I wanna just wanna say... with all that is going on in the world with police shootings... as a black man myself.. i wanna give this officer a 5 ⭐️ rating!!! “Not trying to put color on anything just making a valid point” The officer was very professional from start to finish. All the suspect had to do was follow instructions that the officer gave him. Hats off to that trooper

@@MrOgstyler He never said anything about a cop having the right to shoot when they see a gun. The gun was in the glove compartment and the gentleman in the car went for it after the cop asked him to step out of the car. You want him to wait to be shot before taking action. This cop was very patient and a lot of cops should follow his lead.

I agree. He calmly asked him about the gun in his compartment and proceeded to talk to him about if he should have it or not and is it his. He didn't yell and panick after knowing there was a gun. Seems like he tried everything he could before pulling his from his holster. I believe that if the individual hadn't opened and reached for it the officer would have just went on with his questions and it didn't need to escalate to that level. I concur with your comment about only enough rounds to neutralize the threat. He didn't dump his entire magazine and reload. He didn't seem like he was bent on killing the guy. Very professional in my opinion. Now a disclaimer. I find it sad anytime a life has to be taken or someone has to use force on another human. So I am not choosing the officer's side but i do respect his actions. He has his head on straight. That's my few cents. Good comment by the way

@Michael Goldstar First, the perpetrator, Darius Jaquan Rogers, survived this shooting so I don’t know what “you witnessed” but it wasn’t what was on this video and it definitely wasn’t “murder.” Even IF the guy had been killed it would have been HIS fault and NOT the fault of the NCHP. The officer repeatedly told Rogers not to reach for his weapon in his glovebox but did it anyway. You can have a license to carry a handgun legally but if you reach for it while a cop has you pulled over the cop will obviously see this as a threat and fill you full of hot lead. He should. Bottom line if you don’t want to die then DON’T pull a weapon OR something that looks like a weapon on a law enforcement officer. Cops have to make split second decisions and sometimes that means taking a life. I’m glad the person survived but it very easily could’ve ended bad so no George Floyd payday for this idiot and his family.

Rogers was taken to WakeMed in Raleigh for treatment of three gunshot wounds to his back. He was released from the hospital six days later, the report says. During a subsequent search of the scene, investigators found a pistol later determined to be a BB gun, according to the report. The 40-X-P air pistol had the “physical characteristics similar to a Glock with no orange tip,” the report says.

@Sandy Lee ~ Nice observation skills. First off, he pulled the weapon out, tossed it on the ground and said _"firearm secure."_ That doesn't mean it's in a locked box, just that it's out of reach of the suspect. Next, they announced the car "clear", but saying the vehicle is "clear" doesn't mean it's empty. It means, basically, that all passengers inside are accounted for, and none are brandishing weapons. Finally, when the officer started backing up, he was actually moving back to his (or someone's) cruiser to get gloves. He can be _clearly_ heard saying (as he started backing away) _"Hold on... let me grab some gloves."_ Anything else you want to say that makes you look even _more_ foolish? I'm more than happy to keep correcting you!

Militarily trained? Possible. Did you notice his stripes on his shoulder? That means he's got experience and a college degree in pursuit of those stripes. I think this was a highly intelligent sergeant that has a lot if experience and showed it.

I had a crisis on the side of the road and a black sheriff's deputy put my tailgate down and sat me down and talked me through it. The guy even gave me gas money and a ride to the gas station. He saved my life if I'm being honest and he never once asked to retrieve my firearm from the truck nor did he search my truck. They only bother you when it's absolutely required and when they do they're down to earth and lenient if they can be. Those are johnston county boys at their finest.

I am Black and I will say "THIS IS THE CORRECT WAY TO PROTECT AND SERVE" These Officers did a great job. The first Trooper who shot did follow his training and did exactly what he was suppose to do, exactly how he was suppose to do it. I have a ton of family who are Police Offers and according to them once I showed them this video they agreed!
@handpayhustler4939
@handpayhustler4939 5 жыл бұрын
@James M Well James to answer the first part of your question of what does being black have to do with whether or not an officer performs their job correctly, well you would have to be black to really understand it. But I will say when it comes to cops who are RACIST being black absolutely plays a role on whether or not they do their job correctly. And to answer the second part "YES" there are many cops who just want to do their jobs and get home to their families. However cops who are RACIST have other plans in mind. For them doing their job and getting home to their family is the last thing on their mind once they come in contact with someone BLACK. Also the reason I made it known that I am BLACK is because there is a stereotype that BLACK people hate all cops due to the many injustices of unarmed BLACK MEN who have been killed! I have no issues with COPS who do there job, which is to PROTECT and SERVE, who do it in the way which they were trained and who are not RACIST!
@handpayhustler4939
@handpayhustler4939 5 жыл бұрын
@James M James please understand, one BAD cop is one too many, in the many cases where unarmed BLACK men were killed the majority of those videos caught on tape those people were also doing what they were asked. BAD cops and RACIST cops love to scream "STOP RESISTING" in an effort to persuade people who will later watch the video and those who are unbiased and are not RACIST can easily see the person is not resisting at all. One person shot and killed is TOO MANY! Regardless how many GOOD Cops you come in contact with or see doing what they are supposed to be doing will never make up for the amount of unarmed BLACK men killed already. Those men have families who will NEVER see them again. Also not just killing BLACK unarmed men, but also BAD cops killing other unarmed people as well, even using excessive force on people. So again Good cops are nice and all but the BAD ones and the RACIST ones over shadow that because if they didn't you wouldn't have so many people who can not stand COPS whether they are good or bad. You ask a lot of people how they feel about COPS and the majority will say they are nothing more than a GANG of PIGS and Thugs.

