Did you not follow the gist of the video he was commenting on? Lawyers issued a cease and desist for the musical due to its inclusion of RG's "trademarked" dances moves. They are also trying to trademark her name. Claiming these things as her intellectual property is her only course of action because trying to sue for defamation won't work unless the show has been performed at least once. RG really just wants all this to quietly fade away and be forgotten, which won't happen if something like this musical is allowed to go ahead.

In the US none of the trademark, patent, copyright doesn't apply to individual moves. Copyright could apply to the whole dance, but would likely be found to be an acceptable use as satire. Then there is an issue with it being a competition. It wasn't put out as a independent piece of art. It could be found that the performance IP is owned by the IOC not raygun. Also unless the venue was producing the event, they like have no liability.

So I know jack and sh*t about Australian copyright law, but in the US, the company behind Fortnight defended against lawsuits of them using "trademarked" dances because you can't trademark a dance in the US. Long story short, sounds like an international tour is the best route for this masterpiece.

The Kangaroo dance is a Native aboriginal dance that is nearly identical to what she does. I hazard to say that the the aboriginal tribal council or what ever their overseeing governing body is should sue her for what ever a lawyer can find. Its one thing to use it in the Olympics its another to try to copyright it to secure profit and passively aggressively attack other Australians. When it clear cultural appropriation.

cultural appropriation. If that's a real thing why aren't people sued daily over speaking English?
@justinsander765425 күн бұрын
@@wesleygary6651 Because we intentionally teach English to other cultures to facilitate economic, and positive cultural exchange. Since English is the only language where a person can misspell every word in a sentence, incorrectly use homonyms, employ incorrect grammar and still be understood its also the easiest language to learn and use. Especially for any kind of negotiation between two individuals who themselves speak two different languages. This is the main contributing factor as to why one of the smallest countries on the planet once held one of the largest empires. Alternately native English speakers recognize that when a person from another culture learns the language it benefits them too. Because being able to communicate is key to building a mutually beneficial society. Lastly by learning English a person is actively participating in the passive cultural influence of non-english societies by English speaking cultures. Basically by learning English you are self colonizing and making it easier for us to buy your products and influence your culture to be more compatible with ours. That's why we do not make a fuss about it. To use a scifi reference its like a person intentionally injecting themselves with borg nano bots. Thank you for joining us.

@johnlafever316227 күн бұрын
@@joedennehy386his point, that you seemed to have missed was if it is truly breaking, then breaking is a sport based on free invention and copying of moves, building on what has come before. No one person owns anything on the street. If it's trademarkable then it's not technically breaking. It's made up choreographed seizure moves that don't resemble anything previously from break dancing history, which then proves what a fraud she is. She can't have it both ways.
