I got both, and the Maui Jim sit high on your face even when you adjust the nose pads, and despite them being 61mm they actually look narrower than the Raybans (probably because they curve)...aesthetically speaking, the RayBans look more flattering and proportional on my face while the Maui Jim look weird, which is a shame, because when it comes to the lenses, all I can say is WOW about the MJ...you actually feel less sun, less glare, less heat, yet more clear vivid view with a nice tint..makes wearing your RayBans afterwards a really unsatisfying experience when it comes to lens clarity... so if you are strictly looking for an aviator, and want the perfect look, nothing beats the RB, but if you want the best lens experience that will blow your mind, its the MJ, and trust me i never even paid attention to lenses until i tried the MJ, only then you realize what's possible and what you've been missing... my next purchase will be MJ, but need to find a style that fits, especially that i like minimalist frames and lenses that are low key, professional, etc, while most MJ styles lean toward casual and sport

I seem to have rather long eye lashes. They sometimes brush against the lens which is annoying. Thanks to this video, its explains why this happens. The frame is more curved, bringing it closer to your face. Suggest you try on both pair before you purchase.

I live in canada and last month i was on a hunt for the best driving sunglasses i could find because of a new trucking job that was from morning t'ill after sun down... i tried like 3 pairs of maui jim's and i returned them all, they are way over priced here, $400 for a pair. The biggest prob i had with them was the back glare coming in... I bought a few oakley's for driving and i also bought a pair a ray-aviators for looks/style only. I guess it's just personal preference! Cheers!!

Ray Ban is far from “overrated” 🙄 This guy has some kind of a deal with Maui Jim, because when they were acquired, he said that he didn’t know how things were going to work out between them and himself. Look at 99 percent of articles and they rank Ray Ban as the sunglasses to have. When yuh are on top, everyone wants to tear you down. 😂 I’m okay with criticism, but your making a blanket statement and it sounds like you haven’t even owned a pair of Ray Bans. Nice comparison. I have a pair of Maui Jim Wiki Wiki silver frames with neutral grey lenses. I am thinking about getting the Mavericks gold frames with HCL Bronze lenses to change it up a bit. And for the classic aviator look.

Maui Jim, has succeeded in staying independent and are not owned by Luxottica. Luxottica owns Oakley, Pearle Vision, Gucci, etc. and has a monopoly on sunglasses, they even own Sunglass Hut. MAUI JIM STAYS TRUE TO THE OUTDOOR BRANDING AS WELL.

I think Ray Ban is the most over hyped brand for sure. I just ordered my first pair of Maui Jims, so I cant comment on them. But both Oakley and Smith have significantly better lens/optics quality than Ray Ban. If I'm not mistaken, I believe Ray Ban, Oakley, and Maui Jim are all luxottica companies, so I don't that that means that any of them are inherently bad.

Nothing informative or helpful here. Very generic review. The MJ lenses are better but doesn’t state WHY, so I’ll tell you: lightweight, super thin construction. Color & clarity is crystal & way more detailed than any other lens. More importantly, you don’t squint while wearing these as they do a superb job of blocking the most harmful of rays, both from the top & bottom of the lens. RB lens are much less inferior and don’t measure up to MJs at all. First & last time watching this guy. His manner of speech is both annoying and intentional, quite robotic.
