It’s jaw dropping to experience that type of interaction. A year ago, I was complaining to my wife about someone’s behavior: we were in our home office…all the sudden Siri starts scolding me from my phone. There was a (short) moment in my life when I thought “Hey Siri” was helpful for texts & dictation. After the above experience…I find Siri and Google, e.g., purely dystopian.

As a content creator. I think these are decent for POV shorts, and like you said capturing the moments. Outside of that camera wise nope. Taking pictures. There’s a dang delay after pressing the button. I don’t it at all. Like no delay for recording but delay for picture wtf. As headphones. Hiking yes, working out, driving yes, on break at work or outside reading a book working on the car or motorcycle yes, but city trips no, anywhere crowded no. The audio is decent. I mean it’s not like some Bose or beats but the audio is pretty good. Glasses. You’re 100% right when it comes to the transitions. I’m making my own review video on them and I’m definitely talking about how bad the transitions, transitions!!! It’s plain ol horrible. It’s And honestly after afew hours they just hurt my nose, or maybe just annoying idk. I have rayban eye glasses which I can wear all day but these I can’t. I wear shades all day especially my Oakleys however these. I can’t. I don’t understand it, maybe it’s just me idk. As for the AI. Honestly I think meta AI isn’t the AI I want to deal with. Compared to Siri and Alexa. Even google. I love how it can give me information on what im looking at and etc but to censor me, and what I ask it to do!! I love it, so much passion, so much anger. So I bought these the day we saw each other at NAB, the 4 million dollar version like you have with transitional glass. I'm actually surprised at how good the battery life is, the image quality is very decent and now that we have a 3 minutes limit I can film bts with ease. I would however like a tiny, tiny hud - I know I'm asking for a lot, OR the camera to be smack bang in the middle of the glasses so like you said, you don't have to twist your head at a stupid angle to get the shot you think you're going to get. As for the A.I. crap I just don't use it, I use them for music, photos and video of my family or bts for KZbin. Add waterproof, 4K and a 1:1 freeframe Insta360 type square camera that's in the middle and I'll never take them off.

I have transition glasses and they are a bit of a pain. For the most part, it gets dark enough in the summer but in the winter…snow blindness is an issue here in Canada. Doesn’t even matter if it is sunny or not. No tint can help snow blindness. I work at a school with kindergarteners and when I walk inside, I cannot see the kids very well for the first few minutes until the tint lightens. So, pros and cons for both but the thing that pisses me off is driving. I have to wear sunglasses over my glasses because no transitions take car windows in account…like you mentioned.

Here in the UK they enable the AI on my glasses when the 3 minute videos came, but a month or so later they crippled the AI again. Giving it and taking it away was rubbish! I do like to wear my glasses on my motorbike as it gives me instant moments from within the helmet and voice activated.

I’m 67 and live in sunny northern NV and love my progressive transition Metas. I of course have dedicated driving sunglasses from Costco with their amber transition lens which are great in the car where normal transitions don’t work, but use my Metas like in the store, working on the car projects because easy to record a snapshot with your voice of a wiring loom before disassembly or in a restaurant to record a memory with my wife. Of course framing is a challenge, but the resolution is high enough to corp and make it good enough in my photo stream on my TV screen saver. Taking phone calls or listening to music is great without removing yourself from the world as wearing AirPod Pros do. You can walk up to someone and tap the side frame to pause music and have a conversation rather than looking like a geek removed from the world with white earbuds. Of course on an airplane I’m wearing Sony NC headphones, but I wear these for hours per week shopping or working around the house besides travel. I don’t like them tied to Meta, the company, but the implementation was great otherwise.

your videos are great David, but on this one I think that you are skipping the fact that this Rayban, at the end of the day, are just glasses. Mine are prescription glasses, yours seems to be regular, but the fact is that is just glasses, and they look great on you, on me and on everyone that has them. Yes, you could expect more since they have an AI assistant, take video or photos, and you can listen to music (better for audiobooks) but is just glasses, and for the price are simply great, there are glasses out there without the AI that cost practically the same, especially if are prescription. So, don't get rid of them so often, like everything else, including us, lacks perfection. Blessings!

I found the AI quite concerning. My mother asked it to read a letter in her church bulletin. From the parish preist. It would not read the letter verbatim or word for word… then i noticed the summaries to which it defaulted each time left out any Bible verse or references to the verse. The neglecting to include in the summary was troubling but the flat refusal to read the full complete letter was TERRIFYING. THERE WAS NO WAY FOR A PERSON WHO NEEDED VISUAL ASSISTANCE TO GET ANYTHING EXCEPT AN EDITED VERSION. THE FUTURE LOOKS BLEAK WHEN AI IS BROUGHT ONLINE WITH DECEPTIVE PRACTICES AND DISINFORMATION CAPABILITIES.

Mine wouldn't import. I tried everything they suggested several times, but they still wouldn't work. Then, after giving up and throwing them in the case( turned on), they magically updated and started to work properly a few days later.

@DavidManningvlog on a hardware level, my wife's pair the touch pad no longer works, stopped working after she went for a run with them, when maybe 2 weeks old, so doesn't allow calls to be answered. On my mine calls will work 75% of the time, the rest will of the time it will keep switching the call back to the phone, as if it's dropping the bluetooth connection. Sometimes AI will work great, other times even the simplest requests will say "I can't do that on your glasses". I generally reinstall the app every 2 weeks or so which sometimes fixes issues. Not the bluetooth issue though.

Love mine wouldn’t be without them. Glossy black frames look awesome. Put a pair of varifocal transition lenses in them so I can wear them all day and capture life’s special moments when and where I may be. AI hasn’t reached the uk yet but when it does I’ll enjoy testing it out. Framing isn’t an issue for me as as long as you’re looking in the direction of what you want to capture I’ve never missed my shot yet. Audio is great but I do agree noisy environments do drown the music out easily. Wearing a hat does improve sound quality if that’s an option.

I love my Metas. I am different than you since I have worn glasses since 3rd grade so I knew the advantage of transition lens and going from outside to inside. They work great even though of course I wish they were darker outside, but life is a compromise. The headphones of course don’t replace my AirPod Pros or Sonos Ace, but great while in a store or encountering a friend because you look more open for a conversation so you don’t have white earbuds in your ears. As you stated the camera is great because it allows with you to do impromptu things. Is it not as good as a iPhone or my Go 3 S, no. The great advantages it’s always with you. I used them last winter while skiing in Utah and Colorado and it was so convenient to just command Meta take a photo or a video without having to deal with gloves or worrying about something falling off or attached to my helmet and ski lift safety bar would always hit when someone pulled it down without warning. I wish course they were landscape mode instead of portrait as I build everything to go on my television, which is how I watch most of my content, including your video on Apple TV in a lean back environment with Sonos Aces.

These things are HORRIBLE. Mine worked about 2 months, then could not download images. Some update to either phone or glasses broke the connection. Lost ALL photos and glasses NO LONGER connect. RayBan technical support is clueless. Reading scripts and providing no support. Meta support does not even exist. Reddit has hundreds of horror stories about connection issues and losing photos. Avoid like the plague.
