I grew up in LA, and lived there until 2000 when I joined the Air Force. I retired 2 years ago and went out there for my uncles funeral who served in the Army during WWII. I had been seeing some of the things on the news about homeless encampments, but since I don’t believe what I see on the news I wanted to see if it was true. I took the 101 on the way home and I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was like a third world country. Homeless encampments on the freeway, overpasses, and streets. Capitol records was surrounded by vagrants. There is no glamour left in that once great city. The mayor(s), city councilman, police chief(s), and governor need to be locked up for allowing this to happen.

When it gets colder, you will see big fires near freeways. Like the size of a fire that you see when a car/RV burns down. Homeless people trying to stay warm with open flame fire, and it gets out of control and burns down their encampment and nearby brush. I think I saw about 1 fire every 2 weeks or so win 2022 - 2023 winter. I drive around LA country btw. I wonder how many such fires I will see this winter.

Jack Osborne and his family are part of the problem. The get on tv and social media to back the ideas of the Politicians who created this mess in California. All for a quick buck. What stops Hollywood elitist like the Osbornes from doing the same in another state. You see in Austin, Dallas, and Las Vegas.

Reminder that Jack Osbourne's mother, Sharon Osbourne has donated almost 1 million $ to blm. Donations to these causes are at fault for the not so good state of California. Sillion Valley people and celebraties contributed to the situation in California and now they're upset because they don't let their offsprings play outside of the house.

Mike, I’m a retired LEO from So Cal. I worked in a city just north of LA. During that time the homeless issued exploded with the passing of prop 47. Then magnified with the no bail and COVID. We tried the wrap around solution but quickly found out that the only thing that worked to effect change was strict enforcement. We were just pissing in the wind… It was so frustrating! I’m retired now and moved my family to Florida… Thank you for doing these documentaries.

Gotta say, never expected to have the level of respect I do after watching this for Jack. It's crazy how a contrived reality show can skew how someone is presented to the world. Very impressed with the fact that he is as grounded and has earned all of the common sense he has now in spite of how and where he grew up.

i worked in downtown for five years. its crazy. just a few blocks from skid row, like a 5 -10 min walk, is the LA jewelry district... its very common to see Rolls Royce's, Bentleys, Lambo's... the list goes on.

Hello from Boston Mike. Our mayor just finally cleaned up a homeless hub in the city. Bostonians complained about the homeless issue, but it really pales in comparison to LA. I remember I was waiting for my flight from LAX back to Boston some years back. I had a FB page at the time. I typed this long ass post about the homelessness that I had just witnessed, a very heartfelt piece. LA’s homeless issue is next level. It baffles me that we live in a country that prints and burns money at such a fast pace, yet the homeless issue throughout the country remains. Granted there’s many factors that play a role such as drugs, mental health and so on, shit still sucks. The root of every societies inability to right its wrongs unfortunately is corruption. Thanks for sharing Mike.

Here in Portland Oregon we have spend Millions and millions and it has barely trickled down to the problem itself. 90% of the money is in the pockets of those "in charge" of solving the problem.

Just last week my mother traveled out to San Francisco to teach courses. Within hours of arriving and parking on a main street to go get some food and do some shopping, her rental car had the windows broken and all of her travel materials stolen including business phone, laptops, schedules, etc. The worst part is when she called the police department to report it, an automated system took her report and she wasn't contacted until 4 days later and basically told nothing will be done. She will never be back to California to teach courses.

I think people forget the #1 rule, _never_ leave anything of value out in the open in your car. Stuff that you don't want to get stolen should be hid from view, locked in the trunk, etc. 🤷🏻

Thanks for sharing guys,I'm from Wisconsin I was homeless lived in my van for year & a half Walmart s & loves truck stop I was aloud to park in parking lot,went through divorce & child support takes almost half my income,& now I have a one year old with my new wife ,can hardly make ends meet still! Lived in NorCal 50 yrs of my 60 and 3 yrs ago had enough and left. Lived in a quiet EastBay city and never saw homeless or crime for the 40yrs. Came to the point where mail on my street was stolen multiple times, we couldn’t leave the garage open even when doing yard work with the wondering tweekers around and if I put my trash out earlier then a couple hrs before the truck came it would be dumped all over and gone through. A beautiful state ruined by years of absolutely insane state politics.

