I'm surprised that if there was a to make him magically see again for the rest of his life he would turn it down. If I was blind I would be so sad about not being able to see all the great things and probably be worried all the time about getting hurt due to not being able to see.

I’m not blind but I am disabled, so I think I might be able to help you understand our position. When you live with a disability for so long, it becomes a thing of pride and identity for you. It’s like…your whoel life you knwo? We life with the disability for so long that loosing it would make some even greive it’s loss.
