Raw VS Graded...What Should You Collect?

Solid video highlighting the key points in the raw vs graded debate! As someone who’s had PSA damage my cards in the past, I don’t love the risk aspect of it, but it’s undeniable that there’s immense value with graded cards, and submitting and selling graded cards makes the hobby more affordable! If I had to go back and start all over, I’d probably choose to have a few graded cards in my personal collection, rather than try to grade everything, but I’m in wayyyy too deep now so I gotta commit and finish up my PSA graded hero collection 🥹😂 video coming soon on that btw!

Glad you brought up the grading consistency by PSA. I'm more involved in Pokemon collecting, but right now everyone (over there) is obsessed with PSA and the grade > the card itself. I ask for, and provide, closeups of the card for all slabs purchases and sales.

Yugioh is in the same boat! Def more people who care more about the grade over the actual card. Sucks to see it happening to Pokemon too. Your guys stuff is way more expensive as well. Nice to hear tho that you are taking the time to actually look at the card and not the grade 🙏🏻

Would love a deep dive into collecting 1st editions vs unlimited. As someone who was ripping packs growing up, I recently got back into collecting. I prefer the graded cards for sure. But was largely unsure where to start. Unlimited (for the nostalgia) or pay extra for the 1st editions? I rarely see anyone discuss this. Feels like most collectors default to 1st print runs. The history is certainly intriguing. And these concepts apply to pretty much any collecting (Pokemon, sports cards, books, etc). Cool video, thanks for sharing!

one thing you didnt mention is slabs can easily get scratched and scuffed which like a damaged cards doesnt look great

total agree bro...psa has been very incosistent with their grading as of late. I've cracked 6s that are near mint and 9s that are LP/MP. It's ridiculous. I will say finding raw minty cards is very difficult, I recently picked up a raw MRD 1st mirror force on ebay auctions which was literally pack fresh, but these are few and far between in my experience.

Yep, PSA is all over the place lol. And ya getting raw mint cards is very tough.

Re-grading also artificially increases the pop counts of a given card. Not great for stat tracking

I can't believe that people just accept grading companies grades with no description. Each card should come with a paragraph or two explaining what caused it to receive a given grade