I grew up here. I love my job. My family is here. I feel deep rage for what is happening to my home. I just turned 26, I feel like if I do not leave soon then I am wasting my life. I feel strong resentment for those in power, and those that are taking advantage of others hard work. My experience growing up riding my bike along the american river with my friends, unsupervised, is not possible. Kids arnt safe, law abiding citizens arnt safe, unless you have the money to live in a really nice area. Mental illness in rampant, and its not just the homeless. I used to work for one of the rental escooter/ebike companies (the green ones at 31:42 ) . Sometimes I would have to drive all over the greater Sacramento area retrieving scooters and bikes via GPS. I would find piles of bikes with no wheels. they would strip the ~1200 dollar bike for just the 26 inch innertubes. Ive seen large, uncontrollable fires started because they physically damage the batteries ripping them out of the bike/scooter, to charge a phone, once. Once I was attacked by a loose pit-bull and I had to defend myself with a pocket knife. Im lucky that I have experience handling large unruly dogs, otherwise, I would of been messed up much worse than I was. Nobody was arrested because the dog was left unsupervised to guard a homeless camp, that I had unknowingly walked into while I tracked a bike on the map My current job takes me all over northern california, bay area to tahoe, oregon to stockton. Its getting so bad, im heartbroken and infuriated. People EVERYWHERE, trash EVERYWHERE, traffic EVERYWHERE, EVERYTHING is expensive. The Rampant crime, bureaucratic nonsense, corporate greed that is happening here is what is going to happen to the rest of the country if people don't resist. I hate that I hate my home. I wish that I could do something about it. I HATE those in power. Realistically, newsom is just a puppet for the real masterminds.

I was born in LA and grew up there until 2013 years when I joined the Army. Even when I left home, things weren’t so bad. I used to be able to walk downtown, Hollywood, Venice and Santa Monica and things weren’t so crazy. I went back few times on leave and every time I went back it got worse and worse. But I realized that living away from the chaos was the main reason I noticed it.

Being here in the Central Valley of California for 20 years it’s crazy to see how bad it’s gotten. Camps off the freeway is a norm, overtaking our local trails near the river, one park in our city was closed down and turned in to a homeless camp. It’s fucking insane man

I was born and raised in Southern California. I had a vibrant childhood there, and it's sad to see my home state deteriorate like this. Venice Beach, for instance, used to be a wonderful attraction not just for tourists but for local residents too and now it's covered in homeless tents everywhere and many shops that Venice Beach is known for had to shut down because they couldn't handle the theft problem from the homeless there and law enforcement being unable to do much of anything.

That was an absolutely brilliant show !!! Jack Osbourne is awesome and is a very good communicator. I love the travel show he does with his dad !!! I hope we can all get this country turned around. I’m sure there are many deceased veterans rolling in their graves wondering what happened to the freedom they fought for ??? Including my own father who was a World War II P38 pilot and POW and just the greatest husband and father to my mother and 4 brothers !!!

Jack and his family are the problem. They back these politicians in California by going on TV and social media. All for a quick buck. What stops them from doing the same? Look at Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, Las Vegas, Tucson, and other conservative places. These celebrities move in complaining about California, but a few years ago they were doing ads for the politicians who create this mess. If you live in California, you see these ads and endorsements. Jack is part of the problem. He just has money and fame to move out. Leaving the average Joe and Jane to suffer in California. What happens when he needs quick buck? How will he sell out? You see it in California all the time. Celebrities back politicians. They drop off and start being “based” because conservatism brings money. Then they turn around and back the politicians again for a quick buck.

