hand the ball to the jet sweep!!!

Hey coach welcome back 😂😂😂. They never look for a work horse in this offense, it’s like he’s is playing chess by himself. Something is off with this organization thou, it’s like if a player is doing good and starting to come on they slow them down or go away from him so he don’t get hot. Or I could be wrong, But something is off , I believe their trying to keep price tags down…. What you think?

"I don't understand why" Greg Roman. And we may as well add Harbaugh to that, because for all he has talked about analytics over the years, he sure as shit has not looked at them with respect to our offense.

This talk about complementary plays makes me again wonder why screens haven’t been used/worked well in this Roman offense of recent years. Maybe this is too simplistic, but it seems to me we have all these OL running around, we have play action, we have read options. Screens always seemed like such a natural extension. Regardless, even I can tell we don’t give defenses enough to worry about
@markb7913
@markb7913 2 жыл бұрын
Especially since we drafted Linderbaum. Think I remember Ken McKusick articulating that screens were why they drafted Badie. Also Roman ran screens in Buffalo and San Fran in prior years. So it's not unknown in his system. Some unasked for speculation: Screens aren't a part of the offense because Lamar is most dangerous on the edge, 1 on 1 with an adge defender. By running screens, the defense has to prepare for edge threats, thereby indirectly preparing for Lamar's edge-running threat. I would also hypothesize that screens require the offense to sell 1 thing and enact a 2nd thing. Arguably, Roman hasn't trusted certain guys to do that effectively.
@jeremiahtbarmes
@jeremiahtbarmes 2 жыл бұрын
You guys are right, screens slow down defenses. Especially back end players, and with your backup Qb you want the defense to not pin their ears back but use their eyes….
@joshhoffman5233

@@markb7913 that’s interesting about if Lamar being Lamar causes defenses to be in position for screens incidentally. I can’t answer it but I have some doubt strictly bc he attracts defenders right at him. I’ve also not been a fan of Roman’s offense bc the best play consistently is the Lamar run and I don’t think it’s bc Lamar can’t throw well enough I think Roman is enamored of it

Roman’s ego has to prove the play will work. The same way he has to prove he can run an effective passing game. To the point where he dies on that hill

This was well said! I don't see how we don't have at least 4-6 plays out of any formation in our playbook. If you watch the browns defense, they even knew we wasn't passing out fo the formation and didn't even pay attention to Duv. Why not playaction and just do a quick screen OR SOMETHING. Playcalling has to be more creative in this era of football. I don't see how our staff don't understand that. Why are they so darn stubborn!!!!

Seems like everything in this offense rests on the shoulders of the players to execute perfectly every play. Very little margin for error. The scheme and play calling is becoming a hindrance, made more obvious when Lamar isn’t there to cover up the warts

All_22 I noticed the same thing. My rational for them running a single play from a looks is they would add multiple play for each look during the playoffs. However, we need a RPO from each look, now.

Could you do a comparison of the ravens offense vs the bills/chiefs/eagles to show why ravens offense doesn’t work?
@markb7913
@markb7913 2 жыл бұрын
I remeber arguing earlier this year that Roman was waiting for defendes to prove they could take away the initial play from any formation before he revealed the wrinkle. I don't think that's accurate anymore. U mentioned a wheel route to Duvernay- a designed pass-play that McVay runs with Kupp and Shannahan does with Deebo regularly. Even KC runs it with MSV. The only theory I have is Roman is trying to establish our running back running game as dominant. I suspect Roman's biggest fear is someone will take the run away and he'll be forced to call a pass-first game. As is often the case, Roman wants to prove to God and Country that even on a non-optimal run, the results are positive enough to stick with the run. Especially with Lamar out, I think Roman's passing game is atrocious. I think each receiver is asked to execute things they don't specialize in. That leads to insecurity which leads to lack of trust. I don't think any receiver in the Lamar era has looked comfortable. Sure, Bateman, Watkins, Hollywood, and even Duvernay have had games where they got hot. However, it's the exception not the rule. That implies poor coaching. To make a longer point short, the lack of faith in receivers has persuaded Roman to fear must-pass situations, so he refuses to open the playbook where the WR is concerned. Which is ultimately why some formations have only 1 or 2 plays he calls out of.

Coach I get what you saying about the Ravens constantly running behind Ricard being predictable but that’s his job as the FB, you could say the same about the 49ers constantly running behind Jusckyc, it works, they are great run blockers. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

I wonder what their run game identity is. Do they think they’re bullies who can run on anyone no matter what or do they think they’re finesse and skill guys who are scheming their way to big plays. GRo is a weird dude
