They don't make Geo structures and their kits could work mostly the same even transposed to other elements; they just operate on brute force thanks to damage multipliers to make up for limitations of the element. Noelle has her greatest damage multiplier locked behind C6 and a burst that can't be interrupted and lasts ridiculously long, Itto's entire kit is damage multipliers, and now Navia turns crystalized shards into some _massive_ stacking multipliers and front-loads her damage. Only difference with Navia is the new gimmick with shards and just how much they jacked up her damage to make her appealing to pull even for people hesitant about her element being Geo.

If anyone actually wanted to read the metachurl text, I have typed it all out fixing some typos in it. Geo is the worst element in the game. First of all, having 1 reaction is terrible regardless of the quality of the reaction. Anemo has 1 reaction in theory but in practice, they can trigger every reaction as secondary reactions while geo actually only has it's 1 reaction. This is not just a negative for endgame builds but for the new player experience as well. Let's just look at slimes. The amount of ways you can interact with a geo slime is very limited compared to it's other iterations. The blandness of geo environmental objects is pretty obvious if you compare it to the most common thing on the genshin map: water. Even if I ignore the inherent features of water (swimming, drowning, drowning enemies) we still have a substantial number of interactions enabled by an enemy standing in water. To be fair, this is not a geo only issue. All elements that aren't hydro or the grass (which is kind of dendro but not really) are rare in the open world (in many cases, it's basically just exploding barrels, lightning striking enemies or a flower setting the grass on fire etc.) But when it's there you can do something with it. Geo rocks are, in comparison, fairly common in the open world but you can't do anything with them. They can't even produce the sole reaction geo actually has access to. I know this isn't super relevant to us endgame players because everything dies instantly, but it does matter when you start the game. We all know crystallize is a bad reaction but a lot of people don't know how bad it actually is. Crystallize produces a shield that scales with character level, elemental mastery, and indirectly with defense (because it decreases the amount of damage the shield takes) but it's so small by default that you need elemental mastery to get a decent shield out of it. "How decent?" you may ask... well, it's actually a terrible shield. With character level, it goes from 91 HP at level 1 to 1851 HP at level 90 and getting a reasonable 219 elemental mastery will only increase it by a pathetic 60% bonus health to roughly 3000 HP. Even 1000 elemental mastery is just a 185% increase boost to a "decent" 5300 HP shield (this is about as much as what Noelle get's from her skill if you don't build defense for some reason). The base is unreasonably low and the bonuses you get from elemental mastery are actually the worst of all reactions (except melt and vape but those work differently). Keep in mind, these shields are actually pretty good at 17.5 seconds so at least you have good uptime if they don't break. The crystallize shields are elemental shields, meaning they are less powerful against anything other than their own element. This sounds pretty mediocre but not terrible... yet, the real issue of these shields is actually the existence of other shields. Geo teams almost always have a shielder in them and the way stacked shields work in genshin is incredibly stupid. When you have 2 shields on you and you get hit, they both take full damage without splitting it or one protecting the other. This results in a situation where a dedicated shielder will always make crystallize shields worthless outside of the niche situation of the 1k elemental mastery geo character and the no build shielder where the dedicated shielder might be the one who becomes useless instead. Crystallize is not just a bad reaction it's completely worthless 90% of the time. The only time you can really benefit from this is if you don't have a shield and either the enemy or your character is geo. I could also mention the fact that you have to actually pick it up which wastes time and probably even stamina you could have used in other ways but this point is already way too long. So the best option to optimize your team is skip geo characters.
