We are very close to the incident happened in Allen Tx. Believe me everyday I am scared to send my kid to school due to so many incidents. So far it was not close by, so I use too overcome soon, but now I am scared. Its normal all around people busy with there day to day work but back of the mind there is a constant watch for being cautious around. Just wish and pray for peace all around the world and people start behaving like humankind and not like animals 😢

I live in Northern Virginia… and honestly, I had never felt any issues regarding the safety of children. I won’t deny the fact that there are some areas where there is a safety concern but again if you live in well diverse population location then you don't have to worry about anything. All I will say is that do your own due diligence before taking any step. All the best

I live in New Jersey -USA and understand your concern. Here in NJ we feel absolutely safe and everything is normal. The reason is, the population comprises all races, ethnicity, and colors. There are Indians, Pakistanis, Malaysians, Chinese, Spanish, whites blacks and all c0 mingle and live peacefully. No untoward incident has been reported in the recent past or as long as memory serves. The safety concerns are valid in Mid West where the immigrant population is less in number and economic disparity is clearly visible and which leads to hatred and incidents towards others. . I too have the same Raybans, almost 25 years old bought from my job and it cost then Rs.3000/- Still treasured even today

Perhaps you haven't lived in Canada. Even I thought across the same lines. Lived in US for a decade, moved back to India due to family reasons. Didn't like India much, came to Canada thinking it would be more safer, better and stuff. Trust me its a shithole, at this point I am considering moving back to India. Earlier I planned to spend 3 to 4 years here, get passport and then move back to India or US. Now i am doubtful of even wasting that much time here. Pollution or whatever, at least I have good career and research jobs in India, here I would be screwed. Canada has lot of its crime but unlike US it doesnt make to news. This world is not ideal, US is not ideal. But for tech workers, it is more ideal country than Canada.

Love your family and your blogs Ravish. My opinion on this topic is you can’t live your life in fear. You can be the healthiest person alive and still die from a heart attack. You can live in the safest city in the world and still get into a car crash. You can fly planes everyday and still sadly crash. You can eat the right foods and still get cancer. Etc. Etc. Go where your heart is. Millions of people live in the USA and don’t die from shootings. Media and social media hypes everything up too much these days. If you want to move to the USA then that is where you are destined to be. Best of luck to you and your family!

After university shooting incident Michigan Governor passed law to prevent gun violence! Hopefully shooters are aware of that new law. Just stay away from Downtown in night time and keep your car locked as carjacking is common in suburbs. In SFO you need to keep your car unlocked so they don’t break your car window glass for valuable items. Other than that we are safe in US.

The USA is a superpower and has good job opportunities. There is no denying that. However, it is legal for anyone in the US to own guns and gun licences are easy to get as there is no strong vetting system. The US is one of the biggest producers of ammunition so no wonder these big companies lobby the govt in making laws where the maximum number of guns could be sold. Now, I am an Australian citizen and have been living in Aus for the last 11 years. It’s next to impossible to get a gun licence here in Australia. We have strong legislation “The Firearms Act” here in Aus. A person applying for a Gun licence in Aus would either need approval from the chief commissioner of police or an exemption from the governor in charge which is next to impossible. Normal citizens can’t carry guns in their day-to-day life as compared to the US with their crazy love for the second amendment. Gun licences are very easily obtained in the US. There are frequent monthly school shootings in the USA which are heavily scrutinised here in Australia. The whole argument is that why can’t the US ban guns just like Australia did in the early ’90s? We had a shooting here in Australia back in the 90s after which it was next to impossible to own guns for normal citizens. Which resulted in no gun violence. Trust me on this. True we have crime in Australia. But it’s minor offending and not something that results in the death of individuals. Think like this school shootings are like a terrorist attacks. Have you ever heard in the media that school shootings happened in Australia, New Zealand or even Canada? The main reason is the strong laws in Australia that are there to protect its citizens. Now the population of Australia is less than the USA. However, even if you compare statistically, deaths resulting from assaults/guns are next to none as compared to the USA. If some lunatic people can’t have access to guns then how can they do school shootings? It’s something to think about. The government in the USA don’t understand that as they are busy pleasing the big ammunition companies. Also, I don’t get why some American citizens advocate and are in favour of the second amendment. If you can get rid of a weapon that is capable of killing hundreds of people in a few minutes. Why would you not just ban it? The USA has so so many school shootings, shootings in the middle of a concert and so on. Never heard of these types of shootings in Australia. America might be good in many other things but it’s not a safe place until they change the gun laws. True there are millions of people living in the US safely but why would you even take a minor risk, especially knowing the gun laws where any lunatic can have gun ownership? No wonder why police in the US are also heavy-handed cause you never know which person could pull a gun out of their vehicle on a normal routine check or something like that. In the end, I would say data never lies. Do your research. Don’t trust the media but check the kind of offending in the USA and compare it with Canada. It’s not just my own opinion but are some of the facts. Definitely do some more digging into the topic. Wishing you guys good luck. Love your vlogs!

