Hi Jim. Very helpful video. I am getting ready to install an RV-200 on a sailboat. I have dual Axiom 9 Pro RVX MFD's. Can you tell me the angle of the beam coming out of the RV-200, particularly the angle coming aft, so that I can make sure I position the transducer enough forward of the keel, which is 5.5ft below, so it doesn't get interference. I understand the fore/aft beam angle on my existing DST800 transducer is 10 degrees. Thanks very much!
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 3 жыл бұрын
Nice setup! The sonar beams on RealVision 3D transducer (like RV200) measure out like this: -CHIRP Sonar (170-230 kHz) is a round (conical) beam with a 25° downward cone -CHIRP DownVision (320-380 kHz) is a flattened conical beam with a 60° spread port/starboard, and a 1.2° fore/aft spread -CHIRP SideVision (320-380 kHz) is a pair of flattened conical beams (1 to port, 1 to starboard), identical to DownVision. They are rotated outwards to cover from just below horizontal to the outside edges of the DownVision beams. -The RealVision 3D channel utilizes the combined signals of the DownVision and SideVision channels, plus an additional set of receive-only elements that give it 3D awareness. Of all of them the only one that I would possibly be worried about is the CHIRP sonar with its 25-degree cone, but i think it will sneak past the keel without any issue if it is 5.5 feet down. The beam spread at 5.5 feet below is only about a 2-foot diameter circle.

@@RaymarineInc Awesome, that is so helpful, I really appreciate it!! One followup question. If I continue to power the DST800 transducer, will that work OK at the 235kHz I understand it uses, while the RV-200 is operating too? I am not sure if the DST800 is a smart/digital one or analog, but it looks like it is not on a bandwidth that is also used by the RV-200, but I just wanted to make sure.

If this has been asked before I'm sorry. Is there a way I could take the realvision 3d plot from say my tender and transfer it to the larger boat to follow the charted path into a shallow Anchorage?
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tony. Currently the RealVision 3D model is only available on the screen that is displaying it, and can't be saved. We are looking at some different ways of saving it and making it available for future use. Alternatively though, you could use the RealBathy feature to create a chart, and that could be shared to another boat. RealBathy uses your GPS and sonar to build a bathymetric chart of the water under the boat. You can specify where the file gets saved when you are setting it up, and that file could be copied onto another microSD card and used on the other boat. RealBathy can build a depth contour map with 1-foot contour intervals. You'd need to have a Raymarine display on both your tender and big-boat for this to work, as this feature is Raymarine-specific. RealBathy is available though on all of our LightHouse 2, Element and Axiom LightHouse 3 systems. You can configure it in the Chart application. Got to settings, Depths, and you'll see the switch to turn it on and designate where the file is saved.

I have the Axiom 9 with the dual RV-220 bronze transducers. It was installed a year ago and worked great all season. When the boat was hauled out in the winter, I noticed a lot of marine growth on the rubber part of the transducers. I’m about to paint the bottom of the boat and was wondering what I should do with the transducers to clean them up and not have as much growth on them this upcoming season. Will transducer paint suffice for the rubber part? Can I scrub them to get the growth residue off?
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff. There are some transducer-specific anti-fouling paints available. MDR is one brand, Pettit also makes one. They are specifically designed to be compatible with the rubber acoustic windows on the transducer. Normal bottom paint has some pretty harsh solvents in it that will attack the rubber and cause it to break down at an accelerated rate. Here are a couple of links to point you in the right direction. You can normally pick these up at your local marine store, chandlery, etc. www.westmarine.com/buy/mdr--transducer-antifouling-paint--128225 www.wholesalemarine.com/pettit-transducer-antifouling-spray-paint.html

