I had the honor and privilege of seeing Ray Charles live in concert 7 times in my lifetime. Three of those times, I saw the original Raelettes with the incredible Margie Hendrix. Awesome memories...

WAY back in like 1972, I spent nearly a week's pay to buy tickets for two seats in the 4th row, to see Ray Charles performing live with B. B. King - the show of a lifetime. Asked my then-girlfriend to go with me, and she declined. Never asked her out again. BUT, the show was magnificent, even though I took someone else. And I totally melted when Ray and the Raylettes performed this number.

The drums here are awesome! Much better than what was played only a year previously for the same song by Ray's band. This is the riff that Ringo Starr emulated for The Beatles' "I Feel Fine", and later was adopted for so many songs by The Allman Brothers.

This was a very pivotal song in in Music because it was next to Shout by The Islay Brothers one of the very first songs to cross from the R & B Chart to the Pop Chart. He influenced so many folks. Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, The Ronettes are some of the folks influenced by him. In the 1960's in Australia a Singer jammed Johnny O'Keefe brought the house down with this version. He hosted a Talent Show called sing Sing Sing where a young 16 Year Old won who became a legend in her own right. Her name Olivia Newton-John who was also influenced by him. He even helped Smokey Robinson with a musical arrangement when he was his supporting act at The Apollo Theater in 1959 but he bombed. They were so bad tat the Manager screamed for his Money back.

@joe6096

If you go to a concert where you know the artist you're going to see makes music that gets people out of their seat and moving, you'd best stay home if you're a sitter! When I saw the Who in 2000 (their last tour with John Entwistle), I basically stood for the entire show and the lady next to me sat. I mean, how the hell do you SIT through Won't Get Fooled Again or Baba O'Reily??!! Same thing for What'd I Say!!!

not scary not sure who would want to play for a bunch of white privelidge white folkes who are just gunna walk out the door and continue there awkard journey of whimsical satire against a darker shade of human ... ??? telling them where they cant piss or where they cant eat at the same place as them because you just happen to be a darker and ow well might not need sun tan lotion putting the verbage of fear on a people just living a normal life and making the people who really dont know why they are so scared to allow other humans to just live there lives just seems too stupid and easy, but thats the way yall always wanted it easy and stupid! white people waisted alot of time just coming up with reasons to hate other people mostly because of jealousy - being afraid of the truth - and ow FEAR !!!! YALL FEAR BEING INFERIOR ! these people on stage didnt fear YOU, They just didnt want to perform for a bunch of priviledge lucky hypocrits ... ever thought about that ... smh
