Hi John, I bought a Sana 727 from you recently. How does the Sana do with juicing tomatoes? I have an abundance of tomatoes in my garden and would like to try out your recipe. Thanks!
@discountjuicers4 ай бұрын
The Sana 727 can juice tomatoes :) That being said, the Sana 727 is a horizontal juicer that creates a more nutritious juice when juicing leafy greens and stem vegetables without cutting than a vertical juicer. However, the vertical juicers tend to juice a bit better. For best results: pick small cherry tomatoes that are FIRM, and then rotate the ingredients, put in a little of each item, including the jicama until you run out of produce and it will work best.

Hey John, thanks for another informative video! Can I ask you something: I like making big salads with all sorts of vegetables. However I find cutting all the veggies by hand rather cumbersome. Do you know a machine that will do the work for me? Thanks a lot!

I use a food processor. Most have many different cutting discs. My favorites are the cubing disc, slicing disc, julienne and french fry cutter.
@petermaier37254 ай бұрын
@@discountjuicers Thanks, John! Which food processor model can you recommend?
@discountjuicers4 ай бұрын
@@petermaier3725 I personally use the magimix food processor. www.amazon.com/shop/johnkohler/list/3GA3RRH9AWHKR?ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d It has a nice selection of slicing blades and is made in France. I also have the cuisnart listed in the above link, but only use the cube attachment for it, which seems "chinsey" but works.

@@discountjuicers Thank you, John! I've been looking at various brands and found the Magimix, which is actually my No. 1 pick at the moment. So great that you confirm! Regarding the models 5200 vs 4200 vs 3200: Which one do you personally prefer? For a single household, would you still pick the 5200?
@discountjuicers4 ай бұрын
@@petermaier3725 I personally can never have a large enough food processor, since I like to make big batches and then vacuum store them for later. So I would go with the 5200 or 4200, because the 3200 is so small some accessories dont work with it (from my memory).

I made this and drank some the next day but noticed that every time I opened up my glass bottle it made a small hiss sound like it was carbonated. Also had a very slight buzz fizz feeling close to the tip of my tongue, like when drinking soda but just not as intense. Does this mean it went bad? I only drank half the bottle because it bothered me and didn't seem normal Thanks!

Am I looking at the same jicama? I never heard about them untill you last video I seen. When I searched for them it said 250calories. Is that right?

Depends on the size of the jicama. 100 grams is 38 calories.

Hey john thanks for everything you do . But that jicama may contain toxins in the skin or does contain toxins i couldnt find info on the internet so i didnt include it anymore cause i was afaid if u didnt get all the skin off . Like if a cucumber skin just taste bad i might not worry about removing every bit of the skin but the jicama some of the internet says its poisonous

According to this published study www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/B9780323900577000036 an insecticidal compound called rotenone (C 23 H 22 O 6 ). This ingredient is to be found in the mature seeds but not in toxic amounts in the tuber itself or in any other part of the plant. … I have consumed LOTS of jicama (peeled) without a problem. Just cut all the skin off, it likely does not have the toxin, but may have other pesticides on it, so I recommend peeling in any case.

That helps alot that it likely don't contain anything just cut the skin off but no worries if it was deep enough or missed the slightest bit

I'd like to see you compare the Kuvings CB1000 vs the Sana 727 since those two seem to make the best juices.
@discountjuicers4 ай бұрын
In this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXqvdoGZg9WJhdk I compare the dynapro vacuum blender + Alexas bag vs Sana 727. Of course each have their own pros and cons. The vac blender made a higher quality and higher yield juice. that being said not every ingredient is conducive to vacuum juicing.
@jamesjonnes4 ай бұрын
@@discountjuicers When you compared the Vitamix Quiet One vs the Kuvings CB1000, the Vitamix had a darker color than the CB1000, indicating more oxidation. So, since the slow juicers had a lighter color, then the Sana 727 would be the winner? But the vacuum blenders seem to break the cell walls more, thus creating more juice. I'm still unsure which is better.
@discountjuicers4 ай бұрын
@@jamesjonnes I have not seen any data on this. Each method has its own pros and cons. For example you cant juice straight wheatgrass in a vacuum blender, where you could juice it in the 727 at 40 rpm, so for that task, clearly the 727 would be best. That being said, vacuum blender better break open cell walls and do it in an oxygen-deprived situation to minimize nutrient loss. So in general my feeling is that vacuum juicing is BETTER than slow juicing in most all instances.
@jamesjonnes4 ай бұрын
@@discountjuicers One can always add some liquid to make blending possible. I'm more interested in which method oxidizes the food more. From your experiment with vacuum vs non-vacuum blenders, it seems like the dark color in the green juice represents not only more content from cells, but also greater oxidation. Something similar seems to happen with some fruits, like apples, which become darker upon oxidation. I'm not sure about how good the vacuum is. It would be interesting to see some lab results comparing vacuum blenders vs slow juicers to see which has more oxidation. I'm thinking about making a cover for the blender that leaves zero air contact as it blends.
@discountjuicers4 ай бұрын
@@jamesjonnes a darker juice can be darker due to pigments/nutrtients in produce being released and/or due to oxidation, so that needs to be determined in a case-by-case basis.. It really depends. I personally say there is less oxidation in a vacuum blender, provided it pulls a good vacuum most good ones pull 20 inches of mercury.
