definitely fun! Light tackle fishing can make a tough day fun. There was another guy who have been boating around trying for a topwater bite. i think he had a handful only before he called it a day. but i was nonstop catching for fun :). in about 2 months, everything will be on fire! can't wait!

Thanks for the love! If you want to use longer leaders, make sure you practice and master the Fg Knot. Another good one is the Albright knot (not Alberto). For the two knots, you must know how to do the rizzuto finish!

I casted around 1 gram mark on my UL video. But I don't intend to cast under 1 gram as it's not my style of fishing. But I will entertain you after I upgrade my bearings and throw a trout magnet ;)

There is no order as every reel does something different. You will have to explore and find what fits your fishing. Likely you will need several. So just get one and figure what else is missing for ya. It's really hard to recommend something without knowing what you need. But u can't go wrong with say the Aldebaran BFS or Alphas air tw

My 2 cents 🤙🏽 I’ve owned the Daiwa alphas air it’s an amazing reel sold it because I bought the Daiwa Gekkabijin imo a better reel it’s smoother & is easier to cast I can cast a 4g lure on the brake setting 1-2 I recently bought the Shimano bfs 22 have both paired on Dobyns 700 & 740 haven’t used it enough for input but, it is super smooth & getting the reel dailed in, it can also cast super far Tight lines fellas 🤙🏽

It's doing pretty amazing for short casting. But it goes not bad for far distances too. Just need some mods and tuning and we should see better distances. Gonna fiddle more before I can give you a better answer

@@jeffbranson835 although I didn't like the Aldebaran BFS 22, I just gotten the Calcutta Conquest BFS 23, which should be the same and I enjoy it a lot. I think if your budget is 300, you can get a cheaper reel like the Slx or curado bfs and it will give you room to buy an aftermarket spool. This way, you can change around things if you decide to go lighter. But the stock curado/slx is pretty good for what you wanna do.

Yep, but I can take more magnets out. But I think imma just stop as I got more gears to play with. Plenty of folks are playing around and modding the reel. Some even take one entire shoe off!

Hold up... Distance is subjective to every Angler. To me it's not the end of the world as I fish on the kayak. And for folks who fish close quarters, distance won't be that bad either. To me this reel is in acceptable range, but need a bit of power to launch it
