I can’t ever tell you sure what to do with your attributes bc it will depend on your gear, but you will need over 120 int by the end, so grab a healthy amount of that

Also when you infect enemies with contagion, when they die, contagion stays on the corps. So when those little scorpion minions appear, they are all infected automatically by contagion, then they continue to spread as they attack. Such a great loop!

Not sure if this is a bug or not, but when you get the passive skill, "Lord of Horror" (Minions have 12% reduced reservation) you need to click off all of your minions and then click them back. The game doesn't factor in the reduced reservation on active minions and that should get you at least 1 if not 2 additional minions.

Opposite for me as a warrior. I cant see what the enemies are doing due to the fire walls. The skeletons look like enemies. You can't turn off the allies VFX.

Firewall+skulls just clutter up screen and make it hard to see enemy dmg zones.. also after testing i realised it adds little to dmg overall. I use enfeeble now which means i'm taking less dmg and so are minions...with the added bonus i can see ground !!!

I was working with an extremely similar build that I put together that I was trying to figure out why it wasn't working. Then realizing swap the wand for the shield.. oh my god. Plus this build with a controller is perfect. I'm using unearth while I work on gems for extra minions and with the shield, it points to the closest enemy which is usually in front of a bunch of dead monsters, so now when I use unearth, it doesn't go to a random wall with nothing, I unearth the monsters directly behind my target which usually spawns max minions.. It's fantastic. Thanks Hooded man.

Thanks for the info and build. I am level 20 now and have made it to the rolling caravan in act 2. I'm liking the game and the minion witch so far. Just going to keep grinding on the campaign and leveling. I'm thinking about maybe merc which was my first choice pre-launch, but back to my favorite type in the minion realm at launch. Seen your content on ranger and that is my 2nd favorite type of toon. Enjoying the game so far. My first ARPG was D4 and I still enjoy it (1200hrs playtime), but this is also fun and challenging in a different way. Enjoy your videos and streams. Keep it up!

Minion survival becomes a big issue when you get to maps and you WILL need to invest into survival. The problem is the revive timer resets if a minion dies. So if you fight something that can kill your minions (which is a lot if you dont make them tanky) you will lose one, your damage goes down and the enemies have less targets, which means you lose the next one before the revive and the timer resets, and it cascades until you are alone for the full revive timer and at that point you're probably dead. For personal survival ES stacking and grim feast is well known to be busted and you can take it easily with this build because there honestly arent that many minion nodes we need to worry about and you can pump your ES up a ton. Secondly consider taking the right side of that block tree and find yourself a shield with a high increased block roll. You can pretty easily be hitting over 60% block with just a few points. My witch is at 68% right now and combining that with grim feast means you dont die unless all your minions do first in maps

While you raise valid points, this is explicitly a levelling build. I agree with you though and think this build does more harm then good - it gives the player (especially a new one) a false sense of security that will perish in the end game. Also this build and playstyle have serious visibility problems that I think are worth mentioning.

I know it's probably suboptimal, but I went Bloodmage in hopes the Leech stuff worked and to be a Cold caster but never made it to the build before the nerfs. I think Minion Witch as Bloodmage going down the right side of the tree is pretty good. Makes you really tanky, and the minions do all the work so you aren't sacrificing life to do any damage. I'd recommend people try it out before rerolling their Witch that may feel bricked.

sadly GGG will raise the spirit cost of the Arsonits soon. This is what is written in the forum "Skeletal Arsonists Spirit costs now match the other two Skeleton Mages, this should result in a slight decrease in the number of Arsonists at a higher level." 😒

I think a missed opportunity in your excellent guide (for beginning players) is to explain that Raging Spirits is NOT a witch spell. In fact, if you are following "suggested" spells, you will/can miss the ability from the boss that gives you your first SPIRIT gem, and accidently spend it on a witch aura, instead of Raging Spirits. This was my fail, when I just did my own minion build.

This is exactly what I tried to do on EA launch. I don't recommend it at all. Bloodmage is one of the worst, if not the worst, ascendancy and chaos dot for damage just doesn't feel smooth. You really need to delete the enemies instantly like the fire minion build does or else you start to see the glaring weaknesses of the minion AI compared to enemy AI. The enemies almost completely ignore your minions. The mobs go straight for you and you're left running around waiting for the disease to spread. Someone else referred to the build as a "backpedal simulator".

I just had fire wall spawn raging spirits and skeletal archers (which I’m gonna switch out for arsonists now!) "Fill the area flame easily" on the discussion on spell cascade. Just as an FYI, you cant have more then three flame walls up. You'll notice every time you cast with cascade, the old walls disappear. The benefit with cascade would be that it it automatically spread out and not overlapping. So you have better field coverage. Though as you notice, its random on which axis it will use.

One thing to note is that the Raging Spirits do actually contribute to your overall defenses. While they cannot take aggro, they do have hitboxes, and will eat projectiles. The rest of your minions reduce the number of enemies targeting you, while your RS minions reduce the number of non-penetrating projectiles you and your other minions have to worry about.

love minion builds. I use Malice sceptre and go crit with skeleton warriors. I do not really use SRS anymore. The fire can cause a problem by you not seeing what is on the ground.

I was skeptical about using a malice scepter, but I got one with 18% spirit, 53% ally damage, 19% ally crit chance, and 14% ally crit damage. All max rolls. It’s been working out so far lol

Liked Fire Necro in Last Epoch, and also love this Infernalist Ascendancy. Something between this mad flying fiery skulls, infernal rings of doom and loyal hellhound just fit together thematically. And u can switch to freaking demon caster if u get bored of minions. And the splashart cool af :D

I really wanted a "plague witch" to work with no minions. Spreading chaos damage and watching the mobs melt, but there seems to be something off with the scaling. It works really good at the start but from the end of act 2 it starts to regress and the damage just doesn't cut it anymore. I would really like to see your take on a build like that.

Balancing the life nodes on minions with detonate is something to consider, you have to summon the rs to check their life if it’s above the threshold they won’t detonate on skill activation. My first ARPG and I’m enjoying it so far…the on death effects are annoying…

Have you tried Meat Shield on Hellhound? He ignites everything based on his HP. And ignite is applied before damage mods like the -35% dmg (shouldn’t apply) so the 50% HP is a massive ignite buff

you can get cold damage on scepter and it enables your srs and arsons to freeze enemies.. just for an extra line of defense.. btw.. for late game i'm gunna try to get lightning too , ontop of storm mage maybe so everything will have shock on it :)

What is not super clear to me in what order I should upgrade my skill and support gems?! Raxx said Skeletal A’s level up with spirit, which is true but the gem itself could be also leveled up by applying high level uncut gems. Instead of taking the highway to the left of Raw Destruction, you can take the next left after Power of the Dead. It frees up 3 skill points.

The hellhound is great for defense but I rarely see anyone talk about using Last Gasp. Meat-shield + Last Gasp = almost infinite (not exactly but at least close) to having the hit reduction up all the time.

This is absolutely amazing! Side note- On PS5 and I notice the game screen doesn't fit the TV properly. If you go into PS settings and maximize the screen this does help but parts of the game are still cut off on the edges. Anyone experiencing this or have a fix for it?
