I know I'm late to the party but I'm new to the maker universe and I'm checking out how people get inspired and just dig into making props. I'd love to do light sabers for the boys in my life and this was a great tutorial. At the end when you pointed out how to change the caps to have a hilt only or a double saber I was chuckling at how clever that was. Do you have any advice on improvements now that it's been a couple of years?

Dang... That is awesome. If you want to duel with those, buy some elastic sylicone clear tube (like a cammel back pipe but much wider) and putt a PVC pipe rapped with the reflecting tape facing outwards (It needs to have smaller diameter than the clear tube) and put an "o ring" light on the bottom... That way you can duel with it and it reflects the light a bit more. But your idea is just perfect as a base. Love you!!!

Hi, excellent build. On my builds, I've used bicycle inner tube for the grips, works quite well. To make the blade thicker I've inserted 3 or 4 of those clear tubes inside one another by slicing them down the length. This would allow you to duel with them and not break them. I was able to get those tubes in blue red green and purple. For the switch you could use a Lego block to create a box for it. I've done that and used pop rivets to secure it to the hilt. BTW, your idea for joining 2 sabers together is quite clever, I must use it in further builds.

I want to use metal rather than PVC, but I think your design is great. I think the idea to have a screwable blade is ingenious! I have one only uses a single hex screw to hold it in place and it constantly comes loose when fighting with it. I think you design paired with a rubber washer would easily solve that problem. Awesome work!

Since you're into Star Wars props and there are some gun props on your display wall, I would suggest you make some Star Wars blaster props! I was thinking about the stormtroopers' blaster, Boba Fett's blaster and Han Solo's blaster especially. I mean, you can't make a Star Wars short movie without some laser deflecting action! That build was awesome by the way.

Very rudimentary, but a VERY GOOD base to build upon and can have a bunch of different saber applications! Obviously, this way is the cheap way if you just want something quick (And look good for the money) Suggestion, if I may, try looking into the TCSS (The Custom Saber Shop) They have a lot of individual parts. Which would come in handy in the blade department, since you can get colored transparent piping (I wanna say for 12 bucks max? Which isnt much considering how cheap you can make the whole build) And translucent caps. And you could instal it just like you did yours, but it'll be a bit stronger, and could help the colored light effect, both on and off!

+Jerome Dechant well you can replace the tube he uses in this video with a polycarbonate tube which is what the people that duel use. But you wont be able to achieve the same brightness/color/color intensity/awesomenes as the lightsabers you can buy at saberforge with just 1 LED. So i would recommend using multiple LED's (not sure how that would fit in a small space like that) or just using a different light source (again i do not know what light source the saberforge guys are using but im to lazy to check). I'm not trying to promote saberforge here but if you want some insight on what would probably be the best materials to use for a custom lighsaber check out www.saberforge.com

This is great! Although I would make the blade screw in, not use a clear tube (maybe thin pvc pipe ) and maybe more LEDS! Also if any of you in America (sadly nott me) want sound, go to Walmart and buy a space sword for 3 dollars and hit out the sound and use it in your saber!