Jim, I have a 12” Axiom + MFD (Helm) along with a 9: Axiom MFD (Nav Station). I understand that with these, I don’t need a black box. My questions are: 1. Will the two MFD’s both show sonar? 2. Do I only need to run the line to one of them? 3. Will it display on both? 4. I have a sailboat and do not fish. I’m interested in using it for anchoring in shallow water (10 - 20 feet). Which transducer would you recommend? I’d like one that will also help to determine the nature of the bottom (mud, rock, grass, etc). Thanks so much for your help.
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 2 жыл бұрын
Hopefully one or the other of your Axiom units has built-in sonar (Axiom RV) as that will make this a bit easier to configure. If that is the case one of our CPT-S through hull transducers in plastic or bronze would be a good choice. These transducers are internally compensated for deadrise and mount flush to the hull. If you don't want to drill through the bottom and have a solid hull you could also use a CPT-S in-hull transducer. These all operate in the 170 to 230 kHz high CHIRP band and can very accurately calculate depth and show bottom density. They can see fish too, though you mention that's not as important. When networked together using RayNet fast Ethernet the sonar will be visible and accessible on both displays. The transducer only needs to be run to the unit with the sonar built-in. If neither of your Axiom units has built-in sonar you will need to add it with an external black box sonar or a depth instrument. The CP100 sonar module would be the most economical way to do it, paired with any of the CPT-S transducers mentioned above. You could also use the CP370 sonar module though its more expensive and also requires transducers that are a bit more expensive too. For your application the CP100 would be the better solution. If you went the route of a depth instrument (i50 Depth, i50 Tridata, i70 and iTC-5 module, etc.) you could get a numerical depth readout, but you would not see any trace of the bottom or bottom density indications.

Just a quick question do you know if the Raymarine element HC has a vector ,come heading line? Thanks
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 3 жыл бұрын
Element does have an option for on-screen vectors. With the directional pad, place the cursor on the boat icon and press OK. In the popup menu you'll see checkboxes to enable the Heading and Course over Ground (COG) vectors. There is also a Tide arrow and Wind arrow. You can adjust the length of time represented by the vectors (Reference Period) or you can set them to be infinite length so they project to the edge of the screen at all times. In order to display the heading vector, Element is looking for a compass sensor of some kind along with a speed-thhrough-water sensor. The COG vector is generated using the GPS course over ground and speed over ground. The Wind vector requires the presence of a wind instrument. The Tide arrow is generated when Element has sensors for Heading, Speed through Water, and GPS data (COG and SOG.)

The High-Wide transducer covers from the surface down to about 500-feet. Its primary benefit is its wide, constant-width 25° beam which gives it a nice search pattern. With those 2 channels, I think you will more often be using that frequency. The Low frequency beam is more for deep-water search, at depths beyond 500 feet. Airmar, the manufacturer of those transducers suggest the B175L has a max depth of about 2500 feet. If the tuna happen to be deep searching for food, you'll pick them up there. You can split your screen and look at both channels simultaneously too, either vertically or horizontally. If any other viewers have some tips here, please join the discussion too!

Hi Jim, I have an Axiom 9 with a RV-100 transom mounted transducer on my 17 foot Boston Whaler. I would like to add something low frequency for deeper water. Can both transducers work off my Axiom 9 or do I need an additional unit?
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc Жыл бұрын
Hi Robert. There are 2 ways to get you where you want to go. A little-known feature of the Axiom RV units is they have a 2nd, HD Digital sonar built into them that supports 50 kHz and 200 kHz frequencies with 600-watts of power. You can activate it using an accessory cable (A80492) and adding an additional transducer from our lineup of dual-frequency transducers compatible with the CP370 sonar. The 50 kHz channel in particular will get you much more depth range because of its low frequency. The downside to doing it this way is you will sacrifice the high-frequency CHIRP channel (170-230) kHz from your RV-100 transducer. The 200 kHz, non-CHIRP frequency in the new transducer will replace it. The other way to get there would be to add an additional external sonar module like a CP370, CP470 or CP570 and a compatible transducer. These modules would connect through the RayNet network and their output is viewable on your Axiom 9 RV along with its channels from your current RV100. This way is a bit more expensive, but you do have more transducer options available to you.

