Couple of summers ago I'm sitting on my kayak anchored under a railroad bridge. I've knocked back a few beers and I'm feeling pretty good. I'm sitting there fishing, listening to music and snake farm comes on, this is the first time I've ever heard it. Ray sings, "She works down at the snake farm", And I immediately think to myself, perhaps even out loud , " That just sounds nasty". And then Ray sings the next two lines of the song..... I literally spit my beer and laughed so hard I was in tears. Not sure if you will ever read this, Ray, but I love you man! 👊🏼

Observe your surroundings, hit an E chord without the 3rd, lay it all on the groove and good things will happen. Words to live by. : )

Hey Ray I love this song! I lived in Austin for a year back in 2001. I was on my bike riding by Shady Grove outside venue. I saw you doing a soundcheck outside so I came through the gate. Someone had built you a guitar and you were trying it out. We started talking just like we've known each other a long time. You said hey what are you doing tonight...I said nothing you said wanna work for me at the door? I said yes and did that & got to eat with you and another band mate. I'll never forget it thank you!!

Mr. Hubbard, we had the good fortune of booking you at the Worthington Windsurfing & UnVarnished Music Fest a few years back. We gave you a late night tour of the Buffalo Billfold Company and this past Friday we received an additional 75 feet of rattlesnake skins.....of which your wallet is made! Keep On Continuing! We Groove on your Music of UnCommon Merit! billkeitel

Thanks rwh!! Great stuff. Looking forward to more. Lyrics/phrases and topics come to me easily, it's the music/melody i am trying to get better at. Would like to know how that comes to you or if there's something a guy can do to move it along? Also loved your book, besides entertaining and enlightening it had some great instruction.

Ray Wylie Hubbard is a Texas treasure. A national treasure, even if most of the nation doesn't know it. It's a shame he isn't a household name. He's John Prine level.

Here’s a song for you to sing about your hair. 😂 Got off work and I got drunk, I got drunker than a skunk, Walking down the street cuz I couldn’t go home, Saw my reflection talkin’ on my phone, A homeless dude offered me his comb. My hair’s a mess. My hair’s a mess. My hair looks like a dirty bird nest. My hair’s a mess. Oh yes, Oh yes. My hair’s is ragged like a dirty bird nest. Second verse, same as the first…. Ohhhhhhhh….. I’m Henry the 8th I am. Henry the 8th I am, I am. 😂😂😂😂😂
