SCUM 1.0 Release Date Announced! Dropships Action Footage and Upcoming Patch REVEALED!

Gamepires recently released a development blog with significant updates on SCUM. They have confirmed that the highly anticipated 1.0 release is planned for 2025. This release will mark a major milestone for the game as it transitions out of Early Access, where it has been since 2018.
The blog also detailed several upcoming features that players can look forward to. These include the introduction of dropships, which will add new dynamics to gameplay, as well as vehicles, NPCs, and enhanced AI systems. These additions are designed to enrich the open-world survival experience and offer more depth to player interactions and environmental challenges.

This new dropship feature looks cool and I'm betting the NPCs will be a blast, but I'm hoping that post 1.0 the development comes back to emphasizing the game's survival side again. Surviving the actual environment of SCUM is still way too easy. We need cholera, parasites in raw meat, and illnesses to fight against not just scifi creatures and robots.

I wouldn’t say its a difficult job either. What creates friction is when you clearly go the route of micro transactions instead of optimization at the expense of the experience of the players. That’s why they lost the majority of their player base.

Honestly the devs shot themselves in the foot with the update numbering system. We are at 0.95 now, which insinuates a 1.0 soon after which isnt the case. Had they scaled back their numbering system, not as many people would be so upset. Nobody would care if we jumped from version 0.83 or somthing to 1.0

I used to get horde after horde at the B2 airport. That helped me finish my 30k puppet kills and my 3k melee puppet kills Steam achievements. Now I'm more likely to get a horde at one of the smaller towns. The last few times I went to the B2 airport there was very few puppets and I'm suppose to be on an increased puppet server. The mechs are disabled so the puppets was increased.

They've been talking about bringing back all the vehicles but so far the only thing I've seen them confirm is the quad, I'm still wondering about all the other ones that were there before like the police SUV, the station wagon, etc. it would be nice to have the entire collection back. Instead of having so many unusable car husks everywhere there could be a variety of ones that could be potentially salvaged for parts and since there's a variety it would still be a challenge to get enough matching parts for a running vehicle.

I like the dropship idea. Is it in line with what the story started out to be?idk and i really don't care lol. Games mutate,evolve and become different than the original concepts.customizing bases is a fun thing to add but is kinda more for PVE players or RP I guess. Stealth and what triggers hordes is a must fix for sure. And i'm not surprised it turned out to be a 2025 release. Could not picture a working game happening this year. First spawn protection could be nice to not scare away first time players for sure. Lots of interesting things in this. happy to see I wasn't feeling defeated and negative about the future of the game after. Still a lot of hope and promise for the game!

I wonder if we will be able to drink while sitting (Haven't checked for a fix lately). When serving in tavern RP, I would just say it was part of our BCU programming to limit any times of enjoyment XD

Coming to this vid after a drop ship tore me apart when i was on a shipwreck ( ie no where to go) theyre amazing.... aims pretty average but theyre scary as when u hear strange sounds from above..... the puppets are better than they were though there wasnt much wrong with them before just bad players. and i dont know if its a bug but there silent which i also love ( zombies are always loud so its good to have quiet ones) Bringing back the quad reminds me of why i hated them before and calling them the RIS when theres already an item in game called a RIS Adapter is just stupid.... im still loving it. loving the quests and the fun of the game

In my opinion this updates are good but not enough. They should implement more pve content. Such as deliver a "package" to one random point in the map in a limited time and if you fail to deliver it, the package explodes, so is up to you to sacrifice yourself or not to get the rewards. Another one could be clearing sectors with full custody of soldiers or so... I know this are HUGE meta changing and can bring some difficultyes for the main idea from the game. But if we remember this game started as a "hunger games" kinda style and now is more aiming to Day Z. Those are my general thoughts

The New Lilly Pad in the SWAMP looks FUNTASTIC!!!! Base building is going to look so EPIC! The Quads look like a LOT of fun, and look realistic as well! Lovin' the idea of 2 TIRES on bicycle as a full spawn! The play of shadow and light in the bunkers looks amazing (more than it ever did, and I thought it looked great to begin with). I think the dropships are going to be pretty epic. I think the dropships will be released once you obtain a certain amount of FAME, and you'll have to make a quick getaway from time-to-time as they search and then find you. Basically, it could cause you to be fully nomadic, or it could just be to get out of the area for a day or two before they start hunting you again. The updates are going to be amazing! The developers have never let us down before, and now they're gearing up for their final act and into the full release. Nothing but epic content from now till 1.0 and beyond!!! RIBBIT @RayKit!!!