I've lived in L.A. my entire life. I'm 60 years old. I've lived in South Central, Hollywood, Mid City, Korea Town, Inglewood, Downtown. No disrespect to Jack, great guy. Good insight. This isn't the "real" LA. The real L.A. is much much much worse. He's a Celeb, so it's kind of like saying "I'm gonna show you NY," but you actually only tour the Upper West side. A lot of New Yorkers would say...."You didn't see New York." Melrose? The Valley? Hollywood? He gave you the "celebrity" sanitized tour. And, to Jack's credit, those nicer sections of L.A. that he took you to should serve as a warning to what it's REALLY like where lower class schmucks like me live. Jack's spot on with respect to how things are going, particularly with respect to LAPD. Coming into contact with LAPD (In the Subway System-is very common). I talk to the cops. I know they're Understaffed, under funded, and can "Not" proactively police. Mike Glover, I doubt Jack's seen the subway tunnels, the Bus stations. REAL L.A. Mike, love the channel. Hit me up. I'll show you L.A.! This was a "sanitized" tour compared to how bad it actually is............Ah.......skid row tomorrow? Now we're talking. Getting "warmer." Mike, ask Jack how many violent confrontations he's had to get himself out of since covid? How many weapons he's seen brandished on the Subway system? How many Smash & grab robberies he's seen? How often he's been present when civil unrest-looting and rioting breaks out? How many Escape / evade scenarios? Again, great guy, but an upper cruster. Ask me. I've got "real life" L.A. stories. Ask the guy on the street. Me.

Born and raised CA. I was homeless in LA lived in my truck. 2018 Had heart surgery. Life happened in 2020 during “zombie virus” and we moved out and never returned. The problem with people in CA, is fear of not having the same “California vibe”. No one wants to leave but they hate it. Dumb. Now I live in south Jersey. And love it.

Mike, I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley and still live here. Growing up as a kid/teen in the Valley in the 70's & 80's was awesome! It was such a great place to live and grow up in. Sadly it's now trash, it's overcrowded, and it's violent! Sure there are still some nice areas in the Valley, but overall it's just bad.

I have a story for y'all........I grew up very close to Jack and his family. He grew up in a 17k square foot home with ANYTHING he wanted at his finger tips.....His daddy is worth OVER 350 MILLION. He NEVER rode his bike...anywhere. He had butlers and nannies to get him whatever he desired..and he STILL does...so PLEASE don't listen to him attempting to inform you on ANYTHING having to do w the homelessness OR the politicians who ALLOWED him and his family to live the lives they all lead.....as he drives around in his 95k car that his mommy paid for....his entire LIFE has been handed to him. I had the same thoughts. There's a severe housing shortage in California. Not everyone can afford a 1500 square foot home for a million dollars or pay $2000 a month for a small one bedroom. Even the worst parts of LA have million dollar listings. All they are talking about are symptoms of the housing shortage. Talking about building a rehab center is a non starter because of the regulations that get in the way of building just about anything. CEQA is a huge root cause. Besides, surveys indicate that about 30% of homeless have a drug or alcohol problem and 25% have a mental health problem. So, the problem won't be fixed by giving everyone drug rehab. Why get clean and sober if there's no place to go anyway?

I’m a vet and another vet and I from MI went out to skid row a couple yrs ago to try and save a another vet that was living in skid row and addicted to meth. Eye opener and sad deal for sure. We found out afterwards that there’s a whole area that’s veterans on the west side👀🇺🇸🇺🇸 love what you do!!!

