I have never heard of "crowing" before -- and I used to hang out in that part of MI a lot in my 20s. My turn to say "what. the. fuck." --- I'm pretty sure The Streak was written back in the late 60s or early 70s when, as I have been told, there was a craze of streaking
@Popson2wheels2 жыл бұрын
Streaking was very common back in the mid 70's. It was a fad at the time. Ray did a few serious songs, but most were along these lines. Gitarzan(1969) and Ahab the Arab(1962) were some of his earlier songs that were funny.

At my college we had a shotgun rally where we would chug a beer then run across the railroad tracks behind a building on campus shotgun another beer behind the building then run back. Whoever was faster wins. It was maybe half a mile at most maybe closer to a quarter mile but you ran the chance of a train coming while you was on the far side and get stuck.

This should not make you uncomfortable it's just funny. Or maybe you just had to have been in college in the '70s. This song came out in 1974 , the year that they were streaking all over college campuses. The university that I attended, Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville Tennessee had coverage in the national newspapers and made the streaking article in Life magazine because we didn't just have individual streakers running across a football field We had a parade of streakers. Pre-internet but word of it spread everywhere. The main street through campus was lined with people just at the right time to see this parade it was fabulous. At least a dozen varsity football tam members rode in the back of pickup trucks holding their helmets over their private parts. We had streakers on motorcycle, streakers floats, clowns it was literally a streaking parade. It was awesome. Campus security got copies of photographs from the campus yearbook staff and penalize all those people they could identify. I don't think they didn't kick him out of school but they were charged with misdemeanors. The '70s was the greatest time ever and growing up in that time period there's not much that makes me uncomfortable anymore LOL
