I’m 38. I remember Drake being on my iPod in college in 07/08. I’ve not cared to listen to Drake in YEARS. Why? Because I am in my late 30’s and adulting. I LOVED Drake’s music for years. He didn’t evolve as an artist. He got lost in his own hype. Numbers. DSP facts/figures that mean nothing on a real level. That’s all Kendrick did was say what many of us avid music lovers have been saying/thinking. I’ve been through shit. Life has changed me and what’s important to me differs so much from what it was 15 years ago. As it should! That’s the mark Drake and MANY of his fans continue to miss. Grow up, bro! Or you’ll get left behind.

Drake showed his hand when he made fun of a conscious rapper “trying to free the slaves.” Drake isn’t a martyr so let’s drop the “rage against the machine,” narrative. Ye did it and no one was applauding him for it because the industry said, “y’all heard what he said about George Floyd, right?” Industry said, “made ya look.” But what’s the number rule in The Godfather? “You never go against the family.” Lucien is Michael and Drake is Fredo. Peakaboo!

Also I'll assume yall age group is early to mid 30's which means you're no longer moving the needle in hip hop as much. Dot has captured a real moment in time with the youth and his catalog will age well with all that listen which is real artistry. I don't like the "Stan" term at all but when all you have is excuses for your favorite and selective memory on deeds and behaviors especially as a man, it looks and feels off. So when bro said nobody's defending dude and still expecting it to get back to how he wants it pre Dot good luck.

@ about your “if drake drops an album and I sells?” theory I offer 2 points 1. He dropped at least 15 songs/features since the battle. Nothing sticked. He’s ice cold. 2. Nobody “sells” anything. Commercial performance is measured by performance on streaming which is manipulated by the record company and the DSP algorithms he thinks he’s about to “expose”. They have the power to suppress him the same way they made him what he is. He got confused and thought the success was about him and it was about the fact that they chose him.

Ray made excellent points about Drake and his huge ego and major character flaws that won’t allow to him see what’s right in front of him. I’m going to keep it 💯 because a lot of pod talkers talk around it sometimes, but Black women elevated Drake and kept him relevant and popular for years. Mark down 2022 as the year nothing was the same for Drake again. By losing the support of the Black women fanbase everything started unraveling. Black men and Black women are the epicenter of hip hop culture and everyday popular culture. He stupidly stomped over 50% of the culture and expected to survive, not in this lifetime.

They are VERY different artists to me Kendrick’s catalog is better imo but his content connects with me more as an intellectual and someone who really loves music across genres . To be honest, Kendrick having conscious messages is a bit of an anomaly for someone with his success. He offers much needed balance to the industry. RARE TALENT and the most artistic of his class. I listen to him more in car/home But Drake’s is more commercially palatable broadly and in his later years is more trying to be the stereotypical rapper. I listen to him more at a club or party. Half Drake’s catalogue and hits aren’t rap also so he has a bigger reach. There are literally fans of Drake that aren’t even fans of hip hop they just think Drakes “cool” lol. When the host said "I got my own interests in this lawsuit," thats the problem. People who don't like the record labels are shoe horsing their own ideas and opinions in the situation. This petition as it stands, has nothing to do with your issues. If you read the petition, the things listed aren't even illegal and are mischaracterizations. He has poorly sourced citations in it like the DJ Akademiks interview.. The second petition for defamation will false on its face. 1) Drake is a public figure. 2) The Supreme Court gives additional freedom of expression to art because it can be satirical or a parody. 3) Drake was the one who introduced knowledge of alleged underaged relationships in Taylor Made and coaxed Kendrick to talk about it. Kendrick angled all knowledge of the issue as second hand information or hearsay, which is not considered defamatory by the courts. Drake later claimed he fed Kendrick all of the information through a fake mole to purposefully mislead him.. It would not help artists if Drake won (which he won't). It would hurt them because it would lead to labels censoring artists, which would be a violation of their 1st amendment rights and lead to more lawsuits.. People like this host, Akademiks and these other short sighted media figures don't even realize they're rooting for anti - free speech under the guise of a business play. Also UMG is not responsible for 2 signed artists engaging in an exchange of unfounded claims about one another. They adjusted course once they saw where the positive attention was going. Drake knew he had a contract negotiation approaching and decided to gamble on his public perception because he knew his stock would be higher if he came to the table after defeating Kendrick... except he didn't and he took the L in terms of the battle and his ability to leverage. Thats on him, not UMG.. He could've waited on the beef and finalized his contract before hand but he was stupid.

So glad Ray was there for the Drake conversation. Any other guest and this would have turned into a Drake glaze session. Only thing I disagree with is about the two artist catalogues. Subjectively I believe Kendrick’s catalogue is far better than Drake’s for my taste.

Drake fans have the same thinking and talking points it's insane.... But i think Drake can still make big numbers if he dropped an album but it needs to be great.....
