These guys who surf Puerto are warriors and gladiators and every time you paddle out is a battle for life. That paddle out was one of those that paddle, paddle, paddle and you turn around and the beach is twenty feet away! Then if you make a wave, but don’t get to kick out or get axed, end up in the wash bowl. Seems like a shallow sandbar that dumps into a big depression and you are stuck in the rinse cycle. Nice to see waves like Puerto that are shown with the regular guys out there and not only the pros. Thanks for showing the regulars too. Not every wave is perfectly made and it all looks so real and raw.

Ugh, I feel your pain. Big beach break paddle outs can be brutal. I've been surfing beach breaks for 50 years and still haven't figured it out. My friends wait on the beach until the inevitable 20 wave set beats me to a pulp, and then they paddle out.
@liuyloui2 жыл бұрын
My philosophy to this is a bit different. Waiting seems counterintuitive because you will still be ahead of whoever is waiting on the beach if you just send it. Sure you might get pushed back a bit, but in the end you're still making forward progress and will make it out faster than people who are waiting

I really appreciate you leaving the natural sounds because it brought back great memories from 35 years ago. I felt like I was there I would recognize that wave of anywhere. The power is unmistakable and unforgivable. I had a click in my back every time I paddled for the next 9 months from a tough fall there until I went to a chiropractor and got adjusted. Even though I got hepatitis from surfing down at the point because I had an open wound I still have great memories of that place. Thanks again for such a great video = very realistic.

I surfed Puerto in the mid 90's and got some epic waves! I caught one and the looked back out from the shore break and saw a lull, so I paddled straight back out instead of swimming out through the channel. I was halfway to the lineup when a wave came, and I paddled as fast as I could, the thing landed square on my back with a 3foot lip as I was duck diving. It pulled my rash guard up over my head and pulled my shorts to my ankles! I'm surprised that my board did not break. Caught a few more waves that day and checked out the point the next day! The point was firing!!!! Great adventure!

Heavy hard break, I surfed in Acapulco when I was stuck with not a dollar for a week, I stayed in these folks walled off yard cuz they rescue us from camping on the sand n told us that if we stayed on the sand that wed wake up with machetes to our throats n a crazy demand for dollars, im from the hood n when my dollars are gone then that's it, wait till lucky pay day. N so there wasn't any post surf partys but the waves were fkn huge n I'm from LALA California so 6 foot isnt an impossibly however yikes though I'm not scared it was a crazy week in witch I almost drowned 2ice, cuz of the heavy long hold downs, Mexico is sometimes super gnarly .

There were some giant near shore all foamy bubbly white water waves.never seen such large a white formed waves...those conditions are brutal for those who don't know.in white water you can't swim,tread water,keep surfboard from sinking you can't tread water to come up for air after a big slam wave ,you have to be lucky and catch a current or swish that churns u up for air ,or push off bottom once your legs. Quit flipping and can locate it,or wait.....till the bubbles and air leave from the wash enough to tread water and actually swim or paddle to the surface.can be a scary thing when you can't wait that long because the wave landed on you and knocked your air out some then you can't find bottom.
