I use to service the duke box and ciggy machine and pool table once a week for a few years in the early 2000 years. I loved going out there. The old lady that owned the pub use to make me lunch every time. She also use to look after her old husband that had Alzheimer. He would just wonder around the pub. Nice old guy. The lady use to tell me it was very haunted. She would see people from vintage times and a man in black with a top hate. They later sold the old pub When I heard her husband needed more care. After a few years That same lady brought the old pub back and I think he was buried there from memory She manly ran that pub on her own. Beautiful people they were. I have very good memories of them both. Great watch. Thank you.

I loved Ravenswood. My Uncle was curator for many years of the museum and did gold panning out the back of the miners huts.Last time I was there in 1997 they were considering closing the gold mines as the prce of gold had drapped to $290. The place was in drought and very dry/red. Looks beautiful today.

We were there in 2020, after a hiatus of nearly 45 years, when the town was literally just a ghost town!! I loved the place, stayed @ the Imperial Hotel, beautiful hosts. Looks like a lot more work has been conducted by the mining company, as evident through the big wall at the back of the town?? Loved the video BTW

I had to go to Ravenswood about 30 years ago. I was a registered property valuer and I had to go there to value the old hospital site for the Department of Health. With the roads hardly existent and an almost complete lack of street signs, almost the hardest part of the job was just locating the property. When I eventually did, I found a couple of of badly weathered brick walls and little else. Trying to put a value on it was the next issue.

Lovely, interesting place to visit. Looks like the Impy hotel could do with some love. There are so many of these towns of past endeavours. Be it mining or to do with the railway etc. Now dying or dead. I read only the other day that the government are to compulsory purchase what is left of an old asbestos mining town. They are going to level any structure that is left and declare it a no go area. Seems pointless really. Asbestos occurs naturally in various places in Australia. Are they going to close access to all. I love visiting these old towns. The history of them is amazing.
@colinl9018 Жыл бұрын
That would be Wittenoom in WA. The joint is crawling in blue asbestos tailings. Tonnes piled up everywhere. Blowing in the wind. It was shut down for safety reasons and the few people left had years to accept a very good offer and move. It will take years to rehab the area. Asbestos is a killer!