I have Axiom + with Rv100. I want upgrade the transducer to 1kW so was going with CP470 as the sonar with a Airmar TM275LHW so i can get max coverage on high frequency up to 1000ft. I want to mainly use it for Tuna/Marlin/Mackrel in these depths in Australia and good bottom sounding for reef fish like snapper. Im not interested in deep fishing even though this can see down to 3000ft. I also want best picture as possible when driving at say 20-30knots looking around for pelegics I dont believe in trolling around aimlessly hoping something happens. Is there any reason to consider TM265LW or TM265LM?
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 3 жыл бұрын
The TM275 LHW looks to be a good setup for what you want to do. The wide high beam is rated to 3,000 feet by Airmar, the manufacturer, so you'll be well inside of its maximum range capability. The Low frequency beam should work quite nicely too as tuna are detected well at 60 kHz, inside this transducer's low frequency range. The TM265LW has a narrower beam on the high-frequency channel so you won't cover as much area under the boat. The TM265LM isn't a bad choice, but similarly doesn't have as wide of a beam which I think would be helpful to you. Airmar does have a nice set of specifications and facts for each one. I do encourage you to take a look. TM275LHW: www.airmar.com/productdescription.html?id=164 TM265LH: www.airmar.com/productdescription.html?id=75 TM265LM: www.airmar.com/productdescription.html?id=59

Hello Jonathan. The beams of the SideVision sonar are angled slightly downwards to keep them out of the turbulent wave chop at the top of the water column. Its normal to not see fish at the surface adjacent to the boat, and then deeper as you go farther out, as that surface area is above the beam. I'm not sure what the Green LED is about. Typically its red while off, white while on, and rarely blue when the unit is booted into recovery mode which is a diagnostic feature. I suggest powering off at the circuit breaker or unplugging the cable to Axiom, letting it sit for about 30 seconds, and then reconnect the power and give it another shot. If it gives you trouble again please open a ticket with our support team at raymarine.custhelp.com or shoot me an email to james.mcgowan@raymarine.com and we can do some deeper digging into it.

Can I combine and instal two transducers types to handle RealVision and deeper waters using and Axiom Pro and CP570 module ?
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Hussein. The Axiom Pro RVX model has connections for both a RealVision 3D transducer (single or pair) as well as a CHIRP sonar transducer (single or pair.) The CHIRP sonar on Axiom Pro supports up to 1kW of power output. The CP570 sonar module is an upgrade over the Axiom Pro RVX for CHIRP sonar. CP570 offers up to 2 kW of transmit power, on 2 independent channels. It is possible to split the transducers and connect the RealVision 3D transducer directly to that port on the Axiom RVX, and then connect CP570 and its CHIRP transducer(s) for the 2 kW channels. The 1kW CHIRP ports on Axiom RVX will remain empty.

Hello Is realvison 3d mapping possible with the element 7 hv model as in the video? what are the realvision 3d differences between element and axiom thank you very much
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Mahmut. Element has RealVision 3D, similar to Axiom, but with one key difference. RealVision 3D on Axiom has options for an un-stabilized trailing mode presentation as well as a stabilized GPS mode where the 3D display reacts dynamically to the boat's maneuvering and motion. This model allows Axiom's RealVision 3D to stitch together adjacent strips of the bottom map to create a larger 3D model of the fishing ground. To do this Axiom uses inputs from the GPS system, plus it receives motion information from a sensor built into it's transducer system. On the Element HV, the RealVision 3D presentation is limited to the unstabilized trailing mode only. Element does not have the additional sensors necessary to stabilize the display in its transducer. The 3D model generated by Element in real-time is very detailed, but it does not respond to the maneuvering or motion of the boat. Its sonar history is a single continuous strip of information, and it cannot stitch together multiple runs across the same or adjacent areas.

Axiom+ 9 RV is a great choice for your boat. You mention an inboard motor. In that case you'll want to go with a through-hull transducer like the RV200 (bronze) or RV300 (plastic) rather than a transom mount. The RV100 on the transom will have trouble signaling through the propellor wash from an inboard setup. Panoptix is a great product. We are certainly aware of it. I can't comment about unreleased products but know that we are always innovating to bring you new technologies.

