I love the subtlety of Ahmet telling Ray (Jamie) that the song is in the key of G, he plays a slow ballad, then Ahmet say “no a kind of Pete Johnson thing” and Ray instantly plays a whole different tune lol true musicians get how awesome that is 😂

In the whole movie, Jamie Foxx REALLY separated who he was and put his body, mind, and soul into The Man That Is Ray Charles. I mean you’ve seen actors portray real people, but, every swing in tone, every mannerism, consonance, and intonation is synchronized very well to Ray Charles. May he Rest in Peace

Through this entire movie I never thought I was watching Jamie Foxx. He really made you believe he was Ray Charles. I watched the video where Jamie Foxx trained right next to Ray Charles and what kind of great compliment to your career than to have one of the greatest musicians of all time literally walking you through how he plays, what he thinks and he knows if you're about to make a mistake just by sitting next to you and listening. And all the stuff that Jamie Foxx went through to play this character I mean, the director who was Ray Charles son, said that there were times during the filming that you would look at Jamie Foxx and one minute he would look like Ray and the next minute he looked like Jamie Foxx and when you get that lost in your persona that we can't tell who you are, thats acting on a whole new level.

I've seen this scene a few times now and still believe that even though the song lyrics were written by the producer Ahmet Ertegun and the style of playing was influenced by Pete Johnson, it still allowed Ray to see that there was a different way of writing and performing that he didn't consider previously. Somewhat similar to what Elton John found when the first record company he tried to get a contract with paired him with Bernie Taupin to write lyrics. I don't think Elton John would be as big as he is today without Bernie and I don't think Ray would have been as successful as he was without this moment.

I've watched this movie at least 6 times. I'll watch dozens of more times and never get bored. I loved Ray Charles, which is a little unusual for my age group, but I play guitar and I think that's makes a person more open minded and attracted to talent. Another very strong point is Jamie Foxx. After just a few minutes into the movie, I thought it was really Ray. Jaime actually played piano in a bunch of parts. He was genius.

And as soon as he hears a voice he didn't know was there, he asks immediately. dude, start with the black keys, its the Easy way. hole Eb minor pentatonic scale right there. try the base (left hand) with the octave walking bass and then add the right hand chords as the base line gets easier to do. cheers!
