Rayman Advance Unused Multiplayer

Update: These maps can now be played by using the Rayman Control Panel. It also restores the multiplayer menus in the game and fixes the backgrounds. The reason why these maps can use Rayman Designer tiles is because Rayman Advance is based on a much later build of the game. The object list in the game includes entries for the EDU specific objects for example. Also worth mentioning that the format of the game is practically the same as that of the Mapper (so custom Designer maps), rather than the compiled levels in other versions. Because of this it's not as well optimized, but the difference is so small it's is probably insignificant.

Advance was my very first Rayman 1, it'd have been really cool to have a multiplayer mode to play with friends.

Man, I wonder how would Rayman 1 Multiplayer look like now. I can imagine 3 modes, like Coop Levels, Speedrun Competition and this Capture the flag. Coop and Speedruns might have players using skins, while CTF has Red Raymans vs Blue Raymans!

Haha, yeah, it was fun figuring out ways to play these (broken) levels :P It's really only the jungle one which feels like a complete level.

I'm sure a little bit of work and minimal decompiling can bring this to fruition! And because it is easy to emulate the link cable testing should be a breeze! I would love to see someone try, but I know it's not easy to just up and do something like this.

I had NO idea this was gonna be a thing! XD And I'm sorry but I don't like the advance port of Rayman 1! :( The colours are too bright and too sharp, the pixel quality just doesn't hold a candle to the older ports! :( (Yes thr iOS version has pixles! I think!) And the music is ugly and lazy! :( Yeah! The iOS version is a wee bit lazy but it DOES make more of an effort! And if I ever wanna play this game again, which I am now! Damn right it'll be the iOS version and set the difficulty to easy mode cuz I suck at this game, I die a lot and I need infinite lives! XD

Understandable :) This is probably my least favorite version of the game. It's too bad since they originally made it with the original colors, but changed them to be brighter late in development to compensate for the lack of a backlight on the original GBA. The sprites also didn't have to be downscaled as much as they did if they had just optimized the storage space better.

This is such a cool discovery! I wonder if there are other hidden things like this in the game, or maybe the other releases of rayman 1. Btw, is there a particular reason all the levels use the same track?

Thanks to Ray1Map we have basically managed to find everything there is in every Rayman 1 release :) I posted most discoveries in the Rayman 1 thread on the Pirate Community forums. I might make a video showing all the unused content some day too.

You can play the multiplayer levels with Rayman Control Panel. But it won't actually be in multiplayer though as that was seemingly never implemented into the game.
