Shooting the engine is NOT the only thing you can shoot to ruin the vehicle. Shooting the fuel tank will ruin the vehicle much quicker and use less ammunition.

Like archery, ammo condition affecting gameplay is a feature that used to be in DayZ, but was removed in the 1.0 full release. Back in v0.63, I know for a fact ammo condition did increase chances of weapon malfunction, even on a pristine weapon, with pristine mags. If I recall, badly damaged ammo had a chance of catastrophic failure where it would have a pressure spike and damage the firearm either 1 or 2 stages, meaning if you used badly damaged ammo in a damaged firearm, there was a chance a faulty round would actually ruin the firearm. We treated ammo of any quality lower than worn as pure junk, not worth risking putting in our guns. As for the fishing, I'm pretty sure you've always needed bait. It would make no sense for a fish to just bite a hook. Something that would be cool is if the fishing lure were changed to look like a minnow, frog, or maybe a spinner, as such lures IRL don't need bait applied. There is also an old rumor that I think is true, as it's happened to me on empty servers WAY back, like before v0.60, that if you vault over an object (back when you couldn't climb fences, only vault over low ones) with a loaded gun in your hands, there was a very, very, very small chance you slip, and shoot yourself with your own gun. This happened enough that some of us veteran DayZ players still stow our guns before vaulting or climbing. I don't think that mechanic has been in the game for quite some time, though.

The meat one could use a little more tweaking. Pristine with food refers to if it is rotten or not so a freshly cut animal will always give pristine meat. The amount bar is what could change from usuing different quality knives or from knife to hatchet to axe.

@RavPlays , with the ammo being damaged, it used to be a thing that damaged ammo would increase the chance of jamming which is why you used to be able to repair it, but then they removed it, also with the fishing, it used to be possible to catch fish without bait.

You can't out run a grizzly, you can't out climb a grizzly, you can't out swim a grizzly. The consensus seems to be your best bet is to lie down, protect your squishiest bits, and hope it fucks off. Not that lying down instantly ends the situation.

I loved the interaction with the wolves in that game. One time I was on a good run, and was ambushed by a pack. Passed out, woke up- took an adrenaline shot and ran for my life- I was stalked for miles by one wolf, and the only thing keeping him off me was my torch, and the occassional flare that I threw in his direction while I hobbled back to the cabin I called home. I might add the passing out/blacking out in that game was really immersive as well. Waking up and stumbling around in panicked a circle like a drunk looking for where they went, thinking I was screwed before I remembered the shot was in my bag, was a really cool and immersive experience that required zero bad-guys; just me, the weather, and the wild-life. Pretty awesome.

I think the myth about medication killing you dates back to when heart attacks were in the game. The mechanics behind it were really opaque and mystical, not well understood by anyone. You just kind of dropped over dead every once in a great while if you didn't have a defib and battery.

12ga rubber slug point blank to the head IRL would very likely be lethal. Even a paintball point blank to the temple can be lethal, given the gun is tuned to a higher pressure. Big reason why the range we played on growing up had a "no headshots within 15 feet" rule. Especially true if you run frozen paintballs to make cheaters call their hits.

@@ErinHoneyBunny WOBO tested this years ago. They didn’t then. I couldn’t find any notes designating it ever was. What I’m telling you is people are mistaken. They forget they picked up a 40mm or a landmine or whatever then think they exploded from a hand grenade. They didn’t. People right now think you still can, and will swear you will. Doesn’t make them credible. That’s why it’s a mythbusting video. You should try to not have things flying way over your head before you insult somebody.

Great video, thanks for spending the time to confirm or deny the myths. One thing concerning the condition of ammo. Today I was shooting with a pristine Welrod MK 2 without a mag and it jammed twice within a couple of shots. The bullets turned out to be badly damaged. I then opened up a fresh pack of .22 and used those bullets instead, had no more jams that session.

Bears won't stop attacking you if you lay down, -but so long as you don't damage the bear in any way- , it will only knock you unconscious and then wander away. -If you shoot the bear as it's charging you, and it knocks you out, it will deathblow you.- (Redacted - see below.)

Yea I think the myth was a little obscure. If you don't attack a bear it won't kill you THEN when you wake up you just lay there still and it will wander off. It isn't simply lay there from the get-go and it won't attack you.

You just have bad luck. Ive never been killed by a bear after being knocked out. And yes I shoot them every single time. There was one time 2 bears rushed me, woke up had 3 cuts and was on flashing blood, a quarter health but didnt die.

Only way they kill you is if you're already low on health or they just get multiple hits on you without triggering the unconscious state.

