The King Tides paired with large west swell led to 6 days in a row of rideable River Breaks at the local watering hole. Here are some answers to the most asked questions that I get about this river wave.
"Will the beach come back?"
-In this case the beach returned back to its original shape over night because of the energy of the swell and the king tides. The sand that was washed out to sea is washed back up by the waves and tides. And it can take less than a day to do so.
"Why are you wasting all that fresh water?"
- this is not fresh water. It is brackish water because it is a tidal estuary. Most of the water is actually just water from the ocean that fills the creek bed up as the tide gets higher.
"what about all the fish?"
-If there are fish in this creek they are going to be intertidal fish and not freshwater fish. If a fish were to end up being taken by the current out to the ocean it would likely survive just fine because it was a salt water fish to begin with.
"Is this dangerous?"
-As with any of natures elements this river wave can be very unpredictable. The current and strength of the water can be very dangerous especially for kids or dogs. some people think that it would be no problem to walk across and they quickly find themselves losing their footing, Iphones, and sandals while they get swept out to sea.
If you have any other questions please leave them a comment and i will do my best to get you an answer. Thank you for watching.

I love watching the power of water. Years ago, while camping at San Simeon Creek, I watched the creek swell. It finally breached naturally and I continued watching until the rain made me too cold. I was there about 2 hours.

Hi! I found your video after seeing a reaction by @markchrispy. This is so cool and I had so many questions, so thank you for addressing them! Do you keep EMTs on standby or as surfers are you all pretty trained with CPR and first aid? Also, are there ever dangers of underground cave-ins or damage to ecosystems? I'm thinking it must NEED to be done in order to prevent worse problems and I think this is such a fun, positive way to get people involved. How often does this have to be done? Thanks again for answering, I'm just very curious 😁

It's a creek and the ocean pushed up a sand dam. The tides will quickly create another one. There's multiple videos on this channel at the same place doing the same thing multiple times. If there's enough rain it does it naturally.
@DeborahRosen99
@DeborahRosen99 Жыл бұрын
@@highdraglowspeed402 Look how much of the beach was eroding from river action - and how much of it was falling in from all the people stomping around in the sand. It's fun and games now, but it'll come back around to bite Orange County in the rear when they have to pay for beach remediation and rebuilding because people accelerated the natural rate of erosion so dramatically.