Honestly it’s very scary to live in the US. We want to move to Canada. Hearing all those shootings every few days. Some big some small. It’s very scary to go to even get groceries. You would think the states with stricter laws and more diversity would be safer, but you don’t know when and where the next shooting could take place. I would suggest stay in Canada. It’s much safer. We don’t hear any mass shootings happening there.

Not sure if this is the right analogy but for me it is like how we used to feel about terrorists bomb attacks in India (especially 10+ years ago when they were a lot more frequent). Do they happen ? Absolutely and it is a concern. Is that faring in our mind every time we go out or kids go to school? No. Also note that gun laws can vary from state to state so choose where you plan to move accordingly.

Ravish, there are many problems in US but trust me, it's still better this cold storage. You have lived in US so you know, and your son can sponsor your green card anyway when he turns 21. Canada > US only if you are a uber driver, construction worker or a bus driver. Its hell for skilled workers. People who have never lived in US would jump on this comment, because they haven't experienced US. I came to Canada after staying a decade in US, and so far have spent 2 years here. I moved to India from US, didn't like it there and moved to Canada after 3 years. I am literally pissed off from Canada in 2 years - jobs are very grunt here and lack quality and pay. Many people in my company are PhD from University of Waterloo and U of Toronto and doing grunt work here. 2 people from my team (white Canadians) moved to US last year for better work. I am in a wrong team in Canada, and looking for a relevant position from last 3 months. Total 10 profiles in whole Canada, out of which 6 called and 4 said your resume only matches 80 % with our requirement. On other hand, even without applying I get contacted by recruiters every one or two weeks for relevant positons in US. My colleague in US, from Bangladesh had received green card easily. He was very average, failed to crack interviews, but after getting green card and US citizenship, he has worked at top R&D positions at government contractors. Right now he would be getting at least 200,000 USD of base pay. Not just money, quality of his work is too good with interesting research problems everyday. In Canada, I have seen many people with Master's in Electrical/Mechanical engineering become realtors or manager at walmart as they cant find work (even though they are not in licensed occupation). And his individual house (not the shitty detached ones Canada has), 4 BHK and 3000 Sq feet costs $700,000. Whereas in Toronto one gets, 130K and a tiny shitty house is 1.5 Million. Not to mention the slow and ridiculous healthcare system, lack of jobs, shitty and broken roads. The way they are taking people in without building houses and schools, it would get even worse. At this point, I am even considering going back to India. Sure, pollution is there, people are rude, society is in mess but is it worse than compromising with your career, living in 6 to 7 month winter, away from family. In 10 years in US, if someone used to ask me, have I any complaints with US, my answer would be "Being away from parents". For Canada, you already read my rant.

There is no way you can control the environment around you therefore you pray to god for everyone's well-being. The only thing you can do is explain to your kids and your family to be alert to your surroundings. All middle and higher-level schools in the US have something going on that you don't want your kids to be involved in so my advice is to be focused and keep them busy with activities and stay alert.

If you have already made 90% your mind, there is no point to worry about safety, there are lot of Indians settled in USA. If safety would have been an issue, people would have left. There is more chances of people dying of car crashes than gun violence.

I am going to be truly honest with you guys, Violence or Gun Violence have been on the rise in the US since I don't even know. You hear about shootings left and right everyday, it is kind of scary that you don't feel safe and comfortable in a country that's been known for Freedom. Like you said, it depends on what kind of areas you live in and just try to mind your own business and always be careful and cautious of your surroundings at all times. I am pretty sure even in Canada, we hear about stabbings happening, but not as Gun Violence. It's totally up to you guys if you want to move to US (safer areas), also which schools for kids are good and safe, and also your guys jobs. I live in NJ, in the same area you guys have been before when you lived at one of your friends house and ate the spicy biryani, and I have not felt unsafe yet, and I am pretty careful who I get myself involved with and always be on a lookout for something suspicious.

well we have been here since decades and touch wood we never encountered any issues in our lives, off course it also depends where you guys wanna stay, its very important to chalk out your plan in the right manner for example choose residential areas and school district as per points if its 9out 10 or 10out of 10 depends ... also depends which state you wanna moves ya if you see its risky anywhere you go but off course one has to see the where about s etc of which place you would be choosing to reside. all the best for your new endeavors.

Ravish, think seriously about your decision. Mass shootings are a reality. It is not mere entertainment in the media. Traveling Desi also purchased a rickety motorhome and lost USD 25,000. When people warned him that he will lose his money, he kept justifying to his viewers that he has made the right choice. I believe if someone has already made a decision, then they will find all reasons possible to justify it. But best of luck to you