Hi Jim, Does Axiom 12 RV do chirp as well as traditional sonar? I have one and RV100 tranducer and a TM258 transducer. I get real vision and 200hz but not sure how to get chirp. Any guidance? Thanks
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 2 ай бұрын
The Axiom 12 RV has high frequency CHIRP (170 to 230 kHz) as part of its RealVision 3D sonar. There is a secondary 50/200 kHz non-CHIRP digital sonar inside Axiom RV as well that can be activated using a transducer adapter cable. It sounds like you are using that cable to drive your RV100 and TM258 at the same time. This dual-transducer capability has pluses and minuses. On the positive side, the 2 channel you gain with it, 200 kHz and 50 kHz, have much higher power output (600-Watts) and can penetrate much deeper into the water column. The negative of this setup is that the the Axiom RV can't support both high frequency CHIRP and the 200 kHz digital channels at the same time. The trade-off is that the high-frequency CHIRP is disabled. The only way around it really would be to add a black-box sonar module like our CP370, and use that to drive your TM258 transducer. This would allow the Axiom RV to drive all channels on the RV100 transducer, including the high frequency CHIRP channel.

Hi I just bought a 2013 Tes sailboat equipped with Raymarine instruments. However only the chart plotter is working. The depth sounder only shows dash lines. Also I could not locate a through hull transducer. I would appreciate a hint of where should I look for the problem. Thanks
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc Жыл бұрын
Hello Stefan. The dashed lines on the depth sounder indicates that the display screen is not seeing the transducer, or not seeing depth information provided by another source. I am guessing you probably have ST60, ST60 Plus or maybe ST40 instruments. Typically the depth transducer is attached directly to the back of the depth instrument. The transducer could be a through hull, an in-hull (transmits through the solid fiberglass) or perhaps a transom mount, but we would not normally use one of those on a sailboat. Another possibility is that your chartplotter might have a built-in sonar of its own, and it was feeding depth information out to the network that populated your instruments. In that case there would be a transducer connection to the chartplotter directly, or to a black-box sonar connected via networking to the chartplotter. If you'd like to snap a few photos of what you have and send them to me, I'd be happy to help identify what you have, what connections are present, and hopefully we can find the issue. james.mcgowan@raymarine.com comes right to me.

You might want to bring a friend and take the boat out to make this check. Look over the transom while the boat is moving and look for a position where the water flow is clearest. You want to avoid turbulence coming off the transom caused by skegs, strakes, outlets and discharge ports as the cavitation stream they make will interrupt the sonar beam. Ideally the transducer should be at least 15-inches from the propellor, and preferably on the down-stoke side of the rotating propellor. If you have dual props, centered between them is ideal. The bottom face of the transducer should be about 1/4 to 1/2 inch lower than the bottom of the boat. This allows any air flowing over the hull to flow around the transducer face, rather than under it. When setting the screws on the transom bracket, keep in mind that 2 screws fit into slots, while the third screw fits into a hole. Set the slotted screws first, in the center of the slot vertically. This allows you to fine-tune the transducer height by slightly loosening the screws and sliding the entire bracket up or down as needed. Once you find the optimal height, add the third screw through the hole to prevent any up or down sliding of the bracket.

Hi Jim I bought an Airmar M265LH transducer to look for squid, tuna and mackerel etc. The frequency of 130 to 210 allows me to do this and the low frequencies to display quite deep with good enough detail. In your opinion, what could be the 7 "Raymarine display to connect directly to this 1 kw chirp transducer? I would just like to display ecosounder no more. Thank you so much
@RaymarineInc

Hello Rodolfo. If you want to connect the M265LH directly to a display, you'll need to use an Axiom Pro RVX 9, 12 or 16. Those Axiom models have the built in 1kW CHIRP sonar, and the M265LH will plug in directly. These displays also have a RealVision 3D transducer port, so if you want to run DownVision, SideVision, 3D, etc. you can also add that transducer to your system.