I grew up in Los Angeles / San Fernando Valley. Born in Northridge, went through the Earthquake... lived most places in the Valley. Encino, Tarzana, Mission Hills, Grenada Hills, Reseda, Sylmar... "and the list goes on" 😉 The "billions of dollars" spent on "fixing " the homeless problem ... is money they spend on cleaning up the mess from the homeless. They tell them to take their stuff to leave, bring in people to clean up the area and then the people come right back. They make another mess and they tell them to move, they clean up the area and then they come right back. That is where the money goes. There was also a real estate investor who owned several apartment buildings. There were tenants who had lived there for decades and there was some law in place or so.ething preventing them from being able to raise the rent. There was a court case that reversed that and then the rent was raised to amounts that many of the tenants could not afford with the raising of the taxes as well. What were the consequences of those actions ? ... It put many people, some with 2 jobs ... on the streets. Now, there are some statistics that show that when someone ends up living on the streets, I believe it was a 72 hour period (definitely less than a week) that if you don't get off the streets ... you will get stuck on the streets. Many women and teens will be sexually assaulted and some will end up deciding to sell their bodies. They will become depressed and end up using drugs. Welcome to the streets !!! No, I haven't lived on the streets, I know people who have and I have obviously done some research. I could continue however ... They have been banning me from commenting when I share certain information. If you would like to know more ... you can contact me and /or do the research yourself !

My parents came to LA from a foreign country so we could have a better life. Growing up here in the 90s was the time of my life. Always used to brag about being near the beach and Hollywood. Now I don’t recognize it. Moved to another city in California but my side of the family refuses to move on. Still they think it’s incredible. My in-laws are the same despite having their house burglarized twice in two months and they live in a “great expensive neighborhood.” Once retirement hits the wife and I are out. The people here are toxic and act as if it is so diverse and everyone is welcome when in reality it isn’t.

Same here. I've lived in the L.A. area my whole life. It was wonderful during the 80's and 90's. I slowly began to see things change in the early 2000's. Illegal immigration and liberal policies have destroyed this State. I don't even feel safe anymore, no matter what city I am in. I live in the San Gabriel area. But I've been seeing a rise in homelessness and retail shopping and car break-ins. This nation is in decline. I don't think there is anything that can save it. People have lost their morals. Especially women. I blame social media, and the stupid women on social media who act like whores.

But now the lawless mentality has spread to pretty much the whole State. People no longer fear authorities. They have learned what they can get away with. There is no consequences for stealing anymore. People are not stupid. They learn to play the system. In order for society to stay intact, there needs to be an understanding that those who break laws will be punished, and those who are law abiding citizens will be rewarded. But that is not the case anymore. It seems like politicians are purposely rewarding lawless people, while punishing those who just want to be productive and mind their own business.

Overpriced rental accommodation, drugs, mental health issues, all started this situation and it snowballed. Then came Covid and that made it worse. It’s out of control. If you own a house for a million you pay $20,000 property tax to look at that outside your house. Something bigger is going on here. Sadly, some people have no hope. Always a paycheck away from the streets in LA! Lived in LA for 20+ years and loved it, it has changed drastically for the worst. The rent is a major problem and it’s a Disgrace it has been allowed get to that level. The wages did not keep up with the rental increases.

I must say the homeless situation in LA is good. There must be areas that you have not seen yet or it is just to sprawled out to get the full intensity. In Portland we have mad max camps that stretch blocks and blocks. Any wooded areas are hiding massive camps and chop shops. Come up here Mike.

In Nashville, there are a good bit of homeless people but not as in-the-open as Portland. I lived in Portland back in 2014 and the homeless camps were wild. I walked up on an orchestra in downtown. It was like 50 people banging on buckets and cans. It was kinda wild. I tell people to look at the overpasses and interstate exits in Nashville. “You see that exit and overpass?” “In Portland those are filled with homeless people and tents.” They don’t believe me. 😂

California mails a ballot to EVERY name on their list of registered voters, which we know is very out of date! In fact, Judical Watch filed a lawsuit in L.A. county and was able to get them to clean up (remove) 1.2 million names! 1.2 million names!!!! Wonder how many of those 1.2 million names voted in 2020??? I'm willing to bet most if not all of them did and probably for Democrats too! And that is only L.A. county! i heard the same thing about the Due Process court case, you cant take homeless peoples stuff without process, you need a paper trail of due process. this started happening around 2012 when West LA was doing construction on the 405 freeway near Sepulveda and Olympic, they had to vacate homeless to complete construction, and the homeless there had full on tent cities. thats also the same time period that they began to allow sleeping on the sidewalk or sleeping in a car, prior to that, it was illegal.
