Ray Coffman Yeah, but barely anyone who doesn’t really know Castlevania all that well knows who Leon is - and an even smaller amount know who Trevor is, at least among my friend group. I figured it’d have to be Richter if any other Belmont other than Simon got in - He kinda pioneered the idea of Belmonts being mega acrobatic, and “Die, monster!” is a well-known quote even to gamers who don’t play Castlevania games. It’s cool to see him in even though he’s not well known! The jumping divekick fits Smash incredibly well!

Richter gets a lot of love but for those who grew up in the Nes/Snes era ,Simon is the OG vampire killer in the Castlevania series. So happy they finally added him and that they went for the 80s heavily muscled look instead of the red head anime style. They are crushing it with the music as well. They even played a rework of the Castlevania 1 final level boss music when facing Dracula. So much nostalgia :)

I love Richter so much. Rondo and Symphony are my two favorite Castlevania games. While I was stoked yet unsurprised about Simon, I did not see Richter coming at all! Easily my biggest, happiest surprise of Ultimate.

I'm hoping because Nintendo gave Castlevania such royal treatment in Smash that Konami is preparing a new Castlevania game for Switch. Makes sense, Fire Emblem gained a bigger fanbase because of Smash and now Castlevania is getting ready for a grand return.

While I had portrait of ruin on the ds, i barely played it as a kid and only remember how the bloody mary game over screen scared me as a kid. Seeing this trailer I decided to try SC4 since i had an snes, and SOTN on my 360. I love it and am now hoping for a new Castlevania game soon

As someone who is vaguely familiar with Castlevania, I knew just from watching the direct that there was a whole bunch of love being given to the series and I really wanted to see a hardcore Castlevania fan's reaction to it. I've been searching youtube and I truly believe your video is probably the best example. Your reaction is so genuine and your commentary is clearly from someone who loves the series. So many reaction videos rely on just reacting really loud and bombastic to signify joy and happiness. While you let out an initial outburst, you're just so overwhelmed with genuine joy that you're just glowing with awe and respect of the love your favorite series is getting. Thanks for sharing!

Man I went through the same reactions. I didn't know about the leaks and went in blind, when the environment looked a little too spooky to be luigi's mansion, I just knew it was Castlevania. Figured it was Simon from the caped figure as well, and I was super hype. But as much as I love Simon, RICHTER is my boi, lost it when he showed up. I've played the ever loving shit out of Dracula X, and out of the 120 hours or so I've played smash, at least 110 have been Richter. We got our wish brother, it feels damn good.

Duuuuuude I reacted like you when I saw the blue jacket, Simon isn't my favorite but I was already happy to get a Castlevania representation for smash but when I saw Richter's jacket I was like "OMFGJSOFHOQDUH". And by the way, your reaction is by far my favorite, I'm happy to found someone who recognize Richter at the same time as me, in contrary of other people who don't recognize the character but still screaming for doing like everyone else in their live reaction.
