Ray & Carla, Isle of Man, The home of the last man hung in the Island

In 1872 John Kewish got into an argument with his father and tragically his father was killed, and for his crime he was executed. This little film is about the place he lived, how they survived, walking the well trodden paths the families would have used daily, and a walk to the Cluggitt falls one of the longest drops in the Island so steep even sheep struggle for a foothold. It was a sobering video with feelings of sadness and thoughts outside of our usual walks, and questions over whether he was the perpetrator, or was he protecting a third party, lots of prose has been written by much better educated folks than us who have pondered the issue too. Carla reads the confession from John Kewish a few days before the gruesome execution, and finally an old picture depicting the accused.

I loved working near those Tholtans. I remember when I started at Ballamanaugh there was still most of a roof on the upper house. If I remember right where were remains of a building in the field that is between the stream and the bottom of plantation.