This looks all amazing and I noticed a few things that some of you may not have noticed. They changed our character a bit in both movement animation and the clothes we wear. The base building looks tons better and the walls are thicker which is a good change too. As for the dropship goes I have mixed thoughts on it, But I did noticed something toward the end of the animation of it as it flew off. It appear to take more damage and possible a part almost came off from it. Eitherway the dropship would make the gameplay more challenging.

I love SCUM to death but I have low expectations that the dropship is going to be fun mechanically at all. The mechs for instance are just not enjoyable at all to fight. It's not very obvious where their bullets are hitting and they are not engaging at all to battle. You basically have to cheese your way into killing them which involves waaaaaay more munitions then makes sense. Staying optimistic though.

I personally don't have a problem with the Mechs being so tough to take down. IMO its important for game balance that mechs put the fear of god into you. If they get too easy to take down it will just further dilute the game. Nothing beats that rush of successfully sneaking past a mech into a bunker! That feeling will go away if they're easy enemies

It would be cool if you would be able to set dropships to like 50% health or 15% health or so serverside so its not a ‚once in a lifetime‘ event but more like a regular but managable threat that will also hunt down new players

All doable, not bad at all but they should fix the stats and the skills before all that. They only adressed stealth while virtually every skill needs rework. Above advanced rifleskill is crazy, above advanced medic is crazy, sniping and lockpicking too. Every other skill brings virtually no advantage between advanced and above advanced. You cant possibly balance it perfectly but the way it is is not thought through at all

Was hoping for full electric grids, generators working at the prison etc, lights on and off, more life to the world but w.e let em cook. New bunkers took years.

Looking forwards to this and hope its not far off, I dont mind waiting longer for full release as long as content keeps coming. New building elements look good, was hoping for new stuff like storages and ability to have items stay in the base such as the lantern. but one step at a time, they did opt for easiest fist. Stealth should be interesting, i do get tiered of killing a few puppets, searching, taking 4 steps and then horde triggers. Im liking the drop ship and the base attacks, brings more risk to the world. BUT am also concerned due to weapons and ammo needed to take down mechs are lock behind silver/gold locks in kill boxes and Mr Brenners armory and not all players can lock pick

There is a lot to be excited about here; New features, much needed changes and fixes, better communication from the developers, and a far more sensible approach to content implemention that gives single players and private servers the choice of either activating or deactivating certain mechanics, while they're in testing. It's true, progress has been slow, there is still much to be done, and some decisions have been questionable, at best, but the potential of this game is still unprecedented and I have expressed, many times, to my own community that getting into it now and learning how to survive and thrive is tantamount to buying a future high-value tech stock while it was still cheap. Of course, there is a lot of uncertainty regarding the permittance of mods after 1.0, and I personally believe it would be clinically insane to NOT allow it, but if... IF we get the necessary creative tools for creating our own content, SCUM will eventually ascend into survival stardom.

Unfortunately, the developers only seem to focus on the PVE players, let's take a look at the servers in the top25. Here the robots (Mecs) are all switched off and people didn't want zombies opening doors and jumping through windows. It's clear that the PVE players thought that was great, otherwise it would be pretty boring for them to just hang around ingame all day. Because of these changes so many players have stopped playing Scum. Please wake up and make the game what it used to be Openworld PVP with survival character and basebuilding. Nobody wants a cooking simulator followed by medical studies and space exploration.

ummmm there are plenty of pvp servers if you want them-like the official ones for instance..... if people want to pay for servers and set them up for a relaxed pve, don't play on them servers... making everyone play the way YOU want to will have a pretty negative effect on those players that want to play PvE- in fact many of those players probably bought the game on the promise of PvE co-op play... those servers in the top 25 you mentioned, would suggest more people want to play PvE than what you want them to play anyway...

