Yes, I agree. We had way more flexibility in the old school Oculus home. You can resize and reposition monitors anywhere. Just as you can in KZbin VR, except for with as many monitors as you have plugged in in real life

I was pretty disappointed from the passthrough. Not that good (coming from pro). Yes a little bit more contrasty and a little bit more clear. But still very grainy and the demo they show with highlights are not true to life. If there's light from a window it still mess it up.

and the strap absolutely SUCKS, coming from Pro. Such a rip off to buy the higher storage one, when you get it and realize you can't use the damn thing without a silicone cover and an better head strap. But if you add the battery elite strap and a silicone cover the price shoots up close to $1000! Not pleased.

Cool, but I still think its impractical. Its already an added step to put on headphones for your computer, now you're putting on basically a helmet which messes up your hair and gives like 480-720p displays. Its a cool trick, but I doubt I'd want to use it over the alternative.

@damedus the display on the headset is 4K. Unless that display you see through the headset takes up the whole field of view it will always be less than 4K. In the image for example it's only a portion making it likely closer to 720p or 1080p. Plus it will have some added scaling issues from both being an image placed at irregular resolutions and the fact moving closer or farther away increases or decreases how many pixels it can work with. Basically no matter what it will always have a funny look to it unless the display on the headset it just obnoxiously high res like the Apple headset will be. I wasn't commenting at all about the image in the video, no video can represent a VR headset well. I'm merely stating the fact of how displays work.

@Skylancer727 the quest 3 res is per eye tho I use a 85 inch 4k display and a 65 inch 4k oled display and I find no difference to ar screens I place beside them. I don't see fuzzy text or blurriness at all. I'm using it to decorate ar items in my room even when I'm simply using the pc it's a game changer.

Ehhh it depends. Text readability is kinda bad unless you blow up the font super big, the screen resolution is just too low to use this reliably for work. Apple Vision Pro is more up your alley, but obviously far more expemsive

Good question! Still a little impractical unless your work is remote meetings and conferences. If you're just talking about screens and typing, you can likely code faster without a headset.

How it works is a whole research topic. You can install Android apps on it or you can wirelessly link to an existing computer to use your desktop normally.

Nope. The laptop is just there as a prop. The Quest gives you three browser windows to work with. Soon they'll have a new window management system where you can undock them and place them anywhere

Problems that the quest has that these do not 1. Cannot wear in public without looking crazy. 2. Passthrough is simulated with cameras, not naturally. 3. For me, it's very uncomfortable on face for more than 5 minutes. 4. Cannot play consoles through it

Nope. The 3 is quite clear! Many times, people get make up smudges or eyebrow oil on their device and think it's blurry. Just look at most peoples phones. Gotta keep your stuff clean.

I received my headset a couple of days ago and thought it was faulty. I was expecting the pass-through to be as clear as shown in your video or even clearer. That’s how Meta advertised it in their marketing videos. I guess I won’t send it back since you’ve confirmed it’s normal. Also the VR experience isn’t as crisp as I was expecting. @@carlbonsu Depends on the experience or application. But I've been using VR for 8 years now, so... The only thing that really makes me sick is a VR180 camera person doing slow rotation. It makes for shitty juddery video where you feel like you're spinning. Oh god, that's the worst thing to do.

I suspect you need a ton of lighting to make AR usable. Had the same, AR looks shit in anything that isn’t very well lit.

@@jubvhi yeah but when you see a demo with normal lighting is misleading. In 2023 you should be able to find a better camera with better low light performance knowing that this is going to be a consumer headset. The Quest pro had the same issue. And even the controllers with camera struggle in normal light conditions. I even suspect that they have problems with the headset because it was released without a depth sensor that helps a lot with pavement.