No way that is the majority. Most cops are arrogant, self-aggrandizing pieces of shit that can't help but have a huge bias and a pension for making peoples lives miserable while advancing their own. That's the standard for most and for you to talk about them in a cool, calm, collected manner, for you to insinuate that many are good and heroic is wrong and misleading. The majority are cowboys with a badge and have a high school education and lack the de-escalation skills it takes to be decent. Many of the detectives are okay but it's not the majority. Cops, firefighters, jailers, paramedics, and the likes are thuggy and a joke. They are often criminals themselves or close to it. Give them a chance to cheat, lie, or advance in a nefarious way and most will break their oath eventually to personally gain weather it be financially or vocationally or more often by getting a date they otherwise couldn't get. @@robertmalz6333 Judging by everything that happened the suspect did appear to have a gun in his hands. The officer warned numerous times "don't do it" but the suspect failed to comply and was subsequently shot 3 times. EMS was called and if you watch the full video they did say they secured the firearm. I disagree with what you said by they were only nice because they knew they were on camera. They all wear bodycams on-duty anyway, they are always on camera. However, you are correct that it is hard to say/judge without a body camera. If you treat a criminal like the human being (HB) they are ,with the respect all gods creatures deserve, you just might get that human being back. My dad was an officer. He actually used the word “man” in place of HB bc there weren’t as many female violent offenders back then. I’m not really sure what happened to the nurturers we portrayed women to be for so long. I’m sure they blame men, or trump. First off Im officially an ovary and uterus card carrying member of the female gender. FYI if chemically imbalanced in the slightest, women become…. This is the exact reason police approach every citizen with caution and the assumption of everyone is a threat. Asking you to step out of the vehicle isnt a power trip, its so your hands are visible at all times. Most of the demands are for thier safety. So when police are telling you to stepnout the vehicle or keep your hands where they can see them, try to have empathy for them and just comply. Don't give them a reason to feel threatened and defensive, chances are, that you will be the one who ends up suffering the consequences.

Why Mr. Rogers reached for a BB gun we'll never know the answer, but it seems to be a mental health issue that may have played a roll in his actions. 23:20 Without the equipment in place, they 100% can not save life. They have to gather it and put it together in a way that it will benefit them in emergent situations, where everything is exactly where they would know they could get what they needed to assess and then use the products to give life saving care. Police put their safety gear on, EMS has to also put that gear on or they break policy and if something happens and they are hit while on the roadway, they will not receive any kind of insurance payout. All in all, this scene was handled beautifully, skillfully, and professionally. They completed a successful takedown of an armed suspect, and the cops provided necessary first aid until EMS showed and took over the care. The entirety of the video officers were reassuring the suspect that they would get him help. He shouldn't be concerned with whether he went to jail but instead his heath. You clearly have no idea what it takes to take care of a situation in cases like this. Please look up policies for police and first responder responses in th nation before commenting, non-sense like this.

Sensationalism and prurience is what sells news, heroism and kindness, no so much. Kudos to the trooper involved in the shooting, calm, controlled, no excessive rounds. It's hard to be that rational, when your life is on the line. The top sergeant too deserves praise. He checked on the perp and saw first aid was being properly administered, then he checked on his trooper. ("You alright?" The trooper said he was fine, but it's always a concern.) God bless all at that scene, the perp included. I hope especially the Trooper is still fine; this shooting was clearly justified.

@@quebecredneck666 It took me a while to understand what you are saying. I understand what you are trying to say, but with one big difference. It is one thing to have a gun and "touch too close" and another to literally grab the gun and hold onto it while the officer tells you drop it. He yelled "Don't do it!" and "Drop it!" six times. I cannot see what is happening in the car, but I assume the suspect got a good hold of that gun and pointed it towards the officer. These aren't soldiers from Iraq, nor is this Iraq. The man had a gun, grabbed the gun, failed to comply to the officer's directions, and the officer shot him. What you claimed would be true if the officer immediately fired at the suspect right after he touched it. The suspect had a solid seven seconds to drop the gun. I am certain that someone can easily release a gun and put their hands up or on the wheel within that time period.

He practically begged the young man to just come on out of the car and not do anything stupid, said i already got all your info so we're gonna find you so just come on out. Then the kid made probably his worst decision in his life. Whats truly amazing is how after officer shoots him he immediately flips to getting things secure and then getting the young man help, the man that just moments earlier pulled a gun on him and could have ended his life now just minutes later this officer is fighting to help save that young mans life. There are good and bad people in all shapes,sizes,colors in this world. If someone can fight for someones life just moments after having that same person point a gun at him and threaten his life, then i think we all can probably do a little better at getting along with one another. 🙏