Hi, is there a big fish alarm feature on the Element 7 HV-100
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 9 ай бұрын
Yes. There is a fish alarm on Element in the sonar menu. In the fishfinder app, open Menu...Settings...and go to the Fish Detection tab. There you can turn the alarm on, and adjust its sensitivity from 0 to 100. The LOWER the number, the LARGER the fish needs to be to trigger the alarm. You can also setup shallow and deep limits so fish above or below a certain depth won't trigger the alarm. Note...this feature was added to Element via software update. If you don't see this option on your Element system you might need to update its software. The current software for Element as of today (October 9, 2023) is version 3.19.10, issued in June of 2023. Hi gents. I'm running 2 axiom pro rvx 12" displays. For transducers I have a H/W and an L chirp and a pair of RV-212s. I'm having an issue that I can't seem to figure out. With mfd 1 on full screen chart and mfd 2 on full screen fish finder with side scan selected, there are times when pressing and holding a spot on the side scan image does not cause the "add waypoint " option to appear. The screen stops scrolling but no option menu appears. If I go to fish finder split screen and look at the side scan image in that mode, the add waypoint option pops up when I touch and hold the screen. I have had to power off the display and power it back on to fix the issue. Any thoughts?

Thank you! I have Axiom 7 DV. Is there a way to connect 3d RV sonar to it?
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 16 күн бұрын
The Axiom 7 DV only has the built-in sonar hardware to support DownVision and high frequency CHIRP. If you would like to add RealVision 3D sonar to it, you'll either need to add a sonar black-box module, or another Axiom, to your system. Adding either the RVX-1000 or RVM-1600 sonar modules would get you all of the RealVision 3D channels, plus 2 channels of 1kW CHIRP as well. These modules connect to the RayNet network and have dual transducer connections on them. One of them is for a RealVision 3D or RealVison MAX transducer, and the other supports an Airmar CHIRP trasnducer or transducer pair. If you have any interest in having a 2nd Axiom onboard your boat, you could also get to where you want to be by adding any Axiom RV or Axiom+ RV model, any size, to the boat and networking them together. When networked you can see different things on each screen. All of the sonar channels are shared by both screens.

@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Pete. Thank you for watching. There are 2 paints that I know of that are formulated specifically for transducers. They both work well. Pettit makes one of them. The other is MDR Brand. Here are a couple of links so you can read about them: shop.mdramazon.com/TRANSDUCER-PAINT-MDR-720.htm www.pettitpaint.com/products/antifouling-bottom-paint/transducer-paint/transducer-paint/ There are probably others out there too. If anyone else reads this comment, please feel free to reply and add them to the conversation for the benefit of everyone. What makes transducer antifouling paint special compared to normal bottom paint is they are formulated with ingredients that don't attack the plastic and soft rubber surfaces of the transducers. Normal bottom paint has some very strong solvents in it that will break down plastic and rubber parts over time, leading to premature transducer failure.

We have i70 instruments and Axiom Pro. Our sailboat is getting a lot of false shallow readings off keel or bubbles etc. When still the sounder works great and about 50% of the time when moving we get these steady false readings at about 5 feet. We are mostly concerned with the depth reading on the i70 and the Axiom but not using Sonar or Fishfinder apps. Will the sensitivity settings in the Sonar/Fishfinder App affect the i70 readout or just the scrolling Sonar picture? Would we use "Gain" or "Surface Filter?" Thank you.
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Harley. On your boat is the Axiom Pro the source for the depth finder, or do you have another depth instrument or iTC-5 module and depth transducer as part of your i70 system? If your Axiom Pro does not have a transducer connected directly to it, then its sensitivity settings won't change anything on the i70. That said, if you can see a bottom scroll on your Fishfinder app, there must be a transducer connected to it, and in that case, those settings will apply. The i70 instrument repeats the depth it receives from another source on the network. If there are no other sources of depth on the boat then the numbers it reports are coming from the Axiom Pro unit. Adjustments you make on Axiom to sensitivity, gain, etc. ultimately do impact what is displayed on i70. Where you mention that the false readings are steady at about 5-feet, I suspect the sonar is either seeing the keel itself in its transducer cone, or it is seeing a stream of cavitation bubbles being produced by the keel passing through the water. Adjusting the surface filter might help, as that filter is more heavily concentrated at the top of the water column. I would leave the gain in automatic mode, if possible, otherwise the sounder won't adjust as effectively to the water getting deeper or shallower. Ultimately, the solution to this might end up being moving the transducer to a different location where it is more forward of the keel. This would get it in smoother water flow and away from the turbulence caused by the keel passing through the water.

