Raymond&Maria is a slightly shy band from Stockholm Sweden that to their own surprise experienced great success back home.
This is their story:
"After a year in a basement trying to figure out our complicated borrowed recording-equipment, we made
30 copies of our first single "No one notices your brand new T-shirt" (in Swedish "Ingen vill veta var du köpt din tröja") and sent them to people we liked. Then everything went crazy. Within two weeks it was number one in all the Swedish charts and after another two it had sold platinum. We also won a Swedish grammy. If we weren't us we'd like to be a mix between Simon&Garfunkel, The Smiths, Dylan
and ABBA. Our sound is basic and simple. Two girls singing, two acoustic guitars and drums. Bass when needed. Our lyrics are - you could say - political on an individual level."
Raymond&Maria and producer James Iha:
A year ago James Iha -- former Smashing Pumpkins
guitarist - came across a demo with our new songs
and sent us an e-mail telling us ha wanted to produce
our next album. A truly amazing thing for us since
he's one of our all time favorite guitar players (and a
very nice uy as it turned out). In December of last year, we recorded three new songs in his studio Stratosphere in New York , and this spring he came over to our favourite Scandinavian studio -- Ocean Sound in Giske, Norway -- to record six more. Now -- we've just returned from the final session in New York with a finished album.

id say for someone who understands swedish, teh swedish version IS better in terms of flow and such. but this one still evokes the emotions and thoughts its meant to :)

First appreciated this song when I heard it playing as hauntingly enjoyable background music in a porn flick. Though the melody itself was distinct, between the poor clarity of the sound source in the film, and the wailing groans in the foreground, it was tough simply determining the lyrics were foreign rather than English. After finding it still stuck in my mind, hours after the associated images faded, I edited a small sound clip from the film, intent on finding the band responsible for composing it. Clueless of the language, and thus its country of origin, it sat on my desktop for nearly 6 months, before I eventually ran it through Shazam, which finally revealed it to be the Swedish Raymond & Maria's lusty little number in Finnish. Fitting title. I never noticed any T-shirt either, new, old, or wrinkled.

Maybe they didn't "feel the need to put their song in English". Are you saying that if you are Swedish, that you can only sing in Swedish? No. Maybe they just liked it better in English. Have you thought of that? They chose what they chose, and it's too late to change it. So you're going to have to life with it. (Also, I think it goes perfectly with the flow of the song... They're really talented, and made it work)

This is sucha anti kapitalist song. Trying to aim the spot lights of a "nonesense" life of kapitalist habbits. However I think this song is a pathetic and bad attempt to unglorify our living. People can feel sadisfactory from compliments from the boss, and its not any less real from any other feeling you get from something. Buying stuff is not only a way of showing acheivment in fincial, but its also an altarnative way of being able to express yourself of what you like. All these things doesn't mean you will a not have a: family who will miss you when you pass away. Friends or co-workers that remember you. This song is so bad its redicilious, the lyrics and melody sucks bad. ashamed to be swedish.
