It was the greatest concert I have ever seen. It was their first time headlining Download and you could tell how much it meant to them as they pulled out all the stops. Sadly it was the last gig they played in the UK with their original (or at least original since their debut album) line-up before Paul passed away less than a year later. I am due to see them for the 8th time in December and while I know it will be a fantastic show, it is bittersweet because I know it will not be better than this show...

@NickJ7903Ай бұрын
The effect you hear is Mick's guitar. He has a lot of strange tones that he uses in their earlier music. You can hear more of those effects in songs like Surfacing, Scissors, and Disasterpiece. I used to think that it was not a great thing and that a straight tone would have been better, but with age I have grown to admire his ability to manipulate his instrument into even making all of those tones. Jim does the more straightforward guitar tones while Mick plays a much more distorted and differing tone for the most part. Joey was legendary at that time, and back then, Chris, Clown, and Paul did backing vocals and it created a much more wider sound with those vocals without one voice being more prominent than another. In my personal opinion, 2008-2009 was Slipknot's best years in terms of performance and sound. The flooring in Joey's drum kit would also light up as it spun around and there was the Slipknot pentagram-like logo. A lot of thought went into those performances and still does, but with member changes over the years and the guys getting older and conflicts that have occurred, it's definitely subtracted from what Slipknot once were. I love your reaction like always.

I will never understand why Hope is gone. Area is considered bad! Softer slipknot does not equal bad music. It just means they went in a different direction, but still had a lot of power to it. If all Hope is gone, came out first and then they got heavier moving forwards nobody would be complaining. But if it’s the other way around, people will complain. 🥹

At the beginning of Slipknot i was in my mid 20's, a metalhead, perpetually broke and from Des Moines so ya can see where this is going. Places like The Safari Club in Des moines was a place you can go and for like 5 bucks go see live local bands, sometimes lasting all damn day. So ya got a real mix of bands like Billygoat, Slipknot, even Ska bands, just totally random stuff. So, to see Slipknot in the early days where theyd run out in street clothes and set up for their set, then run back to get into costume was sorta funny now. The first time Cory came out, i turned to my wife at the time and said "wheres the fat guy?" (Anders) So the antics of SK these days has me both dissapointed and nostalgic. I kind of want to hate em for the BS they pull on bandmates, but still, they are homies.
