I will always laugh at the notion of Her Majesty sitting in her box, listening to a passionate ode to a crossdresser... Thank you SO MUCH for this, Mr. Davies

Just like at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Ray stole the show. There is no rock performer who does a better job incorporating the crowd into his performances. Leaving a Kinks or Ray concert, you feel like you were part of the show. He's an amazing artist.
@rk41gator Жыл бұрын
True. But I would put Phil Collins in that 'best job of incorporating the crowd', crowd.

I have thought that Ray Davies is brilliant since I was a kid (I'm really old now), and I could never figure out why The Kinks aren't as revered as all of the other British Invasion bands. Underrated indeed!! This is one of the greatest signature riffs of all time.

@gary weiss: i think that is either "dark room" or "back room". i've seen it written both ways. the davies brothers were welsh, weren't they? bit of an accent there? terrific song from an early garage band, and said to the the forerunner of metal rock.
@youjoker964710 жыл бұрын
Welsh????!They were born in Muswell Hill ,London. Just 'cause your surname is Welsh doesn't mean you're from Wales. It's also 'dark brown voice'. His accent? 'Estuary English'. Just think of what he's singing about on 'Waterloo Sunset'? It's about the river Thames (partly) that's where the Davies Bros, grew up.