@RaymarineInc

We support 2 different systems for recording depth soundings and mapping them in real-time. If you run our LightHouse Charts the system is called RealBathy. You can turn that layer on or off as you wish by going in your chartplotter to Menu...Settings...Depths...Depth Recording. There is a radio switch to turn on or off depth recording, and then another switch to turn on or off the overlay. (You can have it keep recording in the background, but not show the overlay all the time using those controls.) If you are running Navionics charts its a similar feature called SonarChart Live. You'll find its controls in the same place in the charplotter's depths menu. You can add a floating data item with the live depth to any screen on Axiom. Touch Menu...Settings...Page Settings...Edit Data Overlays, Add. You'll be presented with Axiom's data manager. Find the category called Depth, and then select Depth from the list to display it. You can drag it anywhere on the screen you want it to appear. Tap it and you'll see options to resize it, delete it, change it for something else, or move it. Tap DONE on the top when you are happy with its size and position. You can have up to 4 of these data overlay on each page. You can have different overlays on different pages if you like.

The basic feature set of the sonar built into Axiom Pro is the same as what the CP470 offers. The major difference is the Axiom Pro's built-in sonar is limited to 1kW of power output, where the CP470 module is capable of up to 2kW of power output. Your TM275LH-W transducer is a 1kW model. If you connect it to a CP470 the sonar will identify it and adjust its output power to match so it does not damage the transducer. What would you like to see improved on your current setup? We might be able to tweak some settings to get you there.

Rough seas can be tricky as the hull will be generating lots of bubbles as the boat rolls and pitches. The sound signals travel very well through water, but stop nearly dead when they encounter even the smallest bubbles. Keeping the transducer in the water will be critical.

Hi, can you tell me how to calibrate my Axiom 3D? I see my boat going sideways all the time.
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 2 ай бұрын
There is a sensor inside the RealVision 3D transducer called an AHRS (Attitude and Heading Reference System) which measures the boat's heading, pitch, roll and yaw. In 3D mode it is used to render a smooth picture of the ocean bottom by removing any undulations in the depth reading caused by wave action on the surface. In the stabilized 3D presentation, the AHRS is used to detect when the boat changes heading so the 3D model can be rotated accordingly and the adjacent strips of bottom can be stitched together. Normally the AHRS sensor will self-calibrate while the boat is underway, and if it has made a turn of at least 100° at a speed between 3 and 15 knots. Sometimes though, the calibration process can get stuck, or there can be a strong magnetic signature nearby that impacts the calibration. That causes the skew between the boat icon and the 3D model you are seeing. There are a couple of things you can do to help it along. First, you can try making a couple of full-circles to port and then starboard, or a pair of figure-8 turns. This allows the sensor to detect the magnetics around it and adjust accordingly. Second, you can also force it to restart calibration by going to Menu...Settings...Sounder...Reset Sounder. This causes the small computer inside the transducer to reboot, and re-calibrate the AHRS sensor. In rare instances where the transducer is installed on a boat with a very strong magnetic signature, it might be necessary to turn off the AHRS sensor entirely. That can be done by going to Menu...Settings...Sounder....AHRS Stabilization and flipping the switch to Off. The might be a factor on an old boat with a steel or iron hull, but it would be rare to need to turn this sensor off entirely.