Should it not be more for 1.0 ? it feels like 1.0 should have major things coming. They shoved some space ship flying around attacking everything and once you attack it back it just fly away with no loot or nothing. So you end up getting killed, your base ruined and usage of high amount of ammunition for what ? so it can fly away and not give anything ? idk mate, i had such a good feeling first time i started scum, but now it feels like they dont do that much. They took all the vehicle away after they took money from players with hype and now SUPER slowly they returning them back !!

a change i wanted to see what the respawning.. an enemy should be able to die outside my base lock picking and respawn 20 seconds 40 feet away in a bed over and over and over and over again. there are tons of ways to fix this

I really really like scum and i think the game is fantasic! But personally, i'm done with the devs like, making epic trailers and teasing us with things and then it takes such a long time to implement it and when they do add those things to the game it's like only 30% of what i expected from the artwork, trailers, etc. The dropship update is a perfect example in my oppinion. I watched the trailer and i expected the dropships to be like a world event like the cargo drop and with NPC's that guard really good loot. And the update is finally there, and it's just a dropship that occasionally fly's by and drops a mech? a bit disappointing in my oppinion. Especially after you watch the trailer. Dont get me wrong, i really believe they will add more content according to dropships and other things but i'm done with the devs like, overselling future content with their artwork, trailers, etc. and then, when the update is there, not delivering as they made us expect.

Yeah definitely, dropping a mech is kinda dumb, I'd like the idea of it dropping a few special ops type NPCs that if you manage to kill could be good loot for weapons and ammo, that could be a good way for a new player to load up on some decent gear without needing to grind for several days.

I've been playing DayZ for about a year now. As a result, both steam and KZbin. Keep trying to steer me towards scum. The problem is or has been up to date anyway. The fact that it's been open beta for a while now. And you still have to pay for it. That was my issue. If it's still in the works and still Early Access, /open beta, whatever, they shouldn't be charging for it already. Not until it's actually complete. As to the mechanics, I would assume it's relatively similar to DayZ and escape from tarkov. Maybe, they may have some new additions. Who knows? In either case, I'm going to wait until 1.0 drops and then see what people say about it

I PERSONALLY hate the hord system all together. I want the option to turn it off . And the radiation areas need to be able to turn the radiation off too so those places can be explored because there's no reason to go there not worth it. I haven't played scum since the last update at all I don't see this game getting much better I'll bet you there will be a DLC to BUY before next update though.

im sad now... i thought they would add walking npc's not some aircraft to drop mech's off... nobody likes the mech man. like 90% of servers just turn them off and that just adds more game-play to the big clans lol. WOW big let-down. Why can't they just add basic npc types and more survival type mechanics and not just vehicle's just add more little things and threats make the game feel more alive!?

And I swear to you that many private servers have touched me, either admin abuse or hackers who are friends of the admins, etc. etc. etc. That tired me out, or the servers that make donation links and give the donors 1 hour of god mod weapons, etc. etc. etc. That tired me out

The dropship thing isnt gonna work. a dropship in general seems cool.. but dropping mechs? ive played this game for close to 3,000 hours and have found one RPG ever, especially since the high tier loot lockers by brennar do NOT refresh still.. and then attacking peoples bases? lol cmon now

I love Scum. No other game like it so far. BUT the game isn't what it set out to be. Until then, I want to avoid anything scum. I also don't appreciate your undirected and unconditional optimism of the devs and lack of wise critism of what most players are saying. So scum is practically a dead game for me. The fact that they talked up a mission system for so long and now with 0.9 and 1.0 coming they have still said nothing about it. Not everyone wants a free-for-all game.
