After having a lot of fun with the first game, New Super Mario Bros. U, I decided to try out the harder sequel - New Super Luigi U! A lot of people have told me that this is one of the hardest, if not THE hardest 2D Mario game in the whole franchise, so I was a bit nervous going into it. Every level having a 100 second time limit and playing like a speedrun makes for a chaotic challenge, but an enjoyable one at the same time. Lost Levels/SMB2-J is overrated difficulty wise. Contrary to popular belief SMB2-USA is a harder game.

@@Waddlejpg He's not exactly wrong about Lost Levels being overrated difficulty-wise, the main 8 worlds are honestly not THAT hard, just a harder expansion of Super Mario Bros. and not much else. Like, you could take a level from, say, World 5, and isolate it from Lost Levels and the game's perception, and I doubt most people would find said level particularly out of the ordinary difficulty-wise in its layout, maybe a bit harder than average but not much? The game is still not beginner-friendly, but it was specifically made for people who had already mastered the first game so it was never intended to be beginner-friendly, so given that, the main 8 worlds honestly aren't particularly outlandish on the difficulty compared to other older Mario games. Worlds A-D are a very different story but in the original Famicom version those were just a secret bonus separate campaign for only the most skilled players so those really don't count. However, I don't agree with saying SMB2 USA is harder, nah Lost Levels is definitely still a harder game than SMB2-USA, but its difficulty is over-exaggerated. It just seems ridiculously hard if you're not well-accustomed to SMB1's controls/physics, and if you try to play it speeding through levels without being really careful like you might an easier Mario game, but simply take the game slow and steady and be constantly alert and it's not that over-the-top difficult (again, assuming you're well accustomed to SMB1's controls).

That's because he finished the level at 44 seconds left. If you finish the level at 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88 or 99 seconds left that happens.

I think smb2 usa is harder because getting lifes is very hard and you have limited continues, so if you game over 3 times it’s over, on 2j tho, you can die how many times you want and will be on the same world
