The worst thing a musician can do is repeat himself, by finding a formula and sticking with it. Ray has wisely decided to exercise his right to express himself, doing so in a very retro-creative psychedelic style that I find soothing and beautiful. Restraint ain't easy for a band, but Ray makes it feel natural. AWESOME!

I loved this song the very first time I heard it. All the live performances of this song on KZbin have awful audio. I remember there was only one cover of Lavender on piano by two women, but that appears to be gone. I love the prepared guitar (buzzy frets). I'm surprised no one has covered this song. I cannot find chords for it.

This song reminds me of the Paisley Underground groups. Paisley Underground is an early genre of alternative rock, based primarily in Los Angeles, California, which was at its most popular in the mid-1980s.
