The ballad "Changes" from Sabbath's Vol. 4 is a great listen. It has some wonderfully effective orchestration in the background, as well.
@azzmcmahon7483
@azzmcmahon7483 2 жыл бұрын
I prefer Ozzy's vocals on "Solitude" - harrowing and beautifully sorrowful. As for the orchestration, that's actually Geezer playing a Mellotron - a keyboard instrument that has magnetic tape recordings of strings, which were often used in the 60s and 70s, but were highly temperamental and often broke down. Tony played the piano.

Killer riffs! I knew Lex was gonna love this. You have to think about when this came out - 1973. They were trailblazers...pioneers of metal, baby!

Black Sabbath again!!! Takes me back to those trips to the beach with Sabbath in the tape deck. Speaking of which put (First Class - Beach Baby on your list Look for the full 5 minute version) Remember that back in the early 70's AM radio was king and had a 3 minute time limit so many songs were 'Chopped up' to comply.

"Black Sabbath is to metal as a corpse is unembalmed"! I'm a old metal head that has been a Sabbath fan for fifty years, and that is the best metaphor I think I've ever heard! Cheers! And keep up the great work!

Lex totally got it! iWhat I also like about Black Sabbath is how they suddenly in the middle of all come up with a beautiful melody. This group is one of the three major heavy rock bands, that were the originally bands creating heavy rock Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin with each their own style. All a must to know

That drop in the middle of this song is what got the 10 year old me into heavy metal. It was the early 80's and my music mind was impressionable. Never been the same since. I am glad to see Lex dig into it, too.

He should be in the Rock & Roll Hall of fame as a solo artist as well, his playlist I have still, just of his hits and classic solo songs, is over 4 hours long. Ozzy is forever! 🎸