Hello Lainth. Thanks for watching! If I had to guess I think there might be a settings conflict, or some kind of bug on your system causing it to reset. If you have not done so already please update your Element to the latest available release. As of today the latest is 3.16.38, available here: www.raymarine.eu/service-and-support/software-updates/element-series/lighthouse-sport-os.html If you have your Element configured for Wi-Fi access you can also download the software directly to it. One other possibility that I'll mention since you run a kayak setup is power. The sonar system, especially the DownVision and SideVision, will drop out before the normal sonar and the GPS/Chart if the power level starts to get low. If you are seeing this happen more towards the end of your fishing day, it could be a low-voltage issue. I am a kayaker too, and see this on my own Element and Axiom systems as the power level gets low.

Hello Don. Yes, you can use that transducer with Axiom using a transducer adapter cable accessory. The A70D used an Airmar transducer with a miniature 7-pin connector. There are 2 ways you can do it using optional adapter cables. If you want to use the A70D's old transducer only, and not install any new transducer, the adapter is part number adapter you need is part number A80488. This adapter will turn on Axiom RV's 600-watt internal sonar and your Airmar transducer will be fully functional, as it was on your A70D. All of Axiom RV's RealVision 3D channels will be switched off as there is no transducer present to support them. If you would like to use both your old transducer and also add a RealVision 3D transducer to support Axiom's other capabilities, use part number A80491. This is a Y-Cable that plugs into the 25-pin transducer connection on Axiom RV models. It splits the port to accomodate a standard 25-pin RealVision 3D transducer, plus your 7-pin Airmar dual frequency transducer. This is actually a pretty capable setup because it takes advantage of a little-known feature in Axiom RV models.....their built-in 600-watt digital sonar. With this setup you Axiom will offer you CHIRP DownVision, CHIRP SideVision, RealVision 3D, 200 kHz downlooking at 600-watts and 50 kHz downlooking at 600-watts. This dual-transducer configuration is a great way to utilize Axiom RV's advanced imaging sonar capabilities and also have some extra powerful punch for deeper waters too. I spoke about this configuration in our "Everything Axiom" live stream a few weeks ago too.

Hello Tomasso. We do make a through hull transducer for the Element HV, however it is plastic rather than bronze. If your boat is either fiberglass or metal hulled this should not be an issue. If you hull is wood, it won't work for you as there is the potential for the wood to swell and crack the transducer housing. We offer the plastic through-hull in 2 versions: A80604 is a single, all-in-one plastic through hull transducer that supports all of the Element HV channels. Ideally, this would be mounted on a relatively flat spot, or through the boat's centerline. It comes with a fairing block that can be cut to compensate for a small bit of deadrise, but if its ends up in a location where the keel of the boat creates a shadow your SideVision and 3D performance will suffer on one side. T70448 is a dual-transducer system, plastic, for boats with significant deadrise on the hull. This system splits the SideVision and 3D elements into separate port and starboard arrays. You'd mount them on opposite sides of the boat's keel, allowing the overall system to have unobstructed visibility to the sides. Internally, the 2 transducers are joined together with a Y-Cable supplied in the kit, and they connect to Element HV with a single cable. The Element sees the pair as if it was a single transducer. Fairing blocks are included for both transducers that can be cut to fit the deadrise of the hull. If your boat has a wooden hull then I would consider using an Axiom+ or Axiom Pro instead of Element, as the transducers for those systems are available in bronze or stainless steel in addition to plastic.

@RaymarineInc thank you Jim, because my fiberglass boat has a keel, I will have to buy the pair T70448. Fortunately I saw your video, otherwise I should have both wrong stuff.

