It's very inspiring to see how the family has kept the restaurant going since Ray's sudden passing earlier this year. Wishing them continued success.

Nice to see the family carrying on with making great BBQ. It's also a good reminder that even great tasting BBQ isn't enough to help with depression. It's a common illness and there are many resources out there to help. Don't be afraid to open up and seek help for yourself or your loved ones.

Well said Art. When our minds are working and our sanity is intact, we cannot take it for granted and must realize that it can change at a moments notice. I feel pain every time I think of my mentor. Food is everything we are. It’s an extension of nationalist feeling, ethnic feeling, your personal history, your province, your region, your tribe, your grandma. Great video, thanks Harry for bringing us this story. I agree the mac & cheese is always a must get. Some places will have a menu item where they take brisket or pulled pork and put it on top of the mac and cheese & cheese which I think is awesome.

As a BBQ lover and one who has been to Texas, this place is SO LEGIT!! Been going to Ray's for a few years now and I too was shocked and saddened by Ray's passing, but to see these awesome young guys keep it going, so inspiring! I've spoken with Sebastian many times and he is such a great guy! I dare say, their brisket and ribs are better than Heritage BBQ in San Juan Capistrano, which says a lot considering Heritage uses real off set wood fueled only smokers. And to get a good review on Texas Monthly...huge!! Sides here are really good, but my god...that dirty rice (which has meat trimmings) and those beans (also with meat trimmings) are KILLER!! If I had just one minor critique, they used to offer mild and hot bbq sauce, but they now only offer spicy and it's too much for me. With that said, bbq this good doesn't really need sauce. So happy for this family they are really nice people too. Now excuse me while I go there today and get some of their deliciousness.

Its amazing that we don't have to travel to Texas of Mid-West to get some really lip smacking barbecue. I've eaten all over American and Europe. Ray is top notch and definitely worth a visit especially their Wagyu brisket is is my fav. Smoke Queen also does Mashima Wagyu which is a cut over Prime.

@@SlapYoDaddyBBQ Hi Harry thanks for responding. I just subscribed so I can keep up with what you are doing. I think the last time I saw one of your videos was right before I went to Kansas City in 2020 and saw some places you stopped at there. My goodness, I had some amazing BBQ in that city!! My wife and I went to 9 different places. I see you have BBQ classes here in SoCal. Hmmm, one day I just may go for it. I'm just a backyard enthusiast who has taken the shortcut with a pellet smoker. I just don't have time to babysit a fire these days, but perhaps one day I will go more legit. Nice to make your acquaintance, I know you are one of the BBQ gurus and I once judged a competition you were in. I hope to taste your BBQ one day. Any other places in SoCal you really like for BBQ? I saw in your response you mentioned Smoke Queen. I will have to check them out. I live in Gardena but willing to travel for some good Q.
