Hi there James, The Doors were, like the Beatles, a group of induvidual INCREDIBLY gifted and unique people, who came together and connected. Breaking on through the closed doors of the times. And even now, the Doors is so ahead of the times. Especially, the first album. There's something mythical and engrained in the essence of what music should be. The Doors are an example of intelligence, talent and the ability to evolve. We, in 2024, have lost that as a society in some ways. It curious. We, as people, preache equality and inclusion but, in truth? We've come full circle to the 1960's? In the sense, of being closed minded and resistant to ideas or people who are truly themselves. Or at least different. And, the truth is, those who are remembered. Those whose legacies are remembered. Are NOT those who fall in line. They are the ones who are damaged and have demons. Who have a HUNGER, to shout at the moon, and a refuse to be silent. And, Jim Morrison was NEVER one to be silent. But, when he DID speak, he had something meaningful to say. Now, we're surrounded by fakes and people who tell us how to think. And, that's WHY the Doors are even more revelant than ever before? Peave and love, David

PS Apologises for the drawn out reply. I just love to write and explore what I think. We all have a voice. And being silent, saying what others WANT us to say or think: is a crime against ourselves? David

@@davidaston5773 I think Jim spoke his truth. He refused to be led around and to conform. His true cause of death remains a mystery. Those who speak their truths are often silenced by the powers that be.

Doors were and will be for ever my beloved foreign band. I played most of their songs on guitar although/as a Greek/ many times I didnt understand the exact meaning of words and lyrics/but I still remember many songs/lyrics now that I am 60. The combination of screams/ poetry/philosophy and musique was mesmerizing irresistible and unique to me/a real sense of freedom from my prison/ prison of perception. I wish I had met these guys breathing this air of freedom in that era.

A lot of details on how the Doors were formed comes out in this interview that always gets glossed over in more PR sounding interviews. I dont think most people are aware how bad a singer Jim was when he started out, you can hear the original album they made on youtube which the record company wouldnt release. They grew organically as a band, its amazing they saw the potential in Jim and that potential fully flowered into something much more powerful than any other band had made at that time. Im quite sure Jim is still alive, I wish he would finally come out of hiding and give the universe a last goodbye.
