This is by far my favorite. I love how slow they go. That's how it should be. ;)

Ray Charles and Betty “Bebop” Carter, who met in early 1960, began touring together in 1960 and cut an album in 1961 when Carter was an up-and-coming vocalist. Gladys Hampton, the wife of legendary Jazz vibraphonist & bandleader Lionel Hampton, nicknamed Carter “Betty Bebop” for her remarkable abilities to literally sing Bebop and almost all forms of Jazz. This wonderful song is taken from one of the most creative and seamless record albums of the early 1960s, and a song to fit our current weather as of January 3, 2014!

Ray Charles was a great all around performer, there's no doubt. But Betty Carter was among the 4 or 5 greatest jazz vocalists of the last 100 years. Anybody offended by this song -- and this version, in particular -- has his or her head wedged.

One wintry night in Oklahoma City (1961) when it was really cold outside, I was faced with the reality of having to go outside. I was in college nearby and had come up to Oklahoma City with a friend to check out after hours Jazz nightclub. I met this beautiful young lady, and the early morning ending with my going home with her. Needless to say, we had a great time, but my friend and I had to get back to school for 8:00 o’clock class. My friend picked me up, and first thing I heard on car radio was Ray Charles singing “Baby, it’s cold outside “. A morning and song I will never forget 🥴. Wow, what a Ray Charles signature song! ❤

I think the best version is up to each one, each of us has a viewpoint. However, Ray Charles, in this music, was capable, like in so many others, to pass the feeling of being there, in a warm house with your love, while a wizzard clashes outside. The feeling of old school music.

It's all that you say Jana4390, except for the weather. No snow here in Darwin, NT, Australia. Wet season now, rains a lot, usually about 29 or 30 celsius. Come May and its dry season, no rain for 6 months, temp 32 or 33 every day. Ahh, but Ray Charles, too good. Shame he's gone now.
