In the early days of Chillhop Music, we launched a series known as Raw Cuts. It focused less on lofi "study beats" and more on gritty boom-bap instrumental hip-hop. After two successful compilations back in 2017, we wanted to dig through our back catalog for a revitalized and revived installment. RawCuts Revived features nighttime graffiti vibes alongside our Raccoon mascot, so it's only right that you play this one after the sun has set.

While this is an excellent compilation and possibly my favorite release from CH records in quite some time (when's the vinyl dropping?), after giving it repeated listens I'm not sure "gritty boom-bap instrumental hip-hop" actually describes this. I mean, listen to the stretch from 32min to 52min, that sure sounds like lo-fi study beats to me. Not that I don't love many of the tracks in there, I do, but I am saying that I would love to see more of what the description seems to indicate this compilation contains lol. I have been listening a lot more to SteezyAF for the last year or two as CH records has drifted more and more into "music to sleep to" territory, which I just am not that interested in. I wish I could find more of the "gritty" beat stuff.
