Welcome to The Warning. This video is from a couple years ago. Today, Dany is 23, Pau 21, and Ale 18. Since you mentioned Halestorm, when Lzzy first came across them, she said that Halestrom had to take The Warning on tour. That happened last summer. Lzzy even gifted to Dany a new custom Gibson Explorer mid The Warning set. Dany thought she just got to borrow the guitar. Afterwards backstage, Lzzy told Dany that it was hers. You want more, so go back to the beginning and try their cover of Enter Sandman at ages 14,12,and 9. Choke is one of 6 songs released from the Teatro Metropolitan CDMX 2022 concert. The other 5 are Disciple, Money, Animosity, Martirio, and the Metallica Blacklist album version of Enter Sandman. And the video for their new song called More ,was recently released.

I'm a fan for 2 years now. Beside being sensational studio artists they're even better live. At May 31 in Berlin, Germany i finally had the chance to see them live. And not only live, it was a headliner-concert. Since them i'm flashed even more. They are incredibly talented, mind-connected while on stage and you can read their emotions from their faces. The crowd was mixed in all ages, genders and nations. I never met people from so many different countries at a concert before. They're really connecting people. And all this while being incredibly young. They also doing composing and songwriting by themselves and released the third full album last year after holding it back a while because they weren't able to start a promo tour because of covid restrictions.

The lyrics are her telling people to let her drown in her own emotions to get through them, sometimes, rather than trying to help her. Sometimes we all just need to be left alone to cry through it, or whatever. That's what this is about, is really simplistic terms. The Warning's lyrics are almost always multilayered and deep, and they put a LOT of work into their lyrics (and songwriting).

Been a fan of these girls for a couple of year or so now. Had seen the original Enter Sandman they posted nearly a decade ago, but then kinda lost track as I never knew they became an actual band. Then I re-discovered them when they released the song Disciple, and been hooked on them ever since. Thankfully they have finally managed to get over to Europe as they have traditionally been a North American touring band, and while I was never going to pay to see them support Muse, I was lucky that they announced a headline date in London at short notice, so am going to go see them at the end of June. Have not been to a gig in 5 years due to the whole covid mallarky and then falling ill with cancer, so this will be my first gig since Halestorm in late 2018, and am so looking forward to it.

It was a little over a year ago that I first heard a reaction to this very music video. I immediately went looking for more, I found 'Evolve', I found 'Disciple', I found 'Money', and I was hooked ever since. I consider their album 'Error' to be my favorite album of 2022, in spite of a lot of competition, and I usually go for harder music. Nearly every song I've heard from them is a great choice, and live versions from the Teatro concert last summer are even better than the official music videos. Also looking forward to your Slaughter to Prevail reaction tomorrow, that'll be fun!

There is a difference between the live and studio version, the studio version is only Dany's vocals layered as needed, live Pau and Ale sing the harmonies and some of the parts. Dany sings lead on about 80% of songs with Pau singing lead on 20% (yes singing and drumming at the same time). Ale will sing lead if she needs to (if Dany needs a break) but doesn't like to. The song "Disciple" has Dany and Pau sharing lead, while Ale sings backing, not only is there a music video for it there is also a high quality live version on their YT channel.

These sisters from Mexico are one of those rare groups that are even better live. My recommendation, though, would be to continue down this rabbit hole by going back to the video that really got them noticed in the first place - their cover of Metallica's "Enter Sandman" when Dani was 14, Pau 12 and Ale 9. Welcome to the journey.

Defiant is another great description of Choke & the band. A seasoned musician once noted that most bands would have asked for help when drowning in the bottomless despair portrayed in this song. But The Warning wanted to - Let me dive in Sink in deeper Push my head Choke me 'til I drown Let me drown Welcome to the most intellectual band to emerge in decades. Their deep metaphorical takes on today's society separate them from the crowd - almost peerless. Every song by this band needs to be listened to with its lyrics, innate message & the back story, if any. And over the past 10 years they have recorded close to 50 original songs including 2 EPs & 3 albums. The 2nd LP, a concept album called Queen of the Murder Scene was recorded in 2018 when the girls were 18, 16 & 13, dealt with unrequited love, death, self harm & lunacy. Now for a surprise watch the prologue from that concept album called Dust to Dust kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipask3puo9CCn7c&ab_channel=TheWarning Dive into their decade long rabbit hole. Paulina is one of the (if not THE) most aggressive female drummers I've ever seen. (Even compared with Roxy from Vixen!) There's no solid line between female drummers and male drummers but just in general, male drummers tend to attack the instrument more aggressively. But Paulina gives up NOTHING to the most aggressive male drummers. She's on those drums, lunging at them, mastering them and getting everything out of them there is to be had. And it totally works with this band because in this day and age of dead, lifeless, happy-happy, toddler-class kindergarten music, THESE GIRLS PLAY ROCK!!! And they do it with no holds barred, in your face, unapologetic control over every note and every word. They're AWESOME! Bxrrell is another band on the horizon that stands to place rock back at the head of music. Their lead player is nothing short of astounding, stunning, and has a talent with vocals and guitar that give no back seat to anyone. Check out "Dare To"!

I agree that the recent 2022 CDMX performance has the best live gems from the Warning. The most epic performances from there are Martirio (Spanish), Revenant, and Narcisista. Martirio especially because Paulina is visibly taken aback by the audience roar at the end.
@Amaranthine1000 Жыл бұрын
I laughed when you mentioned the theme being dark. Dark is what they do best, from their very dark concept album Queen of the Murder Scene about; unrequited love, stalking, kidnapping, murder to multiple personalities fighting for control, to their song Copper bullets about domestic violence and murder/suicide. Not to mention their song Blackholes with Pau (the drummer singing lead) about addiction and the harm it has done, that song alone can make grown men cry. These three sisters are immensely talented, wait till you see Pau sing lead while beating the hell out of her drum kit. Check out all the songs released from the Teatro Metropolitan CDMX Live concert, Choke, Disciple, Enter Sandman, Animosity etc, they are spectacular live and sound incredible. While hunting for tracks to listen to also try Dust to Dust live from Lunario CDMX my all time favorite song from them, not that they have any bad songs at all. For their Spanish songs you have to hear Martirio and Narcisista, with the latter being a response to certain critics who complained about them singing in English, so Pau wrote a song telling them exactly what she thought about their trolling. Enjoy your dive into The Warning rabbit hole.

Great reaction and analysis! Choke is arguably "the" showcase for Dany's soaring vocals, although Martirio and Crimson Queen are way up there, too. Pau also does lead vocals, which she shares with Dany on "Disciple" - live at Teatro Metropólitan 8/29/2022 is amazing. Pau's cover of "Creep," recorded at home on the family's slightly out-of-tune piano, is a classic that unfailingly brings tears to my eyes. I"d love to hear Ale sing lead but being the lone shy one of the three she seems, for the moment at least, to prefer sticking to her seamless backing vocals.

There is so much to admire from this band, musically, technically, personally, and more. Their music evolution is recorded almost since birth and they are an example on how to believe in your dream and eat the whole damn world one stage at a time.

You have been warned. I know you've seen live videos since you posted this reaction, and live is absolutely the best way to appreciate them. Keep going with the August 2022 Teatro Metropolitan concert and their two songs from the 2023 VMAs.