Do some tests on mushrooms spawning in the forest. I think you can spawn mushrooms in front of you as you're passing through, so that would make them a bad indicator of nearby players.

This is true. Things spawning in front of you are not indications of nearby players. Things spawn within a ~100m radius of you as you travel. Rocks, fruit, mushrooms etc…If you sit in that area (camp), it’ll start to spawn more and more. It used to be like every 5 minutes another spawns. So if you’re traveling through woods, near fruit trees and you see several items spawned near each other; Somebody is very recently near and possibly camping. If you’re traveling with more than 1 person it can increase the spawn around you. If you’re ever starving just camp in the woods, or near fruit trees without panic. Stay right within that 100m circle. Walk around every 5 minutes or so…food will just keep spawning. Done it many times.

Good video mate, keep them coming. Grenade shooting needs more testing. It's confirmed that they explode when ruined and maybe you were shooting at pristine ones? So maybe they can take more shots just like that pistol you were shooting at? Then there's the matter of the vest, what if it protects the items inside it or attached to it as long as it's not ruined? You shoot at the vest, it gets ruined and then the grenades start taking damage. And if they were badly damaged from the start, it may be that all it takes now is one shot from a high caliber weapon. Needs more testing to be sure.

yeah i’ve had plenty moments of grenades, either in my own vest or enemy vests, exploding. Few days ago my buddy sniped a guy, we check the kill feed and he blew up from a 40mm grenade. He just hadn’t tested it enough!! ^_^

40mm grenades of every type will blow up. Landmines as well. They will not if you place them inside your plate carrier pouches, or in a container in your clothing. A pot, a first aid bag, a dry sack and so on. Place that in your backpack or clothing, they will no longer explode. I’m not sure why with the pouches, theoretically it’s 2 layers I guess because the carrier is 1? WOBO has tested this.

The gas tank cover on a car or truck directly affects the engine and will ruin just as fast. I can confirm as of 1.22 but not new updates. Wobo had a vid of unpinning a flash and attaching to your vest and it would flash the user but would everyone else.

Grenades in clothing will DEFINITELY have a chance of exploding if you are shot - especially if the grenade is already badly damaged. Grenades in DayZ trigger the explosion when ruined (exactly the same as a propane tank), and any item in your base level clothing inventory can be damaged randomly when shot. If it so happens to be the grenade that takes the damage, and it takes enough to be ruined... well, if any buddies are standing next to you they're gonna have just as bad of a day as you are. If you want to keep yourself safe from spontaneous explodification, put your grenades in "secondary" inventories such as pouches or those yellow protection cases.

@@pulloutpadawan420 I did watch the video - he drags one grenade into the target's clothing and you cannot tell what its initial condition was. However, after he's done shooting, he checks the condition and it's badly damaged. I'd say another couple of shots and he might've had a different outcome. Having the grenade in a "grenade slot" doesn't make it any more or less likely to explode, either - as I recall, it's still got the same chance of taking damage from a shot to that hitbox. If you've got good condition grenades, you'll most likely die from being shot far before the nade goes off. Sprinkle a couple badly damaged grenades into your inventory after a military loot run, though? If someone sprays you with an AK, you might take a buddy with you. Off topic, though, your name is fucking amazing.

I can confirm that gas filled Jerry cans do not combust when burned. Dayz does not have a script to trigger such an event. All they do is become ruined, and unlike explosives, it would not make sense for them to explode when destroyed by other means.

An argument could be made to let the jerry-can "Detonate" on going ruined, but it would need a conflagration effect instead of a boom. :D Imagine filling a barrel with gasoline.. bwhehehe-

They're kind of neat - on detonation they basically spawn a particle effect and a little area that emits tons of heat and white phosphorous smoke (think like a campfire on steroids) and if you're standing in it, you die in like two to three seconds and all your shit gets ruined from the fire. But it is kinda janky, so yeah - not sure the DayZ engine could handle *proper* fire very well.

The vitamin trick does work to an extent,i did get sick after eating two bear steaks on a vit, so think the dosage is at play aswell.

Actually you have to « finish to digest »before the effect of the vitamins wears out to avoid being sick. So if the food stat is still going up after the pill animation disappears, you’ll get sick. Thats not a big issue tho, as you can cure stage 1 of salmonella with vitamins as well

Landmines, 40mm (launcher) grenades, including PO-X, and smoke variants WILL explode in your inventory when ruined or on your vest. Gas canisters will in your inventory as well, as stated. They WILL NOT if they are in plate carrier pouches OR 2 layers deep on your body. Meaning a container in a container. A pot, a first aid bag, dry bag etc…I have argued with people about the grenade thing for ages. Assuming nothing has changed without them mentioning it over several patches, you may want to test launcher grenades, landmines, canisters on you and 2 layers deep. A test I’ve never seen though is if quality of ammo degrades weapons and magazines faster. For example if 3 perfect pristine weapons and magazines fire all pristine, damaged and badly damaged ammo will the equipment go to worn, damaged etc…at the same amount of rounds?

