Thank you for the honest review. My PB (in the current profile pick) of 9 LBs, came off of the Googan Mondo Worm-Black/BlueFleck. It was just sitting on the bottom towards the end of the day. I had nearly given up because the bite seemed like it had stopped. Then BOOM! Rest is history. I do like the Bandito Bug as well. Caught a good 5 pounder on the bluegill pattern swim jig a few weeks ago. I don't always throw their lures/baits but I have caught some good sized bass on them.

If you like the Mondo worm, then try the Blitz Worm from XZone. It floats or stands up on bottom and gets a ton of bites!

I really appreciate the honesty in this. At 46 I don't really care for the squads "jackassery" and that brings some of the hate towards the brand but the baits are fine and have used some here and there. Another great take, nothing vanilla about it and very cool story. Thanks brother! Xzone all the way 🤙🏻

Yessir! So many people feel so strongly about them. Yet many don’t recognize how they opened the door for so many others. And absolutely XZone all the way! Between them and Castaic, I love them!

Well said, well laid out. So yes indeed, when it comes to Googan there are two aspects. The squad and the bait. I am almost 42 myself and I don't particularly care for the Googan squads shenanigans. As far as the bait, its a bait. If you know how to use it, how to manipulate it, how to put it in front of a fish, its going to catch a fish. I myself have not bought a Googan bait, nor do I planned too, but I do own two, the clickbait and a swim jig. I've caught quite a few good size bass with that swim jig. But that's all it is, a jig with a Googan logo in its eyeball. It has no magic powers. That being said, if I do come across a bargain on Googan baits I may purchase some, but personally its not a bait that I seek out.

I liked your insight and as someone who is “younger” I feel the same. I don’t hate the squad but I also don’t really care for them. I love fishing, hunting, and guns which I will watch those videos of theirs but the whole “fishing with a Barbie rod” or “can we catch bass with lettuce” type videos just aren’t for me. As for the product I can say I’ve used them a ton but if I had to use them I wouldn’t be upset but their not my first choice. I think 6th sense makes the best hard baits hands down no questions asked but I like Spro for frogs, Zman for elastic trailers the chatterbait and hellraiser, I tend to lean towards zoom for worms, reaction innovation/gambler for swimming plastics, and Berkeley has really been stepping up their game with their products so I’ve been using them as well. I say this to say I’m not brand specific but googan is probably a C- as far as grading goes. I’d use it and probably even buy it on sale but wouldn’t be my first choice. They’re definitely worth a try though.

One recommendation I would have is that if you like a popping/walking frog, try the Blitz Lures Popper Phrog. It’s way better than the Spro frogs in my opinion, and half the price. On Tackle Warehouse.

I really enjoyed this video. It’s the first video speaking not just about googan products because let’s be honest at one point EVERYONE has used or thought about using their products. And I like what you said I will still use the products because I do love them but I’m not 100% exclusive I love the products and companies you mentioned ex.) Xzone, Strike King, Castaix and going forward they are brands that I will actually lean towards more because of my confidence in the baits and products but also what they represent/stand for! I came across Rob’s new-ish channel and one day saw he had a Googan Squad hoodie on. Thought it was odd because I had no idea, I mean zero that he was the co-founder of Googan. I’m subscribed to probably 50 bass fishing channels, and also watched tons of his military stuff yet never watched any Googan vids so had no idea until this video. My mind is blown. And agreed their stuff seems fine to me.

He’s got a very interesting background, and definitely a mindset for business. It was good to visit with him from time to time. I haven’t watched any of the newer channels though. In general, I liked it more when him, LFG, Flair and the others focused on pure fishing tips and knowledge.

I like and still use the Bandito Bug and Rattlin' Chunk. I've used a few of the hard baits when I had a MTB subscription. They're better than OK. As far as the guys go, it's hit or miss. LFG is the best true fisherman in the crew. I don't mind an AYO video or an occasional Lojo video if I want to watch something silly...as long as they aren't polluting a waterway or breaking laws. I quit watching one of them solely based on his immaturity and mistreatment of the animals that he buys for clicks. I don't enjoy the wasting of money and the destruction of things that the average person wishes they had the opportunity to purchase. I also cringe when I see animals and habits mistreated for click bait. I am not partnered with anyone, so my tackle cabinet looks like a fishing store with all the different brands. I have noticed that once fishermen start hitting the water more-frequently, their range of tackle and brands shrinks drastically. Love the video!

Sodt plastics, meh, they rip if you're lucky with one fish. The hard/wire baits are good, except the click bait. Which leads me to why I cannot stand the googans. Their videos used to contain quality content, now its nothing but click bait. I dropped them years ago for that reason along with many other KZbin channels for that reason.

I can’t stand click bait thumbnails that actually don’t pertain at all to the video at all, or that are highly misleading. I haven’t used the actual lure “clickbait” mainly because I use the Chatterbait and Thunder Cricket and have no reason to switch.
