The Ravenscar Seal Colony can be found on The Yorkshire Coast section of The Cleveland Way below Raven Hall Hotel.
The route down is a public footpath, and although the powers that be have been trying to discourage visitors, the footpath and shoreline are legally open to members of the public.
The Seal Colony itself is home to approximately 300 seals, not all of which are present at the same time, but if you visit on the right days then numbers can be high.
The colony can be accessed from Ravenscar village itself following the signposted footpath to the shoreline below. You can also reach The Ravenscar Seal Colony from Stoupe Beck, Boggle Hole and Robin Hoods Bay.
Despite being easier to walk on the flat beaches and scars anyone coming from Stoupe Beck or Bay should have a good knowledge of the area and be well aware that if they get the tide times wrong they could well find themselves cut off.
Our footage was shot with a zoom lens. Please be aware that if you get too close to the seals you will distress them. If visiting the seals don't be tempted to get too close. They do bight and have been known to carry very unpleasant disease.