Hi Jim , just buy a axiom pro 12 rvx with a rv 100 , it's works fine but in shallow water the chirp 200 khz don't offers a good coverage ! so i want to install a other transducer perhaps a 600 watt non chirp p79 50/200 khz - p79 is a 600 watt transducer , can i connect the p79 on the 1 kw connector ? -do i need a cable adaptators to connect ? witch one ? Y cable or A80488 - can i swich easily to the rv 100 to use the chirp 200 khtz in deeper water without disconnect any cable ? - the liquid in the p79 is water ? glycol ? Other ? Want to buy an other axiom pro 12 can i put left side vision on left MFD and right side vision on the other screen to upgrade the résolution ? Sorry for my really poor language , but not easy for me ! thanks and kisses from France

Thank you for watching, Stephane! You can use a P79 600-watt transducer on Axiom Pro RVX's 1kW connector. You will need transducer adapter cable A80496 to make the connection. That adapts the 11-pin transducer port (1kW) to accept an 8-pin non-CHIRP Airmar transducer. The version of the P79 you'll want is our part number E66008. You won't need to disconnect anything to access the channels on the P79 transducer. When the Axiom Pro RVX detect the transducer it will add those channels to its selections. The reservoir for the P79 is typically filled with propylene glycol antifreeze. That is an antifreeze solution that is non-toxic. Here in the USA it is commonly available in most auto-parts store, hardware stores, and places that sell supplies for campers and recreational vehicles. It is often used to winterize the plumbing and keep pipes from freezing in potable water systems.

Also, yes, you can add a second screen to your system and access any of the sonar channels on any display. You'll link the displays with a RayNet ethernet cable (included in the box).

For a Caterpillar 3176 diesel, you may need to consult with a 3rd party engine gateway manufacturer. I suggest getting in touch with Yacht Devices, and asking about their YDES-04 engine gateway. In their online lising they mention the Cat 3176B engine with an ATA data link. With some additional information about your boat and motors, they would be able to advise as to whether or not that gateway will work. www.yachtd.com/products/j1708_gateway.html Once the gateway is installed, connecting it to Axiom is simple. The NMEA 2000 output of the gateway connects to the SeaTalk NG Device. On Axiom go to Home...Settings...Boat Details. Set the engine manufacturer to "other" and tell it how many engines you have. This will pre-configure the Dashboard application to show the proper number of engines on its engine gauge display.

I have an Axiom 9 with an RV-200 transducer that is essentially worthless at 500'+ for targeting cod. The depth cuts out and the sonar is constantly resetting itself. I added a 50/200hz - Airmar P79 Transducer with a Y-Cable and discovered I no longer have temperature and High Chirp. The High Chirp was mentioned in the Raymarine webinar, but losing temperature from the RV200 is terrible! To anyone thinking about doing this STOP, don't waste your time or money.

Send me an email, james.f.mcgowan@raymarine.com and I will check in on this for you. I am surprised to hear that the temperature went away. I will check with our team. Maybe there is a way we can restore it.

@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Jean-Marc. You can update via Wi-Fi, or you can download the software from Raymarine.com and apply it using a microSD card. This video might be helpful to you: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKmVfZuGfa2Wd6M If by chance your Axiom is reporting that it does not have enough free space to complete the update, plug any microSD card into its reader that has at least 2GB of free space. That will give it room to download, unpack and apply the update. That sometimes happens with original generation Axiom 7, 9 and 12 models as they have less onboard storage memory than the Axiom+, Pro and XL models.

In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens kzbin.infoUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

Stainless transducers in aluminum hulls are not a good idea. Use the plastic types instead.
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 2 жыл бұрын
Generally, this is correct. The plastic transducers do not interact negatively with the aluminum, preventing electrolysis and corrosion. Our RV-400, RV-410 and RV-420 stainless steel transducers can be installed in metal-hulled vessels as long as they are installed according to our instructions, using the supplied isolator parts included in the kit. This prevents the stainless transducer from making any contact with the aluminum hull.

I have an Element HV12 and have never had worse buyers regret, what a piece of crap! Who designed the interface? The chart plotter and finding, navigation to waypoints is terrible! I wish I bought a Humminbird again. My Element is hard to use, and continually decides you flip the image so land on my port is suddenly on my starboard despite halving the unit set to heading up. Why can't you have a simple kind of road view like other units when navigating to a waypoint, and make it much easier to find and select your nearby waypoints? Disappointing to say the least $3000 AUD for a unit that is very sub standard!
