Man, I wish I could learn to set the horn down and walk away when I’m sounding bad...

Bro, one of the best things I learned how to do was not to practice frantically. If you're messing something up a lot, like a phrase or a scale, take a break and come back to it and play it note by note, just to get the pitches under your fingers and in your head. If you're having trouble with the rhythm, figure it out and clap it to the metronome At a slow tempo like 60 BPM, like you're in middle school. Then play the rhythm in time slow on only G. When you're ready play the phrase with the correct pitches at a very slow tempo (50-60) and once you're successful with it, speed it up by 5 clicks every time. If you're sounding bad and getting frustrated, just take a break. Think about something else. And then get back to it. Good luck! I hope this helps.

I wish I had a Monette trumpet for school. I’m tired of my Eastman ETR522 trumpet.
