Thi is an amazing invention. Las saturday i took a seasoned trout near Bogota, Colombia on a river usually depredated by poachers taking everything using worms and trout eggs. The pool was over 1.5m deep and after no more than 30 secs took the neon green lure. Started with the black-charteusse combination and took some bites but not as decisive as with the neon green. I have both ultra light setups. One spin finesse and the other bfs. I use my spin finesse as a backup or for my kid when we go. Personally, I grew up spin fishing and fly fishing as a kid so spinning always has a place in my heart, but I’m really enjoying bfs right now, and also getting into surf casting as well. Love the videos Jimmy. Keep ‘em coming. Oh, by the way, bluegill make the best fish tacos. 😋 Keep the pan sized ones.

Bring em all if you can! Many rods are multi piece now for spin and casting, just like fly rods 👍👍

I feel I can make 2x the presentations in the same amount of time on a casting setup. Gear ratio and time spent physically casting both add up over time. However, you will never be able to replace what an ultralight spinning setup is capable of with casting gear. I will always own both.

While fishing is mostly preference... It's also about fishery. You know your fishery better than mine! Catch em good!

@@rawrfishing Exactly right. In my experience, the more times you present to a single bass the greater your chances are you are going to get bit. Change the species of that single fish to a Rainbow and the exact opposite is true. So you gotta weigh out the pros and cons for your particular fishery during that time of year so you can make an informed decision as to where your starting point is, and you might be wrong and have to adjust accordingly. I liken fishing to baseball in that as a batter you gotta be patient and it’s always a cat and mouse game of adjustments. All that being said, I will always have a spinning setup of some sort with me at least as a backup whenever I’m out on the water. So no matter what I’m always ready.

BFS is convenient and fun to fish if you have the right setup and technique. I really appreciate the surf fishing videos. The Ajing rods don't get much attention. And there only a few companies selling them on AE and BFE.

Love bfs! Can't go back to spinning for anything unless it's surf fishing for far casting! But as yall have seen. A lot of fish close up that even baitcasting can do! Even for the lighter lures! I should so whip out my UL Tsu dexterity rod for these trout mags! Be perfect for imparting motion for these trout mags!

Thx, gonna be a fun trout setup for me! It's is not a parabolic rod, but it is a moderate fast flexible carbon rod that bends a good amount since it's an UL rod!

@rawrfishing just bluegill but they would attack the trout magnet and not get the hook so I downsized and started catching them. 5 and 6 inch bluegill very small

Wow.. At this point tho. Fly fishing be amazing. Since my kid rather just dip the rod in, I plan on trying tenkara with him soon! Be so easy since those tenakra flies float and bluegill seems to love it more than plastics.

I’ve never really used a caster before but I’m really interested. I almost only fish UL lures up to 1/8 is my max, would anyone recommend a beginner caster? I was looking at the Daiwa Tatula 100XHL

Not all BC reels can do it. Especially the Tatula 100. You need shallow light spool bc reels called bait finesse. Check out my bait finesse videos as I got ton of reviews of many bfs reels. Such as this amazing one! Works out of the box half a gram! 1/8th Oz is 3.5g!

Thanks for the advice! I was wondering if I should get a regular BC before getting a BFS but I guess it’s really up to me and my fishery

That's right! You know your fishery best! But regular is gonna be easier as u use thicker lines. Thin lines are hard to pick them birdnest, and they snap