All vests used to soak the same amount of damage on their first hit- it was subsequent hits that defined their armor quality as some would be ruined immediately while others would take multiple rounds. But yes, as I remember, vests used to all protect the player equally on the first shot.

I know for a fact around .60 alpha time you could drown, I remember laying in the ocean frequently after getting bad spawns to suicide, it was really buggy though, you had to go prone in the water and crawl until right before it would put you into a swimming animation.

On xbox theres a huge problem with greifers placing campfires on roads. It stops the car in it's tracks, likely killing the driver. Also, once again on xbox, you can auto load (yy) a magazine that is low ammo when you have full mags. Don't know why, or remember what update it was, but it's happened to me and a freind like 3x through 2021-2

You don’t get bleed damage when you lay down when a bear attack you, it worked for me every time but I dunno if I just got really lucky.

You got lucky. I usually lie down, because bear is trying to hit you in the upper part when standing and he sometimes misses the attacks and leaves you alone when lying down (usually works on hills or near trees). However that doesn't always work and I will get cuts and get KOed when lying down, even with plate carrier.

Grenades used to explode when shot. Like you said a lot has changed and been updated over the years. The fishing with no bait only works on Namalsk. Back packs used to work as a bullet shield. Even when destroyed. They only changed that fairly recently. You can also drink dirty water if you take a vitamin first. I think it also reduces the chance of getting blood poisoning from healing with unsterile rags too.

i need to test this on my private server. i've had poor steaks with good knives and good steaks with bad knives, all single head shots. but ive never tested type of knife at equal levels.

I think it would be really cool if they made welding masks stop flash bangs and any other bright lights, just change it to where it just makes a lot smaller and less intense flash, I was disappointed that it didn't work lol

AP rounds degrade the armour faster, not do more HP damage - they are still better against a plate than standard 9x39mm Three rounds will ruin any armour and then you dead. And the RPM is 900 right? With 30 round mags now …

I caught a red herring fish on the island by kamby, on Chernarus one time. Couldn't find any reference to it online and was unfortunate enough to die shortly after catching it. I caught it on the pier by the lighthouse and have ran into other players that claim to have also caught it from fishing piers. for the water you can also drown if you are in a lake or pond and you use a action that causes player to bend down such as repairing items with sewing kits, breaking sticks etc… the player bends inside the water and you can see the screen give the drowning animation. You need to be deep in a pond or lake or water.. deep that youre still standing but not swimming, like at the cutoff then do the action. I know because i placed my chest in a pond by walking forward until he swam and drops it automatically, then one day i needed to repair my stuff and my sewing kit was in my chest so i walked to it and repaired my clothing and i almost drowned lol

you CAN fish without bait, i do it all the time to not waste my knife so i can still skin the catch. it randomly can be fast or take forever. Best to just move up/down the stream if in 5 mins you havent caught crap

@@ghomerhustAP rounds function weirdly They degrade armor health faster and to give a really short example of why they are good Let’s say a normal 9x39 round does 25% of damage per shot then it would take 4 shots to ruin the plate carrier and the first 3 shots would do reduced damage while the 4th shot since it “ruins” the vest will do full damage pass through same as if someone wasn’t wearing the vest While 9x39 armor peircing will do let’s say 40% damage per shot that means you hit the vest 2 times and the third bullet will do full damage Also important 25% and 40% are not the real armor damage values but it works to explain the argument and is still a true thing just wrong numbers bc I needed a place holder To explain it slightly differently the bullet that “ruins” the armor will do full damage since AP does more damage to armor they are better against vests and helmets

I'M not sure I'm completely right but I've watched a WOBO video on armor piercing and i think it does more damage to said plate carrier ultimately rendering the actual plate useless quicker than non armor piecing for a faster kill since the armor would be rendered useless.

I've heard damaged ammo increases ware on weapon, I believe shooting animal in head damaged bones and even though arrows always the same I believe better stats make your health Regen faster I've also heard codiene makes health Regen faster and I love to know what the benefits of getting your skill all the way to the needle side would do.

Maybe it was just some glitch but opened dog food can really seems to attract wolf ,and gives you enough time. If you get attacked near edge of map , run out , animals can't run out of map, at least on console ps4
