I never understood the label russ got as a “stat padder” I think its gotten more evident as russ has gotten older, that he just outhustles/outworks everybody on the court, triple doubles from point guard positions only shows the competitiveness from that player, guys like Smart, Suggs, Bruce Brown all embody the competitiveness of Russell Westbrook

Just to clean up some wrong information; Ibaka was NOT on that MVP roster as he was traded for Oladipo during the off-season, as Sam Presti was trying to add a 3 & D guy to support KD and Russ, because he finally started to realize the direction the league was going in. But we all know what ended up happening during that same exact off-season. Jerami Grant WAS INDEED there that season, for a matter of fact he was there when KD was there. The guy just didn't establish himself yet, at the time he was just viewed as an athletic defensive forward who could catch a lob here and there. Even though the team overall was pretty bad it wasn't "just Russ and Adams", Kanter was arguably the second best player on the team at the time, coming off the bench. Which is why OKC fans, myself included, were upset the Thunder traded Kanter for Melo. The guy, unlike Melo, was willing to be the star off the bench and was really efficient. Praise Melo for his Denver and Knicks days all you want but let's stop acting like OKC Melo had any positive effect on that team. Dude can go to/host as many podcast and say he was willing to come off the bench all he wants, we all know the truth at the end of the day.

Yeah people value point guards in same terms as Curry. But not everyone is gonna be lights out shooter, shit, that is for small % of players. Russ was vicious rim attacker, had nice pull up middy, great rebounder, passer. Russ is special, top 10 point guards in history easyyy, more like top 6
