The league was much different when he played to what is now too. Protecting the players from themselves for long-term health is important but the violence was much more encouraged back then.

I would have to say that Ray Lewis had the "quickest eyes" I've even seen for a LB. His ability to track the ball, whether it was being carried by a RB, thrown by a QB or a tipped pass, was truly amazing. Now add that extraordinary talent of tracking the ball with really soft hands to make those catches. It was a great time watching him play with the Ravens!

It's hard to compare players that played 20 years apart but he is probably a step ahead of guys like Lambert, Butkus or Singletary but those guys were all incredibly dominant players in there day. We have HD highlights of evert play and these guys spend their their lives preparing for it now. I wouldn't be surprised to learn Butkus or Lambert worked side jobs in the off-season off-season pay the bills

Ray Lewis was such a phenomenal talent. His size and speed were unreal, he wasn’t just a physical powerhouse. He was incredibly smart and great at reading what an offense was doing.
