I found it quite interesting that he didn't drive...
@TheStockwell4 жыл бұрын
I met him at a book signing in San Francisco. I mentioned that I didn't know how to drive, either. He was fascinated and told me how, when he was young, automobiles were dangerous and didn't have the safety features they now do. He spoke of classmates who died at an early age in automobile accidents. All these years later, he still missed them. He had me promise to never learn how to drive - and had me shake his hand on it. Then, he signed my books. That was in 1997 - over two decades ago and yes, I kept that promise. Now, every time I'm asked how a grown man never learned to drive, I have Ray Bradbury to explain way.

It really is. Even though I love cars. Imo it's only a big issue because of our overpopulation problem. More and more people are buying cars left and right, contributing to more pollution in the air and forests or ecosystems destroyed to build more roads and factories. As more people are being born than die.

Tell us more about the art at the end of the documentary? I see Picasso, Kandinsky, Chagall, and others. I'm interested in the source of the young woman holding the string of birds. I tried to search for it, but to no avail. You could do a whole introduction to great art through that sequence. Or not.

Saw this in 9th grade. Interesting I now recognize its set to Twilight Zone episode score, "Number 12 looks just like me" as I recall. One thing he said I found interesting, "When we can't change another word, its ready." If I followed that doctrine, I'd NEVER be done. Lol

The title of this channel, “Manufacturing Intellect” just seems to copy “ Manufacturing Consent” - or rather tries to subvert it. I brought great thinkers to my students for years, but I would never ever claim that intellect should be “manufactured.” Do you great thinkers come off an assembly line, are “manufactured”? Maybe you mean well, but your channel title is irksome. Or not well thought out. And it matters.
@alexthompson95163 жыл бұрын
You're severely overthinking this, as is the custom of pedagogues. It's simply a pun.
