Kind of amazing to think that RWH, Guy Clark, Townes Van Zant, Joe Ely, REK, Steve Earle, Billy Joe Shaver, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Lyle Lovett, Butch Hankcock...and all those ill think of as soon as I post this... all came out of the same state within just a few years of each other!!! I love both Hayes and Ray Wylie's versions of this song. I think RWH has a more consistent vocal performance live. It's amazing how they can play basically the same song and have it feel so different. The lyrical differences are great too!

@@auntymoi It sounds that way on their records, but I've seen both Hayes and RWH live several times. Hayes has very inconsistent live vocal performances. RWH always sounds the same to me.
